Most TV shows that try to document our real lives haven’t quite figured out how to incorporate our relationship to technology into their modern conceptions of what real life looks like. With the exception of Atlanta and High Maintenance, which are devoted to fictionally exploring what we intimately experience in reality, television remains primarily a… Read more »

After a tumultuous first four episodes of the fall, what wild and crazy ISH went down Monday night on Teen Mom OG Season 3 Episode 5 ? Watch Teen Mom OG Season 3 Episode 5 Online On the latest installment of the MTV franchise, the fab four went through highs and lows as always – some more profound than others. Speaking of profound moments, ladies and gentlemen: “You know what I wonder? If the earth is a circle, how does the water always stay? Gravity?” Farrah Abraham said, dropping serious knowledge. “But the water is a little bit more heavier than gravity.” “I love when clouds touch mountains or whatever.” Apropos of nothing, but we couldn’t not include that. If you watch Teen Mom OG online , you know that Farrah and Simon Saran have had a tumultuous relationship to say the very least. Well, Teen Mom OG Season 3 Episode 5 was no exception as Simon flew to Hawaii to make up and make out with her post- Easter Gate . Of course, nothing with Farrah is every that easy. The trip was an total bust, for a variety of reasons. Simon and his sometime porn star GF promptly got into it about how “fake” the other one is, and he ended up getting ditched on the curb. Seriously. Along with his “day bag.” Asked if she’s in love with Simon, Farrah responded, “I don’t think I need to be concerned of if I love someone right now.” “It’s more or less repairing what was already started. And it’s slowly getting there. But I’m like, why isn’t it there already?” A very good, and deep question. Simon and Farrah may not last, but he recently said Farrah is a great mom , so it looks like they’ve made up, if not made out, recently. View Slideshow: 35 Dumbest Farrah Abraham Quotes of All Time Elsewhere, Amber Portwood’s boyfriend Matt Baier, threw her surprise party for the big 2-6. As in the number of years she’s been alive. Not his total number of children. Sorry. Low blow? Too soon? In all seriousness, it was a good time as daughter Leah came along with Amber’s old cellmate, Nicole, who is also out of prison now. Nicole is the only other member of their prison crew to make it out to the real world, so this was a big deal for Ambs and rightfully so. “She was my best friend,” Amber said. “And we’re actually the only two out of our friends who have made it and haven’t went back in.” Portwood’s prison days seem a distant memory lately, and that’s to her credit and she really has turned her life around in every sense. Still, personal struggles remain. “We all have different problems on this show, but for some odd reason, I’m so depressed,” she revealed. “I’m bipolar and manic depressive.” “I’m borderline personality. I’m diagnosed with every single one of those. I’m on my medications for it,” Amber added, but she cautioned: Given her problems with drug abuse in the past, her medications are non-narcotics and they are closely monitored, so that’s a relief. We wish her the best. Poor girl. Maci Bookout: Overwhelmed By Wedding Plans?! Maci Bookout and Taylor McKinney just bought a house, but now they’re buying a new one due to the whole unexpected third pregnancy. Taylor also got a tattoo of their unborn baby’s name (Maverick), which begged the question of what happens if he turns out to be a girl. Sonograms, or the technicians reading them, have been wrong before, so it’s not far-fetched. Maci’s take on this hilarious hypothetical? “Ryan was supposed to be a girl.” “Not f–king surprising at all.” LOL. Finally, Catelynn Lowell went to rehab for mental health treatment, and Tyler Baltierra was in shambles, literally pained for his spouse. “[She’s] like a log just rolling through days,” he told Teen Mom: OG producers, reflecting on how Cate needs help and telling his wife: “You’re not f–ked up, honey. Things happen.” “As long as we don’t mask it no more, and we fix it,” he said, everything will be alright, and Catelynn seemed to take all that to heart. “I probably wont come home and smoke [pot],” she said. “Actually, I should just start saying I wont come home and smoke ever again.” “I feel like I’m a crack addict or something.” Not a crack addict, but getting help is never a bad thing when you’re struggling. As Tyler said, things happen, and we’re all in it together. Catelynn Lowell Speaks on Anxiety
Community Colleges Are Reaching Out To Those In Need Last week, ITT Tech presumably ruined the lives of thousands of its students when they permanently closed the doors of every single campus in the country. ITT Tech’s credits tend not to transfer to other institutions , effectively costing both time and money of their student population. There might be some reprieve however, as community colleges are reaching out to Tech students to help them continue their educational pursuits. via AL.com Community colleges across Alabama are reaching out to former ITT Tech students after the institute’s sudden closure last week. Calhoun Community College will host an information session and open house on September 15 from 4-6 p.m. for students to meet with instructors and representatives from the school’s various programs. There will also be financial aid advisers and counselors available for more information about enrollment. “Our team has met for the last few days in an effort to develop a comprehensive plan as we work with those ITT students who decide to make Calhoun their choice in continuing their higher education goals,” Calhoun President Dr. James Klauber said. The event will be at Calhoun’s Decatur Campus in the Aerospace Training Center. Those interested can call Caroline Canestrari at 256-306-276 for more information or go to calhoun.edu. The school announced that it is shutting its doors today after being investigated by multiple agencies and after the U.S. Dept. of Education said it would stop federal loans for the school’s students. Another school, Athens State University, said on its website that the school is “committed to assisting students wishing to transfer to Athens State to complete their education.” “As a regionally accredited, state-supported University, we are constrained by guidelines that sometimes limit our ability to transfer all credits from all institutions. Nonetheless, given the hardship that the ITT closing has placed on so many students in Alabama and across the country, we welcome the opportunity to review transcripts and course descriptions on request for any possible transfer of credit to our programs,” the school said. Former ITT Tech students have not been notified if their credits from the school will be transferable. Students interested in speaking with an Athens State counselor can call 256-233-8100 or go to athens.edu for more information. According to WALA and WHNT , other schools helping ITT Tech students include the Alabama Aviation Center at the Brookley Field campus in Mobile, J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College in Huntsville, and Oakwood University in Huntsville. This is definitely an awesome move and all the colleges involved should be commended for providing a helping hand at this time.
North Dakota Legalizes Weaponized Drones For Police Use As if it isn’t terrible enough that drone-driven weapons are a thing…but now, police are able to use this technology to remote-control situations that they feel require weaponized force — at least in one state. Via Independent : Armed drones could be used by police in the US state of North Dakota after local lawmakers legalised their use. While they will be limited to “less than lethal” weapons, tear gas, tasers, rubber bullets and pepper spray could all be used in theory by the remote controlled flying machines. In a classic case of unintended consequences, the original sponsor, Republican state representative Rick Becker said he was unhappy with the way legislation turned out. His original intention was to prevent law enforcement officials from using the unmanned aerial vehicles from conducting surveillance on private property without a warrant. “In my opinion there should be a nice, red line: Drones should not be weaponised,” he said. The original draft of the House Bill 1328 said: “A state agency may not authorize the use of, including granting a permit to use, an unmanned aircraft armed with any lethal or non-lethal weapons, including firearms, pepper spray, bean bag guns, mace, and sound-based weapons.” However, the state’s police union amended the Bill, limiting the ban to only lethal weapons, meaning that sounds cannons or rubber bullets could be used on police drones, according to The Daily Beast. Police already get way too trigger happy in some situations out here. Imagine how many more issues could come about when they can remote control their weapons from the sky… Creative Commons
