Taken from his appearance on Oprah’s Master Class Sunday, the Fargo Season 1 star uses reality television to explain his problem with humanity in general these days. “We’re living in a time that’s just become judgmental and everybody wants to see failure,” says the ex-husband of Angeline Jolie . “They want to see people knocked off the hill. “You can’t have a television show without a competition because they want to see who cries this week and who goes downhill, who gets kicked out.” Billy Bob Thornton SLAMS Cupcake Wars Does Thornton think we need a series about cupcake recipes ? No. But, okay, fine, great. You wanna air one? No problem. HOWEVER… “Does it have to be a f-cking competition? Do you have to have cupcake wars? And I’m sure people who have been in war kind of take offense to that because seriously, it’s not that goddamn dangerous to make a cupcake.” The 58-year old makes some salient points, don’t you think? I guess I’m just really ready for people to kind of settle down and know each other again and root for each other as opposed to look for the faults in each other,” he concludes, adding: “There’s a lot of great stuff in life from the top to the bottom and from the left to the right. How did Simon Cowell react to the news that he was going to be a father? Was he overwhelmed with joy? Was he blindsided by Lauren Silverman ? A little of both. Simon Cowell Talks Fatherhood In an interview on Ellen airing Tuesday, he says he thought “Oh my God, this is exciting, and it’s going to be a bit of a nightmare for the next few weeks.” He’s referring to the fact that Lauren Silverman was still with her husband, Andrew, as the baby news broke earlier this summer. Recalls Cowell: “It was kind of uncomfortable . You know, the situation. But these things happen and everything is calm now and I’m happy. I’m happier than I’ve ever been.” Cowell admits that despite all the stressful attention, the mom-to-be (who already has a 7-year-old son with her now ex-husband) is “in a really good place.” Simon also defended Silverman, whom he recently spent time with in the south of France, against some less than flattering celebrity gossip reports. “There was a lot of stuff said about her, that she trapped me and that she’s a gold digger. Absolute nonsense,” Cowell says. “She’s a great girl.” The British music mogul, who is expecting a boy , says his first child will be raised in New York City (where Lauren lives), Los Angeles and London. John Rambo may soon be invading your living room. According to a press release sent out by Entertainment One and Nu Image, the companies have joined forces to create/produce a television series based on Sylvester Stallone’s beloved film franchise. It is being shopped to outlets both domestic and international. “Rambo fans cover all demographics and we’re confident that we’ll quickly find this series a home,” said eOne Television CEO John Moraynis, while Nu Image’s Avi Lerner adds: “I’m excited by the prospect of collaborating again with my good friend Sly for an encore in this next phase of the Rambo legacy.” Indeed, Stallone – currently at work on The Expendables 3 – is in negotiations to produce the project and may even star in it. A California lawyer named David Wohl may be Lindsay Lohan’s best chance to stay out of jail, and he’s trying to come on board her legal team before trial. Wohl wants to join New York attorney Mark Heller – who the judge reamed out as incompetent – when Lindsay’s case comes before the court March 18. The judge told Heller at a pretrial hearing to either bring in a California defense attorney who has a clue, or have LiLo waive her right to competent representation. Michael Lohan found Wohl, who’s practiced criminal defense law for 25 years and has offices in Orange County, and he is ready and willing to help. Wohl, who has handled cases ranging from shoplifting to murder over his career, has been in daily contact with Heller about the Lindsay Lohan case. LiLo hasn’t given Wohl her stamp of approval … yet. But even if she doesn’t, TMZ reports that MiLo has asked the attorney to show up in court with Heller anyway to force the issue, so stay tuned there. The actress is looking at up to eight months in jail for lying to police and violating probation. So far, overtures toward a plea deal have been rebuffed. One could still be struck at any time before the trial date, or even during the trial, if she actually agrees to go to rehab and get the help she needs.
