XXL Magazine Names Top 10 Hip-Hop Books

Since it’s inception, hip-hop has infiltrated more than neighborhood boomboxes.  As of late, hip-hop has turned it’s eye towards dominating the literary world. Decoded written by Jay-Z and dream hampton hit the New York Times’ Best Sellers List in the fourth quarter of last year and remained there for quite some time. Following the trend, rappers have started putting out their own literary works. XXL Magazine took notice and created a list of the Top 10 Hip-Hop Books. The Urban Daily is especially proud because our Chief Content Officer Smokey D. Fontaine co-authored an entry. He and DMX collaborated on E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX . Here’s what XXL had to say about our friend and boss: It was DMX’s passion and revealing honesty that helped the Ruff Ryder thrive as an artist in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and those same factors ensured that his book, E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX (Harper Collins), was as gripping as the emotional prayers heard on his albums. The autobiography focuses more on the man than on his music, with the Dark Man opening up about violence, imprisonment, familial neglect and building his family during his formative years. The unpredictability that has marked much of the Yonkers rapper’s career was, unsurprisingly, also present during the writing process. What ensued for co-author Smokey D. Fontaine was months on the road, hundreds of hours of tape and full immersion in DMX’s everyday life. “I carried a micro-cassette [recorder] in my pocket everywhere we went. Had my hand in my pocket. We’d be in conversation, whenever we started getting into it, I’d press record,” Fontaine says. “We never had one scheduled time to sit down and talk about his life. It was all fly-on-the-wall. Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is becoming increasingly well-known to non-football fans, and it’s not just because of what he does on the football field. Tebow has not only turned around his team’s losing ways since becoming the starter by helping the Broncos win 8 of their last 9 games, but he has been an attractive promoter of Christianity. Everybody Loves Tim Tebow Here! With Tebow being the most vocal supporter of God in the NFL, how could God not love Tebow a little more? The degree of God’s love is not debatable, and it’s not likely that God actually loves Tim Tebow more than any other football player or human being for that matter. But if God did love Tebow more, here are some reasons why we’d understand… Christianity Now Trendy? Tim Tebow has literally made praising God trendy by “Tebowing” before each game. This probably wasn’t his intent, because Tebow just kneels down to pray briefly. However, the more the Broncos won, the more people took notice. Striking a prayer pose on one knee in random places became known as “Tebowing,” and people often share these images on social networks like Twitter and Facebook. Give Thanks During his post-game interviews, Tim Tebow thanks his Savior for the victory before he acknowledges anyone else. Instead of focusing on stats, or his great performance, Tebow gives all praise to God. Not Too Preachy Tebow received a great deal of criticism last year for appearing in a pro-life commercial with his mother. The ad ran during the Super Bowl, and pro-choicers criticized his decision to stand on this side of this faith/political issue. Tebow consistently speaks of his faith in interviews, but he hasn’t received a wave of backlash, because he’s celebrating his beliefs instead of imposing them on others. Building A Following The more Tim Tebow leads the Denver Broncos to victory, the more people wonder how helps his team win games that they seemed to have no way to win. Commentators and fans recognize that there must be a devine force, and that’s slowly and effectively showing people the power of Christ. On A Mission Tim Tebow is the son of missionaries, and earlier this year he followed in their footsteps by spreading Christianity in the Philippines. While some NFL players spend their off time getting into trouble, Tebow preaches to others by talking about what means the most to him.

Lindsey Vonn: Dating Tim Tebow?!

Lindsey Vonn will not be sacking Tim Tebow. Literally or otherwise. The Olympic skier and the Denver Broncos quarterback have been linked together recently, after she was spotted in the Tebow family box at Sunday’s game. Tebow and Vonn have also been seeing hanging out at the ESPYs and at ski races, and she has even been “Tebowing” – assuming the QB’s pre-game pose / prayer – in recent weeks. So it’s not like these rumors came completely out of nowhere. That doesn’t mean they’re true, though. Sadly. “Lindsey is just friends with the Tebow family. Anyone who is trying to suggest any more to their relationship is wrong,” Vonn’s rep told New York Post ‘s Page Six . Added the 27-year-old gold medalist herself on Twitter: “Hearing a lot of crazy rumors but rest assured I am not dating Tim Tebow (or anyone else).” “This is an extremely difficult time in my personal life and I hope the media and my fans can respect my need for privacy on this matter,” Lindsey added. Late last month, Vonn announced her divorce from her husband Thomas, who had served as her adviser and scheduler, after four years of marriage. She and Tebow, who is “saving himself for marriage,” would instantly form one of the sexiest couples in sports, but alas. For now, all he does is win !

Jesse Csincsak, former winner of The Bachelorette, is speaking out about the new lawsuit against Reality Steve , whose Bachelor spoilers have roiled producers for years. Csincsak says the real culprit in all of this is the show’s head honcho, Mike Fleiss, who he claims ruins people’s lives for a living, yet can’t take what he dishes out. The ex-fiance of DeAnna Pappas doesn’t understand capital letters, or know how to spell the names of certain toppled global despots, but he has strong feelings on the topic. With Tim Tebow as their starting quarterback this season, the Denver Broncos are 7-1, sitting in first place despite their signal caller’s throwing motion looking uglier than this photo of Kim Zolciak giving birth . So, what is accounting for the team’s success? A stout defense? Matt Prater nailing two 50-yard-plus field goals at the conclusion of yesterday’s 13-10 victory? Will McGahee running for nearly 100 yards every Sunday? No, no and no, says Wayne Hanson, one of Tebow’s pastors in Colorado. “It’s not luck. Luck isn’t winning 6 games in a row. It’s favor. God’s favor,” Hanson tells TMZ, adding “God has blessed his hard work” and saying there’s no way Denver would be winning games if Tebow were not such a religious man. (Sorry, John Fox. In a rare television interview, Britney Spears talked to Entertainment Tonight about her upcoming Femme Fatale tour and a sneak peek at her rehearsals. Suffice it to say, she’s pumped for the cash-printing road trip. “I’m really excited. Probably going to be extra nervous the day before but we’ve been working hard for two months now,” the 29-year-old pop star said. Britney , who’s kicking off the tour next Friday (June 17) in Sacramento, Calif., also chatted about her two boys, Sean Preston, 5, and Jayden James, 4. Kim Kardashian is spending more time in court than she is… doing whatever the heck she actually does. Aside from threatening Bret Lockett with a lawsuit for claiming the two had a fling, Kim has been drawing up a prenuptial agreement to protect herself against the possibility of divorce. Or, to be more accurate, Kris Jenner has been doing so. She “drew up the contracts,” a source told Us Weekly of Jenner’s role in her daughter’s legal life. “Kim’s Beverly Hills home and all of her assets are protected… additionally, she keeps anything she earns during the marriage.” Kris Humphries is a solid NBA power forward, of course, so he’ll still have millions when the couple’s reality TV contract runs out if they split. “He does not receive anything if the marriage fails,” says the source. “He agreed to that.
