Teen Dies Saving Girlfriend In California Train Accident This is so sad. The young man lost his life trying to save his girlfriend on their way to the Sadie Hawkins dance. According to SF Gate: A Northern California town was reeling Saturday after learning that a teenage boy was killed and a teenage girl was seriously injured after they were hit by a freight train while walking to a Sadie Hawkins Day dance. The accident Friday evening occurred near Marysville’s only high school and a little league park where a game was being played. Investigators told KCRA-TV the teens were walking southbound on the tracks — the same direction as the train. Relatives told the station the 16-year-old girl, Mickayla Friend, and her boyfriend had planned to take a short walk to the Dollar Tree store to buy some food before heading to the dance at their school. “It’s her first boyfriend, and her first love,” Alithya Friend said. “And she just got it taken away from her in an instant.” The boy died at the scene, and the girl was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with traumatic injuries, CalFire Capt. Dennis Hunt said. Friend said her sister remained in critical condition Saturday. People who were at the game said they heard a long blowing of the train’s horn, and many raced to the scene as the train came to a stop. “The engineer was on the horn,” witness Sean Stark said. “Then finally, they both looked back at the same time.” He said the boy made a split second decision. “They would have both been underneath that train if he didn’t push her out of the way at the last second,” Stark said. Magazine reports : We can exclusively report that Evelyn and her fiance, Carl Crawford, welcomed a healthy baby boy on Saturday, 3/22 at 3:55 am MST. The baby’s name hasn’t been revealed yet, but he weighed in at 8lbs and is 21 inches long. It was a natural birth. New dad Carl is so excited and so is mommy! Congrats! Can’t wait to find out what they named him.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s granddaughter, Yolanda Renee King, served as flower girl during the recent wedding of Andrea Idelle Young, daughter of former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young, and art consultant Jerry Thomas Jr. The wedding was held March 8 at La Fontaine Bleue in Glen Burnie, Md. The bride, daughter of the former mayor and United Nations ambassador and the late Jean Childs Young, is an attorney and executive director of the Atlanta-based Andrew J. Young Foundation.The groom, also an attorney, is the founder of Jerry Thomas Arts, an art consulting and art brokerage firm that specializes in African and African American art.Both have family, business and educational ties to the Washington D.C. area. Andrea Young Thomas graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Law, and Jerry Thomas Jr., the son of Estell Thomas and the late Jerry Thomas Sr. of Washington, earned his law degree at George Washington University. Andrew Young, in attendance with his wife, Carolyn Young, escorted his daughter down the aisle. Olympic Gold Medalist Edwin Moses served as best man.The bride’s sisters, Paula Young Shelton and Lisa Young Alston, served as matrons of honor with Yolanda Renee King, the only grandchild of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, as flower girl.The groom’s brother, Rev. Nathaniel Thomas, conducted the ceremony. The couple met 2008 when Andrea Young visited Thomas’ in-home art gallery. Some 30 years before, while Thomas was serving as a Congressional aide, he met the man would be become his future father-in-law.
