Lady Gaga Poses As Lady Liberty On Magazine Cover

Pop star poses alongside Marc Jacobs for the New York issue of V Magazine. By James Dinh Lady Gaga on the cover of V Magazine Photo: V Magazine, LLC As evidenced by her recent well-publicized attendance at a Mets game and her glorious Madison Square Garden show, Lady Gaga has always repped for her hometown of New York City. So it’s no surprise that Gaga is paying tribute to the Big Apple by posing as the Statue of Liberty alongside fashion guru Marc Jacobs on the fall cover of V Magazine . Posing with Jacobs, a shopping cart and an old TV set, Gaga stands with her mouth slightly open in a black lace bra and panties with a gray dress sliding off her body. With her toned abs and her hair shaped into a crown, the pop star is holding a burning torch, mimicking the New York landmark. And while Gaga does her best impression of the neoclassical sculpture, Jacobs remains serious and firm, sitting on top of the television in a traditional black-and-white suit. In another photo, the singer is seen crouched in the carriage as she’s pushed around by the fashion designer with her torch held high. Just last year, the singer appeared on the fall issue of the magazine donning Jacobs-designed pieces. In the issue, which is on sale now, V Magazine highlights some of New York’s most profound figures, people they say “are making the city their own way.” Editor Stephen Gan revealed that he chose the pop star because her representative values parallel those of the magazine. “Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion,” he said in a statement. “She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope. Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city.” Gan declared Gaga “a bonafide genius” and credited her as V Magazine ‘s “muse” of inspiration. “Above all, a New York issue should celebrate people who’ve done great things. We at V are grateful Gaga came along to put the New back in New York!” he concluded. But the singer doesn’t always leave fashion editors with the best impression. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour spoke about the pop star during her stop at “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday. “We had Lady Gaga this year,” she said of the singer’s performance at this year’s Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala. “She was communing with God and she was praying in the back, waiting for God to tell her it was all right to actually go onstage.” Wintour chuckled before revealing that Gaga left the audience waiting for more than 40 minutes. A Personal Tribute to Sean Hannity

A popular phrase among the political left these days is “I support the troops… but.” But what? You either support the troops or you don’t support the troops. If you really support the troops you want to see them pursue a winning strategy in whatever war they’re fighting and come home to a grateful country. That’s whether you agree with the politics involved or not. The military does not start wars and are rarely left to their own devices when it comes to the fighting of one, but some in the media always want to paint our military with the blackest paint available, magnifying the smallest negative and ignoring the most positive. There are however a few highly influential anomalies in that equation and none more dedicated to the sincere and unconditional support of our men and women in uniform than Sean Hannity. Sean’s support for the military is born from a deep and abiding love for America, he is a straight ahead patriot who chops the logs of contention and lets the chips fly, making no apology for where they land. There is no wavering in approach, no wandering off the path to curry favor from one side or the other, no breath of political correctness here, just a man with a common sense approach to the problems that confront America and a willingness to stand alone for his beliefs if it’s necessary. Each week Sean does five three-hour radio shows and five one-hour television shows, each one requiring research and preparation, not to mention the numerous speeches and other public appearances he makes. Yet with all this hectic schedule, Sean Hannity devotes his summer family vacation time to do the Freedom Concert Tour, a coast-to-coast concert series to support the Freedom Alliance, an organization founded by Ollie North, which insures that the children of those who gave their lives or became 100% disabled in the military service of this nation, will be able to get a college education. In addition to devoting several weeks of his and his family’s lives to raising money for this tremendously worthy cause, he has personally given in excess of a million dollars to it. Our troops and their families love Sean Hannity, and with good reason. He is and always has been in their corner; no matter what the political climate or the mood of the country. He realizes that without our military there would be no America. Politicians and pundits sway with the winds of change, but Sean Hannity stands tall for what he believes in and America is a better place for it. Sean Hannity, I love you. May God bless and keep you. Charlie Daniels

Now the Bedbugs Are Threatening the Toronto Film Festival

Because New York moviegoers shouldn’t have to endure this ordeal alone, organizers at the Toronto International Film Festival have confirmed they are fighting bedbugs at the Scotiabank Theater — the primary venue for press and industry attendees from around the world . “Before bedbugs becomes today’s meme: we’re on it, we’re talking to Cineplex & are planning for an itch-free #TIFF10,” tweeted TIFF co-director Cameron Bailey. The Network Emmys Wouldn’t Stop Giving Awards to Cable Shows, Would They?

Tired of seeing Matthew Weiner make Emmy acceptance speeches for Mad Men ? Well, if the major television networks have their way, you might not have to worry about that anymore. Oh sure, the networks are only talking to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences about creating a second Emmy telecast that would banish the cable-heavy categories (mini-series and TV movie) to cable. But that slippery slope could lead to one possibly game-changing destination: The CableACE Awards.

The Emmy Awards: Predicting The Winners

‘Lost,’ ‘Glee’ poised to win big during Sunday night’s telecast. By Kara Warner Matthew Morrison and Jayma Mays in “Glee” Photo: FOX The 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards take place on Sunday night (August 29), which means there’s still time to speculate over who will take trophies home from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Fan favorites Betty White and Neil Patrick Harris have already snagged Emmys — which stars and shows will round out this year’s winners list? Here’s a look at our picks. Outstanding Drama Series It seems that the likely winner here is “Lost,” which ended with a much buzzed-about bang — an estimated 13.5 million viewers tuned into the May 23 series finale . “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad” could also pull out a victory, but Emmy newbie “True Blood” is a long shot. Outstanding Lead Actor And Lead Actress In A Drama Series Fans and critics alike rejoiced at the recognition for “Friday Night Lights” actors Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, but they will have steep competition from previous winners like Bryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad,” Hugh Laurie of “House”, Glenn Close of “Damages” and Mariska Hargitay of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Cranston is the likely winner in the Actor category, while Julianna Margulies of “The Good Wife” is a strong favorite for the Actress award. Outstanding Supporting Actor And Supporting Actress In A Drama Series The likely winners here are Terry O’Quinn for “Lost” and Christina Hendricks for “Mad Men.” Outstanding Comedy Series “Glee” has come out of its first season riding a wave of popularity and hype that landed it . But does the show have enough to beat out perennial favorites “The Office” and “30 Rock” and fend off competition from the other newcomer in this category, “Modern Family”? This is a tough one to call. Outstanding Lead Actor And Lead Actress In A Comedy Series “Glee” stars Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele have very tough competition in their respective categories. “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin has won two Emmys for his portrayal of network exec Jack Donaghy. Baldwin’s co-star Tina Fey is also in the running, as are “Nurse Jackie” star Edie Falco, who won the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series three times for her work on “The Sopranos,” and leader of “The Office” Steve Carell. Outstanding Supporting Actor And Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series As beloved as Chris Colfer is on “Glee,” he’s a long shot against his seasoned competition, which includes “How I Met Your Mother” scene-stealer Harris and Eric Stonestreet of “Modern Family.” Jane Lynch is a lock to take Supporting Actress for her work on “Glee”; the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences likely engraved her name on the trophy when nominations were announced. Outstanding Reality — Competition Program Perennial Emmy favorite “The Amazing Race” will likely beat out ratings juggernauts “American Idol” and “Dancing With The Stars.” “Project Runway” and “Top Chef” are also up for honors. Who do you think will take home Emmys on Sunday night? Let us know in the comments! Related Photos The Year In ‘Glee’
