April 26 Is National Pretzel Day!

April 26 is declared unofficially as the National Pretzel Day.  This food holiday is celebrated annually by paying tribute to all kinds of pretzels made.  It was first declared in 1983 by Robert S. Walker. Then, it was redeclared  by Ed Rendell, Governor of Pensylvannia, in 2003. According to FoodTimeline.org, the pretzel were enjoyed during the ancient times, especially during Lent. In the 7th century, several documented pretzel recipes were discovered. In 610 A.D., it was said that a monk took rolls of leftover dough and shaped them into criss-crossed arms in the shape of praying hands. He called the treat a “pretiola” or “little reward.” Others dubbed his treats “brachiola” or “little arms”. The actual word “pretzel” has German origins and it is said to be similar to the word for “bracelet”. These first pretzels were soft Now, pretzels come in different varieties.  It may come packaged wich you can easily buy from stores, or buy it hot and soft from sidewalk vendors or made at home. It may be plain, salted or flavored, some like it with mustard, others pairs it with a cold beer. NATIONAL PRETZEL DAY TIMELINE 1983 – Rep. Robert S. Sonique Recently Diagnosed Cancer-Free

titaniaagency Born Sonia Clark, Brittish singer Sonique, was diagnosed of having breast cancer last year.  But this successful DJ has hit another success when she was diagnosed again being cancer free. Sonique underwent three operations, intensive chemotherapy and preventative radiotherapy since the diagnosis.  She was among the many celebrities who recently recorded a charity single for Cancer Research. “Rather than thinking I’m on the road to recovery now,  I’ve recovered and it’s time to pick up the pieces and move on and forget about that place. Melissa Smith, Second Woman To Admit Having An Affair With Sandra Bullock’s Husband

babble Sandra Bullock’s another salt-to-the-wound Melissa Smith apologized to the famed actress for the revelations that caused her heartaches. Smith is the second woman claiming to have a long-term affair with Bullock’s husband, shortly after Jesse James 11-month affair with pornstar Michelle McGee news went public. Smith admits she’ll “never forgive” herself for jeopardizing their marriage.  She sent a faxed letter to Bullock’s agent last Sunday saying “I felt I needed to reach out to you and tell you how deeply sorry I am for everything that you’ve been through… And I know nothing I can say in this letter is going to make the pain of my actions go away”. “I am sorry for any hurt or pain that I have caused you. My actions of engaging with a married man are unforgivable. I never meant you any harm. I compromised my beliefs on several occasions and as a result will never forgive myself.” The letter was concluded with, “Please contact me if you wish to discuss on the phone or in person.” McGee issued a public apology to Bullock earlier this month, telling the actress, “I’m sorry for your embarrassment. Sales from the Technology Industry such as Apple, Intel and EMC have hit new highs as their sales went to powerful recovery this quarter. This is because both consumers and corporation increased their technology spendings. The world’s largest software maker, Microsoft also reported that its sales rise up to 6 percent to $14.50 billion which left investors wanting more. Intel has reported record sales of its PC chips. This is already a good sign for predictions for 2010 PC sales will have as much as 25 percent for the industry. As the sales of the software rose to $4.42 billion compared from the same period of last year, $3.45 billion, Microsoft said that the driver if revenue for the quarter was due ti Windows. Meanwhile, Microsoft also said that gaming and online software products did also good during the quarter. Microsoft is now regaining from the recession of last year. Which spent 18 months regaining its products as well as the consumers. Microsoft is also now working to revitalize its smartphone software business, demonstrating a new smartphone operating system, Window Phone 7. The company has also released two new phones which are more user friendly to young consumers that loves to post photos and videos online. Later this year, Microsoft will release its own version of gaming accessory code-named Project Natal. This product aimed to use body gestures instead of controllers. Tornado in Mississippi Yazoo City MS State of Emergency

A giant tornado is reportedly the cause of major destruction to Yazoo City MS and is reportedly still in danger. Yazoo City Mississippi is still in the state of shock but is in the process of declaring a state of emergency. Yazoo City MS Officials are already reporting two confirmed deaths and they expect more to come. It was said that this tornado punched a line right through the city of Yazoo MS and has left nothing behind. The Yazoo City Tornado was one of the biggest tornadoes of the year. Mayor Straughter said that the damage is still being assessed but he expects it to be an ugly picture. Houses, vehicles and people were said to all have been victim to the tornado’s rage. The Yazoo City MS tornado will likely have negative effects to this county. There are more areas currently that have tornado warnings and residents are advised to stay indoors or within tornado shelters under ground if they can.
