Source: aiqingwang / Getty The Women Try To Escape Highway Patrol After Getting Caught Washing At A Rest Stop Things went from zero to sixty when three naked women were caught by Highway Patrol in Florida. According to the Tampa Bay Times , in Pasco County, the three women were spotted at the northbound Interstate 75 rest stop area. The arrest reports state that a rest stop custodian called the Highway Patrol once they spotted the women, saying he saw them “in the nude, putting on suntan lotion.” Once the trooper arrived, she saw the naked women in the rest stop parking lot and they immediately started putting on their clothes. Eighteen-year-old Oasis Shakira McLeod told the trooper that they were “air drying” after washing up, and the trooper peeped that they had a case of water and a bottle of soap. The other two women were identified as Jeniyah McLeod and Cecilia Eunique Young, both 19. Oasis said they had left Cecila’s father’s house after an altercation and spent the night in the rest stop because they didn’t have anywhere else to go. The women provided their names and dates of birth, but they went against the trooper’s commands to stay put. “We need you to leave,” Jeniyah McLeod said. “We need you to walk away. Leave, leave, leave.” She then told the trooper that they were going to walk away, and the trooper told them to stop. “No we’re not,” one of them reportedly said, then all three of them ran around the trooper and jumped into a white 2009 Nissan Sentra with a New York state license plate. Oasis was at the driver’s seat as the car sped off, causing a pedestrian to jump out of the road as they sped away. While on the northbound Interstate 75, the trooper started speeding after them but her superiors called her off because the situation didn’t meet Highway Patrol’s pursuit policy. A driver on I-75 called 911 and followed the Nissan to S.R. 52 in San Antonio Florida. That’s when another trooper found the Nissan, reported seeing it drive the wrong way and began heading east on S.R. 52. A trooper managed to shoot a GPS tracker onto the driving Nissan, which officials said allowed them to back off the pursuit. Highway Patrol dispatchers in Tampa began tracking the car and radioing its position to troopers. Things got even MORE intense when the Nissan pulled into a gas station and Cecilia Young reportedly jumped out of the back seat and ran inside. Two troopers jumped out their cruiser and demanded the Nissan stop, but of course, it drove off. One trooper drove after it while the other trooper pursued Young. They got in an intense tussle, with Young kicking, scratching and hitting, according to the trooper. As soon as he got her on the ground, he said he peeped the Nissan coming after him. Thus, he jumped out the way, and that’s when he said Jeniya hopped out the car and threatened him with a pink and purple metal bat. Seeing a fellow trooper in danger, the other trooper in the cruiser decided to ram the Nissan in the back. The women then all got in and drove off again. They drove east on S.R. 52, but ran over a tire-deflation device placed on the road by Dade City police officers, which put out their right-side tires. The epic chase finally came to an end when the Nissan entered an active school zone outside Pasco High School while students were crossing S.R. 52, according to troopers. One of the pursuing troopers was authorized to execute the “PIT maneuver” — Pursuit Intervention Technique — which caused him to use the front end of his cruiser to knock the Nissan off the road at S.R. 52 and Old San Ann Road. The women weren’t trying to give up though. They refused to leave the Nissan and instead, they locked arms, according to a trooper. A trooper then used a Taser to stun one of them, and the driver, Oasis McLeod, surrendered. The women all invoked their rights to not talk to the troopers. Oasis McLeod agreed to perform field sobriety exercises, according to troopers, and she seemed to be impaired. Troopers eventually found marijuana in the vehicle and Jeniyah McLeod said it was hers, and she got it from “a white guy named Bubba.” The three ladies were arrested at 11 a.m. and taken to AdventHealth Dade City hospital to be checked out. They were then booked into the Pasco County jail. It should be noted that Pasco, has been named the nudist capital of the world, however arrests reports indicate the women were not linked to any nudist or clothing-optional communities. According to jail records, Oasis McLeod of Kingston, N.Y. faces felony charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated resisting an officer with violence, fleeing and eluding and possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. She also faces misdemeanor charges of DUI crash involving property damage, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer without violence and indecent exposure. She is reportedly being held in lieu of $57,000 bail. Cecilia Young of Lutz, Florida faces felony charges of aggravated resisting an officer with violence and misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure (two counts), possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer without violence. She is currently being held in lieu of $27,000 bail. A lthough tech companies have been stagnant with moving the needle on racial and gender diversity, there are many individuals who are rising up the ranks and breaking barriers in the industry. According to USA Today , Facebook has nominated PayPal executive Peggy Alford to its board of directors. Alford, a prominent technology executive, would be the first African-American woman and second African-American to join the board of the social media giant. https://t.co/YThlHAPraP — USA TODAY (@USATODAY) April 12, 2019 The nomination is historic as Alford will become the first Black woman and the second Black person to join the board. The tech industry veteran—who is a graduate of the University of Dayton—has served in leadership positions at eBay and Rent.com. She took on the role of Senior Vice President of Core Markets at PayPal this year. Prior to joining the PayPal team, she was the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Operations for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative; an organization created by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan that is designed to use technology as a solution to better education and change the criminal justice system. Zuckerberg believes Alford’s presence on the board will help the company move in the right direction in regards to diversity. “Peggy is one of those rare people who’s an expert across many different areas — from business management to finance operations to product development,” he said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I know she will have great ideas that will help us address both the opportunities and challenges facing our company.” Alford is beyond thrilled to join the board and says she admires the company’s “desire to face hard issues head-on.” Last year American Express CEO Kenneth Chenault became the first African-American person to be appointed to Facebook’s board of directors. There is a need for more diversity on corporate boards—especially in regards to gender. According to Bloomberg , 21,424 U.S. board seats are held by men while only 5,088 are held by women. We have huge news regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, readers. No, however, it isn’t that huge news regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. But we are getting closer and closer to the truly big one… Before the Royal Baby enters the world, however, Harry and Meghan have officially moved into the home where their impending child will be raised. The famous parents-to-be now reside into their newly renovated home, Frogmore Cottage, which is located on the Frogmore Estate in Berkshire. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are expecting their first child any week now, were initially revealed to be leaving their two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London last November. The decision took many observers by surprised and fueled talk about a Markle and Kate Middleton feud . There was an assumption as the time that Markle simply had to get as far away from her rival as possible. Is this really the case? We’ll likely never know. It’s equally conceivable that the couple simply wants their son or daughter to grow up outside the busy city of London. “Windsor is a very special place for their royal highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate,” Kensington Palace simply said in a statement last fall. Last month, in anticipation of Markle giving birth, the formation of a new household for Harry and Meghan was also confirmed, putting an end to the joint household the prince shared with older brother Prince William at Kensington Palace. This is technical Royal Family stuff, but it’s important to those who are interested in the lives of Harry, William and their wives. “The Queen has agreed to the creation of a new household for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, following their marriage in May last year. The Household, which will be created with the support of the Queen and the Prince of Wales, will be established in the spring,” a royal statement announced a couple weeks ago. It continued: “The Duke of Sussex currently has his own private office, which has been supporting the Duchess since Their Royal Highnesses engagement in November 2017. “This long-planned move will ensure that permanent support arrangements for the Duke and Duchess’ work are in place as they start their family and move to their official residence at Frogmore Cottage.” Frogmore Cottage, of course, is not really a cottage in any traditional sense. It has 10 bedrooms, for example. It was gifted to Harry and his wife by Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and is very nearby from the queen’s Windsor Castle, where the superstars are expected to spend Easter Sunday. There’s also plenty of room here for Markle’s mother to feel comfortable, as she’s expected to stick around for awhile after her grandchild is born. She is not expected to move permanently into the estate, however; neither is Markle’s attention-starved father or insult-hurling step-sister. They both suck and will hopefully never receive an invite to the home. At this point, meanwhile, Markle is on maternity leave and is not expected to be out and about in public very much. All we can really do is sit back and debate potential baby names while we await the momentous occasion. Oh, and we can also follow Harry and Meghan on social media ! “Welcome to our official Instagram,” the couple captioned their first Instagram post this week, concluding: “We look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.” View Slideshow: Meghan Markle: 19 Cruelest Things Her Own Family Has Said About the Duchess

Source: MARK RALSTON / Getty Los Angeles police informed the Los Angeles Times on Monday that they were making progress in the search for the gunman who shot and killed Nipsey Hussle on Sunday afternoon. The Victory Lap rapper was gunned down in front of a shopping mall that he owned and prominently featured his The Marathon clothing store. Law enforcement sources told the Times they believed the killer was someone that Hussle knew. Detectives also believe that although the gunman has gang ties, his motives were more likely personal in nature rather than a gang feud. The coroner officer’s said Monday that the 33-year-old succumbed to a gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was shot six times in total, five bullets hitting him in his chest. The individual who shot Hussle did so at close range before leaving in a getaway car. On Monday, multiple worlds from hip-hop to tech to most, if not all of Los Angeles stopped in paying their respects to the fallen rapper, entrepreneur, father, brother and businessman. “Driving down Slauson four in the morning, I can’t sleep,” The Game posted on Instagram. “S**t crazy, I’m disgusted by this s***.” Tributes were posted by the Los Angeles Metro, various school districts across the country, the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers. In Houston, Travis Scott posted condolences on social media while NBA MVP James Harden , a close friend of Hussle’s called it, “one of the worst days of my f**king life!” The pair were close as Hussle was on hand in Los Angeles last summer to watch Harden accept his MVP trophy and Harden personally requested nothing but Hussle’s music be played during Rockets pregame warmups. Source: JONATHAN NACKSTRAND / Getty Investigators Couldn’t Determine How The Video Popped Up At O.L. Smith Middle School in Michigan, a substitute teacher was trying to cue up a video of Lewis and Clark for history. So imagine the seventh graders surprise when a porn clip from the Internet popped up instead. It played for AT LEAST 30 seconds before it could be cut off. According to Fox 2 , Dearborn Public Schools are blaming the situation on a technology glitch… Mhm. “In this particular instance, it appears there was some sort type of loophole – one time too many – but very isolated,” said David Mustonen, the communication director for Dearborn, Michigan schools. He said with thousands of logins a day, things kids shouldn’t see usually don’t get through. “Are we looking into this particular instance, are we making sure this doesn’t happen again, yes, absolutely,” he said. “Do we need to scrap everything and start over? No, nowhere near that.” Questions still remain on how the pornographic video even made it to the screen in that particular moment. Did the substitute pull it up? Was their a typo in a search? The district denies both these things. “The substitute teacher that was in the classroom was unaware that this video was there,” Mustonen said. When Fox 2 asked the Dearborn police if a student was possibly pranking the teacher, authorities said there’s no evidence of this. A letter was sent home with the history class kids, alerting parents about the “unfortunate and rare occurrence.” The district says support was made available to students who needed it after watching the images. The Dearborn police sergeant over school resource officers said, on their end, the investigation is closed, and they found “no criminal intent.” As a precaution, the district won’t bring back the substitute since they can’t confirm how the movie came about.
T hree days out of the week Amantina Sosa would wake up before the sun rose to prepare for an early morning shift at Starbucks. Following her barista shift Sosa—a Bronx native—would hop on the train and rush from the Midtown Starbucks location to Harlem to participate in a tech and entrepreneurship program designed for underserved adults. Prior to getting involved with the program, she says she would have never considered pursuing a career in tech, and now she’s on a path to creating her own app. “I didn’t think that I could pursue tech as a career,” she said. “This program made me see that tech wasn’t something that was far in reach.” For Sosa, the early mornings and long days were worth it because she knew she was investing in her future. Like Sosa, many underserved young adults in New York City, have struggled to forge their own paths due to the lack of access and exposure to career readiness resources. Disrupt Harlem Code Squad—a Harlem-based free 16-week program designed to empower adults between the ages of 18 and 24 to step into entrepreneurship and expose them to career pathways in tech—is aiming to change that narrative. Participants learn how to code, experience what it’s like to work at tech companies first-hand through field trips, and receive ongoing mentorship from tech leaders and entrepreneurs. Students are placed on teams and work on creating their own digital projects which are presented before a panel of judges on Demo Day. The program has proven to be nothing short of impactful. A lot of the participants in the 2018 cohort say that being a part of Disrupt Harlem has given them a strong sense of purpose and inspired them to further their entrepreneurial endeavors. For many of the students representation was key; seeing themselves reflected in their instructors and mentors had a positive influence. “It really showed me that technology is a driving force in everything,” said participant Aniya Carter . Carter, a recent college grad, has always had a passion for entrepreneurship and says that Disrupt Harlem Code Squad provided her with the foundation to build her own business. For her Demo Day project, she created a platform called Jigsaw which helps connect job seekers and employers. “It was a great experience. It was encouraging to see that everyone looked like me. It was run by Black people and the students were Black which was motivating.” Like Carter, program participant Mark Farrel hopes to be at the helm of his own business within the next few years. Farrel—who worked at Bloomingdale’s while participating in Disrupt Harlem Code Squad—has always been passionate about pursuing a career in fashion. The Harlemite says the program has shown him how he can merge fashion and technology. “It became my safe haven. Prior to this, I didn’t have a support system,” Farrel told NewsOne. “It caters to individuals who aren’t taking the traditional educational route. It showed me how I can disrupt the fashion industry through technology.” Farrel and his team created an app called CopIt which gives you details about a piece of clothing by taking a photo. He says he wants to continue to learn more about front-end and back-end development and hopes to become an app developer in the future. There is a need for culturally sensitive entrepreneurship and tech education programs for young adults in inner-city communities. Ones that are understanding of the daily struggles that they face and can provide guidance and show them how to overcome them. “DHCS provides a holistic approach to educating young adults. We don’t just teach the tech skills needed to enter the industry, but also what’s traditionally considered soft skills. Things like emotional intelligence and networking are key in developing a successful career,” said Program Director Philomena Boateng . “Over the course of the program, our students have grown as not only entrepreneurs and tech professionals. We often say our network is our net worth and they’ve truly taken steps to meet new people and jumpstart their careers.” DHCS is gearing up for its next cohort and plans on continuing to make an impact in the lives of young adults of color in New York City.
