Promoting his new autobiography on 60 Minutes, Arnold Schwarzenegger discusses his betrayal of Maria Shriver … sort of. That’s not a word he would use apparently. Watch this preview of his sit-down with CBS’ Lesley Stahl, airing Sunday: Arnold on 60 Minutes “She gave up her television career for you,” the journalist said of Maria, who Arnold cheated on (and had a love child) with housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena . “I mean, wow, was this the most unbelievable act of betrayal to Maria?” I mean, wow is right. No way around it … yet Arnold still dodged. “I think it was the stupidest thing I’ve done in the whole relationship,” he said. “It was terrible … I inflicted tremendous pain on Maria and unbelievable pain on the kids.” Crazier still, Shriver hasn’t even seen Schwarzenegger’s book . When Stahl asked if she knew what Arnold wrote, all he said was, “She knows it’s about my whole life” and that a book in which he omitted his indiscretions is “not the book I wanted to write.” Great.
Celebrities That Won’t Leave Exes Alone It’s hard enough to get over an ex. It’s even harder when you see that ex all over TV and the Internet boo’d up with someone special. That’s why sometimes it’s hard for celebrities to stop talking about their exes and the ones that got away. Maybe they should just get over it and move on like a normal person. Dah well. At least them not doing that is entertaining.

POTUS Barack Obama Shut It Down at the DNC last night. He let us know that he’s fought a good fight and that times have changed. “I recognize that times have changed since I first spoke to this convention,” Obama said. “The times have changed –- and so have I. I’m no longer just a candidate. I’m the president. “I know what it means to send young Americans into battle, for I have held in my arms the mothers and fathers of those who didn’t return. I’ve shared the pain of families who’ve lost their homes, and the frustration of workers who’ve lost their jobs. If the critics are right that I’ve made all my decisions based on polls, then I must not be very good at reading them. And while I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, I’m far more mindful of my own failings, knowing exactly what Lincoln meant when he said, ‘I have been driven to my knees many times by the overwhelming conviction that I had no place else to go.’” “America,” Obama offered at the conclusion of his speech, “I never said this journey would be easy, and I won’t promise that now. Yes, our path is harder — but it leads to a better place. Yes our road is longer — but we travel it together. We don’t turn back.” “After all that we’ve been through, I don’t believe that rolling back regulations on Wall Street will help the small businesswoman expand, or the laid-off construction worker keep his home. We have been there, we’ve tried that, and we’re not going back,” said Obama. “We are moving forward.” The comments concluded a three-day convention that was equal parts proudly unapologetic about the president’s record and hostile to Mitt Romney’s. There were mishaps: one self-inflicted (platform language over Jerusalem’s status as the capital of Israel), the other a force of nature (concerns over thunderstorms forced the campaign to move the final night into the much more confined Time Warner Cable Arena). But by the count of most observers, including some Republicans, it was a bigger hit than the GOP conventions that preceded it. Don’t act like you didn’t tear up a little bit. First Lady Michelle Obama graced the stage tonight with a history-making speech that was filled with passion, determination, and most importantly, that human connection none of us felt last week when the Republicans had their turn. She spoke up for our children, all Women and their rights to equal pay and to make decisions for their bodies, and what it’s really like to be an American with convictions and heart. With such stories, the first lady sought to counter Republicans trying to paint Obama as something other than a typical American, and implied that it was Romney who couldn’t relate to people trying to get by in tough economic times. “In the end, for Barack, these issues aren’t political. They’re personal,” she said. “I’m going to try to not let them see their daddy cry because when Michelle starts talking, I start getting all misty,” Obama said at rally earlier Tuesday in Norfolk, Va. With a mix of personal anecdotes and policy talk, Mrs. Obama’s speech was by far her most political yet. “Today, after so many struggles and triumphs and moments that have tested my husband in ways I never could have imagined, I have seen firsthand that being president doesn’t change who you are – it reveals who you are,” she said. To that send, the first lady painted a portrait of a leader who knows first-hand the struggles of everyday Americans, who listens to them as president, and who pushes an agenda with their interests in mind. “That’s the man I see in those quiet moments late at night, hunched over his desk, poring over the letters people have sent him,” she said. “I see the concern in his eyes … and I hear the determination in his voice as he tells me, `You won’t believe what these folks are going through, Michelle . it’s not right. We’ve got to keep working to fix this.
