The Bachelorette: Why Was Rachel Lindsay Announced Now?

By now you’ve heard The Bachelor spoilers : Rachel Lindsay is The Bachelorette, despite still being in contention for Nick Viall’s heart. On TV, that is. She’s been eliminated by this point, as filming has concluded. We’re just learning about it ahead of time … from ABC.   Therein lies the true “historic” nature of this announcement. Yes, Rachel Lindsay is the first African-American lead in 34 seasons of the reality franchise. That is significant and a very good thing. Giving away the fact that Rachel, a popular contestant this season, is not The Bachelor winner is a surprising and controversial decision. Rachel is still competing on the show, and will go on a hometown date (as will Corinne Olympios, Raven Gates and Vanessa Grimaldi). You can follow the links above to find out, but the assumption that Nick eliminates her after the hometown date isn’t necessarily true. It wouldn’t make a lot of sense if she made the finale now, but she could easily make it to the subsequent overnights following hometowns. For obvious reasons, the next star of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette has never been announced during the current season they’re on. As a result, Chris Harrison has apologized for this spoiler … one most likely necessitated or inspired by The Bachelor spoilers themselves. The third- or fourth-place finisher going on to be the next lead of the franchise is not abnormal. Finding out about it right now definitely is. If you’re hoping for a detailed, truthful answer to why the show’s brain trust went this route, you’re not gonna get it this week, anyway. “I hate that anything was ruined for #BachelorNation but I’m incredibly excited that @therachlindsay is our new #Bachelorette,” Harrison wrote. Notably absent? Any explanation of why. Entertainment Tonight reports that The Bachelorette will begin production sooner than usual, right after Nick’s season wraps on March 13. Producers need to start the process of casting suitors for Lindsay as soon as possible, and need additional time to generate interest? The producers did do this with Emily Maynard, who wasn’t on The Bachelor that season, as a means of getting applicants / fans excited. Perhaps the fact that Rachel has less of a social media presence than Corinne, Raven or others played a role in their decision to spill? Or, maybe it’s as simple as Chris, Mike Fleiss and their associates wanting to get ahead of the story and control it from the beginning. Every season, it’s spoiled. Just not by them. Rachel Lindsay has a fan base, one that is likely to grow in the period between the announcement and when she’s eliminated by Nick. Now that we know she’s The Bachelorette , the producers can craft what we see on and off the show accordingly to boost her popularity. Moreover, it avoids any disappointment by Bachelor fans who might be hoping for Raven or Vanessa to get the job (or Corinne, LOL). Dragging it out increases the possibility of spoilers, rumors and confusion taking away from Rachel’s announcement tour. No longer. As for whether the viewing audience will accept a black Bachelorette , and rumors that this had something to do with the early unveiling? We don’t see it. View Slideshow: Rachel Lindsay: The Bachelorette! This is a show that has survived since the early 2000s because of its format, not necessarily based on the strength of any one lead. Some leads are more controversial than others (Nick). Others (cough, Juan Pablo Galavis) have even gone onto be universally despised. Still, The Bachelor and Bachelorette soldier on, and by and large, the biggest stars of both genders are more popular with fans than not. Rachel will be no exception. As Harrison put it, she’s “a smart, strong, independent Texan who loves her @dallascowboys. What more could a man want?” Get to know her more via the gallery below and tell us what you think of ABC’s decision to cast her – and do so in unorthodox fashion … View Slideshow: Rachel Lindsay: Get to Know The Bachelorette!

Chelsea Houska: See Her Tell Aubree She’s Becoming a Big Sister!

We've known for a good long while now that Chelsea Houska, the best Teen Mom out of all the Teen Moms, is pregnant with her second child . She announced in July that she and her massively adorable boyfriend ( now husband!!! ), Cole DeBoer, were expecting their first kid together, and we couldn't be more excited about a total stranger's pregnancy. (Oh, and hey, it feels important to note that while this new kid will be Cole's first biological child, he's made it clear that he considers himself a father to Chelsea's older daughter, Aubree, too.) In the months since, we've learned that the new baby will be a little boy , and that he's due to enter the world on Valentine's Day, February 14th. We've kept up with Chelsea's growing bump, we've seen all the photos from her baby shower , and it's all been just grand. But next Monday, on January 2nd, the new season of Teen Mom 2 premieres. And we will get to see so much more of this magical journey. Right now, we've got a brand new clip from the show, and if the rest of Chelsea's role in this season is anything like this, it's going to be painfully cute. In the clip, Chelsea and Cole sit Aubree down to tell her all about the pregnancy — and about her upcoming role as a big sister! See the seriously sweet video below:

The 7 Girls From The Bachelor That Nick Viall Has Slept With

You don't need The Bachelor spoilers to tell you that Nick Viall has been around the block at this point, to say the absolute least. So much so that there are rumored/assumed/widely believed to be seven women from the popular franchise that he's slept with. That we know of. Think about it. He made it to the finale of The Bachelorette , twice. Then went to Paradise . Then was selected as The Bachelor . We're also talking about Nick Viall, a man who's been more open about his sexual exploits than some of his partners might like. So who has he had relations with? At this point, who has he not?! How many are there we can't identify? Is this a TV record? NOTE: This list includes who Nick Viall picks on The Bachelor this season, as well as his other alleged Fantasy Suite guests. If you don't want serious spoilers for this coming campaign to be given away, we suggest you turn back now. Like … right now. 1. Andi Dorfman After coming in second to Josh Murray on The Bachelorette’s 2014 season, Nick asked Andi Dorfman on live TV why she would make love to him if she wasn’t going to get engaged to him. Maybe the most awkward moment ever. 2. Kaitlyn Bristowe Like Andi Dorfman, Kaitlyn Bristowe came in third on The Bachelor, got the starring job on The Bachelorette, made sweet love to Nick Viall and dumped him on the season finale. Deja vu at its finest. 3. Jen Saviano Jen Saviano and Nick hit it off in Paradise last summer, but he eventually dumped her after the spinoff wrapped. Some observers think Nick’s surprising image rehabilitation on Bachelor in Paradise got him The Bachelor gig … and that he dumped Jen once that became a possibility. In any case, they had the sex. 4. Elizabeth Sandoz In one of the funnier twists in recent memory, Nick and Elizabeth Sandoz apparently boned at Tanner Tolbert and Jade Roper’s wedding, after which Nick didn’t call or talk to her … until she was cast on his season of The Bachelor. Gotta hand it to producers on that one. 5. Rachel Lindsay Rachel Lindsay may make history as the first African-American star of The Bachelorette … but if she slept with Nick in the Fantasy Suite, as is widely believed, she has company in that department. 6. Raven Gates Raven Gates is the most awesomely named contestant in Bachelor history. And also hot. As one of Nick’s (rumored) final two this season, we’d say the chances of them not getting naked are slim to none. View Slideshow

The Bachelor Premiere Date: Revealed!!

Nick Viall is ready to kick off 2017 right, and right quick.  The thrice unlucky-in-love franchise mainstay is set to make his debut as The Bachelor, and ABC has just released its premiere date … A perfect cure for your hangover, the Wisconsinite will dole out roses at the mansion beginning with a two-hour episode Monday, January 2. New year, new Bachelor. Same … Nick Viall? One can only hope his fortunes will change this time around, having been dumped by Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe on The Bachelorette . Yes, Nick made it all the way into the finale – and the pants of the aforementioned brunettes – of two different seasons of the reality hit.  Only to be dispatched on both. That’s some cold s–t. The Bachelor Promo: Hello, Nick Viall! He also made a run at love on Bachelor in Paradise , only to lose his girl to Josh Murray (Andi’s final rose winner) a second time. Cruel. Now the roses are in his hands, though! Literally. According to an ABC release announcing the premiere, Nick is “back stronger than ever, ready and eager to begin his search for true love.” “After all these years, and all the heartbreak, it’s finally Nick’s turn to hand out the roses. Will he finally find that love he’s craved?” “He believes in finding love on the series.” Clearly. Fourth time’s the charm! Fans were stunned when ABC named Nick Viall The Bachelor in August, as he seemed like a total mismatch to carry the 21st season. After all … haven’t we been there and done that? Especially with JoJo Fletcher suitors Luke Pell or Chase McNary waiting in the wings, few if anyone thought Nick would get the job. That includes Nick himself, to hear him describe it. Chris Harrison, who will of course be returning for a 21st season at the helm, says that at the end of the day, fans need to chill because: 1. The producers knows what they’re doing. 2. Nick is actually an awesome guy! “Look, the good news is it’s worked for him. He has fallen in love on this show and he has sincerely tried to make it work,” Chris said. “Unfortunately, he’s just come up a little bit short each time.” “He’s done his part, he will give himself to this process.” “He is that sincere guy who really does want to make this work,” the host said, adding that Viall was simply the best candidate. “Again, at the end of the day this wasn’t an indictment on Luke or Chase as much as it was more of a compliment to Nick.” You buying what Chris is selling? Amanda Stanton: Single Moms Should NOT Give Up On Love!

Amanda Stanton was one of the most genuine Bachelor in Paradise stars this summer.  She went on the show to try and find a suitor who would love her for her and she accomplished that goal.  She was initially paired up with Nick Viall, but her attention changed to Josh Murray when he arrived at the beautiful Mexican home all of the contestants shared.  This did not sit well with Nick, who previously butted heads with Murray on The Bachelorette.  If you recall, Josh Murray won Andi Dorfman’s heart on his season of the show.  Like most The Bachelor franchise relationships, their pairing did not last very long.  Dorfman even released a tell-all book that chronicled part of her relationship with Murray.  However, it appears that Amanda Stanton and Josh Murray are totally head over heels.  They are engaged and things appear to be going rather smoothly for them.  Josh Murray, Amanda Stanton on Bachelor in Paradise Stanton has now revealed that she was embarrassed about not having a perfect family after things went south for her and ex-husband, Nick Buonfiglio. The reality TV star has now took to her blog to reveal that single moms should not give up on love. “I became a single mother when Kinsley was barely 2 and Charlie was a newborn,” Stanton shares. “My parents moved halfway across the country to St. Louis six months prior, I was trying to lose the 40 pounds I gained during pregnancy, still breastfeeding and throwing a pity party for myself while living in a family friend’s house in Malibu.” “Meanwhile, their father was dating multiple girls he was meeting on Tinder, became a regular at the local bars and was going on trips to Vegas with his friends every other weekend.” “I remember thinking it was so unfair that he could just break up our family and then go back to living his life the way he did pre-children while my world completely revolved around them.” It is nice that Stanton thought it was necessary to give fans this insight into what went down after her relationship concluded.  It’s clear she’s a great mother to both of her kids. There’s even reports they like Murray, too.  It’s kind of a win-win situation. It’s great that things are going great from them and that wedding bells are ringing.  Josh has been one of the more popular contestants on the franchise in recent years, so there’s a good chance that the two of them could get their own spin-off.  There’s something about them that’s infinitely more interesting than Ben & Lauren.  Only Freefrom cares about their next chapter.  What do you think of the blog post? Nick Viall: Whoa! I’m The Bachelor?!?

Are you still shocked that  Nick Viall has been chosen as the next Bachelor on ABC? You’re not alone. Nick Viall is as stunned as anyone. A few days after Viall appeared on the Bachelor in Paradise after-show to announce the news, he’s made it clear over Instagram that he still can’t believe it’s true. Yes, he’s appeared twice on The Bachelorette and is currently a cast member on the aforementioned franchise spinoff. But still. He’s getting a FOURTH shot at love?!? “The look when it hasn’t quite sunk in yet,” Viall wrote as a caption to the selfie above, adding: “Couldn’t feel more fortunate. Incredibly thankful for all the support. We are going to have some fun! #thebachelor.” Not everyone agrees with this assessment, of course. There’s a petition going around to have both Viall AND Pell as the Bachelors this spring, with the women on the show eventually deciding who ought to be the sole star. Viall, however, seems immune to the criticism. Soon after being confirmed as The Bachelor, he posted with the After Paradise crew (above) and wrote on his Instagram account: “Wow!! Couldn’t be more excited, nervous, and thankful for this opportunity!! It’s going to be a wild ride. “Thank you to everyone for all their support! So thankful!!!! HERE WE GO!! #thebachelor #bachelorinparadise #thankyou.” Most fans of The Bachelor had assumed that Pell would earn this gig, and that includes Pell himself. He’s gone on record in saying just how close he actually got to standing alongside Chris Harrison when the series returns next year. “We were all satisfied, had agreed to the contracts and everything was moving forward,” Pell told Us Weekly on Thursday. “I was checked in to my flight to come to L.A. I got a call from producers Sunday night at about 10 p.m. They said ABC had decided to quote-unquote go in a different direction. “I was supposed to fly out Monday morning at 9 a.m. I had my bags packed and everything. Most dramatic Monday ever!” Wow, yeah. We’d say so. Do you think ABC made the right call? Who would YOU want to see as the Bachelor number-21? And the Winner is? But would you prefer to have seen Luke Pell picked for this position? View Poll » Viall has finished twice as the runner-up on The Bachelorette. Many see him as an odd selection because he’s actively involved these days with Bachelor in Paradise, meaning he’s seemingly looking for love on television this summer already. Lauren Himle – who costarred with Viall on Season 3 of that show – told Detroit’s The Ticket radio station a few days ago that she isn’t happy with how the newly-crowned Bachelor treated Jen Saviano.  “I am not a big fan of [Viall],” said Himle. “He dated my great friend Jen on Bachelor in Paradise … but it was my understanding that they were still seeing each other after the show completed.” Wait… so how serious were Viall and Saviano after the ABC dating show concluded filming? Himle said they were “still together in a relationship.” And this was just last week! View Slideshow: Nick Viall as The Bachelor: Twitter Reacts! The Bachelor producers, of course, is probably loving this controversy. Look at how many headlines the casting of Viall has generated over the past few days? Viewers may claim that they won’t tune in to see Viall search for a wife again next spring, but let’s face it: they will. Even if you hate watch The Bachelor online or on television, you are still watching it. ABC will gladly take your eyeballs and the ratings they bring in.

Luke Pell Speaks on Bachelor Snub: ABC Screwed Me Over!

Okay, so maybe Luke Pell isn’t taking the whole Bachelor casting snub thing very well after all… On Tuesday night, ABC stunned viewers by passing over Pell (the presumed favorite) in favor of Nick Viall as the next Bachelor . Starting this spring with new episodes of the reality series, Viall will be given his fourth shot to find contrived love, following a pair of runner-up finishes on The Bachelorette and his current gig on Bachelor in Paradise. The selection came as a shock to those who watch The Bachelor online and who follow this franchise closely. At first, however, Pell seemed to take the rejection in stride. Just consider the following meme and message: “Thanks for all the love and support over the past few months, sometimes in life we are faced with unexpected changes,” Pell wrote on Instagram. A tad bit extreme, considering this “unexpected challenge” and this reference to God having a plan in centered on anchoring The Bachelor? Some might say. But it at least proven that Pell was handling the surprising selection very well. Now, however, Pell has come out and told Us Weekly that he was closer than folks could have possibly imagined to being named The Bachelor. And then it was taken away from him. “We were all satisfied, had agreed to the contracts and everything was moving forward,” Pell explains to Us Weekly . “I was checked in to my flight to come to L.A. I got a call from producers Sunday night at about 10 p.m. They said ABC had decided to quote-unquote go in a different direction. “I was supposed to fly out Monday morning at 9 a.m. I had my bags packed and everything.” And the Winner is? But would you prefer to have seen Luke Pell picked for this position? View Poll » Pell became a fan favorite this past season on The Bachelorette while he was competing to be JoJo Fletcher’s husband. ABC executives have admitted that Viall was chosen at the last minute, but we didn’t realize it really was at the very last minute. According to Pell, far more than just an airline ticket had been purchased. “We had planned for intro filming and had planned to have my sister come on for a date and give advice as part of the show,” he says of how far into negotiations he got with the network. “I met with the wardrobe guys. Everything was moving forward. Everyone on the production level was expecting it to be me, as well.” Is Pell bitter over the way things went? Yes, clearly. Sort of at least. But he’s an alum of West Point. He’s come to “accept the decision,” he says, pointing to his military background in his response. “From all my years in the military, I’ve learned that some things are out of my control,” he told Us Weekly, adding: “I put it in the past, and I’m moving forward. It was a huge surprise, but the element of surprise and unexpected decisions is what the show thrives off of.” That’s very true. And puts it in perspective. Compared to some of the things he’s seen, done and prepared for in service to our country, this setback is pretty minor. Plus, he’s got his whole life ahead of him, reality TV or not. Would he do The Bachelor some time down the line if asked? Probably not at this point. For now, Pell is home in Nashville, Tenn., and says he’s focused on being “an entrepreneur and a songwriter.” He’s also still focused on finding a wife.  View Slideshow: Nick Viall and Andi Dorfman (and Kaitlyn Bristowe): What Might Have Been!
