Source: Ryan Muir Who knew A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was this popular (no shots). Last Friday (March 8) a riot erupted at the Queens Center Mall at A Boogie’s book signing event inside the building. CBS reported that a few hours before the Bronx rapper’s autograph session was scheduled to begin, the crowd inside the mall became unruly and after a few fist fights broke out the crowd decided it was a good a time as any to begin looting stores inside the shopping center. “They fought in Foot Locker, and people were stealing shirts while they were fighting,” one witness said. Several hours after the madness erupted, the mall and rapper posted on social media that the event was cancelled. Police say as those posts circulated, the crowds began to subside. Once police arrived on the scene the anarchy was put under control and two people were taken into custody. No word yet on whether A Boogie’s autograph session is going to be rescheduled but at least now they know to hire way more security should they decide to attempt another one. Source: Tim Mosenfelder / Getty BOSSIP Recap And Twitter Reactions Of #UsFirst Screening BOSSIP was fortunate enough to be in attendance last night for the very first screening of Jordan Peele ‘s new horror masterpiece Us at SCAD Show here in Atlanta. We’re not going to spoil anything for y’all, but we wanted to share our thoughts on the event as well as the enthralled social media reactions. First and foremost, Jordan, the folks at Monkeypaw Productions, Cashmere Agency, and all related parties did not even remotely attempt to obfuscate the fact that this screening was FUBU. The entire theater, sans one gray-haired white man who appeared to be an employee, was Black. Everyone. Prior to the start of the film, it was explicitly announced that Black media, influencers, film fans, and celebrities would be the first people to view Us . We were the first to see ourselves, which is very on-brand for the film’s ethos. Even the official hashtag #UsFirst was overtly on-the-nose despite the fact that Peele had previously stated that Us is not about race. But who are we kidding? Everything is about race, especially last night. It was beautiful. Again, without spoiling anything, the movie itself is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. It’s subversive while still adhering to and nodding at horror trope tradition. Jordan Peele executes these directorial ideologies with the effortless technique of Gabby Douglas on the balance beam. The pacing demands your attention. The cinematography could produce an economy of iconic movie posters. If you were creeped out by the way Jordan used The Luniz classic “I Got 5 On It” in the trailer…just you wait. Some of your favorite songs will never be the same thanks to the insidious score and maniacal music supervision. The way light is used to make Black skin leap from the screen might make you shed the same tears that Lupita does in the trailer. It’s all done brilliantly. Speaking of Lupita and brilliance, listen, ok, we all know that the Academy Awards can be full of it, but sometimes they get it right like they did with Get Out . If the Oscar folk thought that Get Out was worthy of their self-serving praise, then we can’t even imagine a world in which Lupita Amondi Nyong’o doesn’t get one of their lil’ gold trinkets for this performance. During National Women’s Month no less. Give her ALL of her things, create some more things, then give those to her as well. There aren’t enough superlatives. She’s THAT good as are M’Baku-turned-dork-dad Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex, Elisabeth Moss (OfFred was WILDIN’), and Tim Heidecker. Screenings took place simultaneously nationwide at SXSW, Atlanta, New York, and Los Angeles. BOSSIP along with many of our Black media peers all got to see the movie at the same damn time and reactions began rolling immediately after the credits ran. Give Teresa Giudice points for honesty. And then take away all those points for a complete lack of love and loyalty. Over the past several weeks, we’ve been hearing non-stop rumblings that Teresa will file to divorce husband Joe after he is freed from prison in a couple weeks — and then deported back to Italy. We even reported on the rumor that she’s already met with a divorce lawyer . Now, however, it’s been made clear that all this talk is far closer to a reality than a rumor… according to Teresa herself. Speaking to Andy Cohen during the final part of The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion, Giudice was asked about this very personal topic and, to her credit we guess, answered very candidly. “I’m not doing a long distance relationship. I’m not doing it,” she told Cohen. “I want somebody with me every day.” Well, yes. We all want that. But Teresa and Joe conspired years ago to break the law when they lied about their assets while filing for bankruptcy. As a result, each served many months in prison; also as a result, a judge decreed this past October that Joe must return to Italy because he never formally became a U.S. citizen. Perhaps you should have thought this whole thing through before you defrauded the government, TG. “I know exactly what happens — I’m sure he’ll be with other women. It happens,” Teresa said, looking ahead to a future of her in America and Joe abroad. “You do the long-distance thing, it’s not going to work. I’d be like, ‘Bye bye.’” What an odd thing to say on multiple levels. First… you’re sure that your husband will be with other women because he lives far away? Doesn’t sound like the most stable relationship. Second… you could just move to Italy, too, you know that, right, Teresa? “Unless my kids say, ‘Mommy, we want to move to Italy,’ [we] are not going],” Teresa said of this option, explaining of her kids: “Gia’s going to college next year; I haven’t spoken to Milania or Audriana about it, we haven’t gotten there yet; and Gabriella already voiced her opinion to me. She was like, ‘That would be so hard for me, Mommy.’ “She doesn’t speak the language. She’s like, ‘That would kill me even more.’” Indeed, Joe and Teresa share four daughters: Gia, 18, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 10. It’s easy to mock this couple because they’re spoiled and entitled and just suck a whole lot. But we do feel bad for their children. “It’s like starting a whole new life,” Teresa says of moving. “And they’ve been through so much already.” Teresa, meanwhile, is already looking ahead — both professionally and personally. She is allegedly lining up a Bravo spinoff that will focus on her life as a newly single mother. And she appears to be romantically involved with Blake Schreck , a realtor who is 20 years her junior. They were spotted holding hands and making out in Miami this winter. “There is no cheating, no divorce,” Teresa’s lawyer has said of this alleged affair, however. “End of story.” That tracks to us… except for the part where Teresa just said a divorce is almost definitely happening. Earlier this week, we reported on the recent evolution of Jax Taylor , the abusive, sociopathic Vanderpump Rules star who now claims to have changed his ways. And what does that have to do with former Kail Lowry husband and current Teen Mom 2 star Javi Marroquin? Well, like Jax, Javi is one of those guys who expects a hearty pat on the back for the achievement of becoming slightly less douchey over the course of several years. If you’re a TM2 viewer, then you’re probably already aware Javi is now engaged to Lauren Comeau . And he seems intent on creating the sort of stable nuclear family that he was unable to build with Kail. Javi and Lauren welcomed their first child back in November, and the couple recently purchased a house together. Marroquin even opened his own Crossfit gym , seemingly as a baby step away from the high-profile world of reality television. In the past, Javi has blamed MTV stardom for the failure of his marriage to Kail. And so, it came as quite a surprise to many when Lauren agreed to appear on the current season of Teen Mom 2 . If Javi’s last relationship melted under the spotlight, isn’t he concerned that fame will have the same effect on his current romance? No, says Javi, as he’s now a changed man and at least 10 percent less douchey than when he was married to Kail. Javi made this revelation during a recent interview with OK! magazine. Marroquin admits that he and Comeau went through some hard times early in their relationship as a result of his fame. “We had so much thrown at us at once,” he tells the tabloid. “I think I’ve been getting better. There was a point where I was like, I’m gonna do what I want and I don’t care about the results, good or bad , but then Lauren came around and [son] Eli came around.” Not an awesome attitude for a father of two young boys to have, but that’s one of the ways in which Javi claims he’s changed. “Me and Lauren are doing so much better than we were,” he adds. Javi says his relationship has been “different” ever since he and Lauren reconciled last year. The first time around, he says, “We were going out, drinking, but then Eli was born and we couldn’t do all that stuff.” After the birth of his second son, however, Javi says he and Lauren “went out for her birthday.” He notes that the occasion was “so much fun. It reminded me of all the stuff we used to do.” So has Javi really changed, or did he just change while Lauren was pregnant? We guess only time will tell. Even if you didn’t watch the film when it premiered on HBO this week, by now, you’ve almost certainly caught wind of some of the more appalling accusations contained in the Michael Jackson documentary Leaving Neverland . The late pop star’s family has described the film as a ” public lynching ” but many viewers have attested that Neverland removed any doubts they once may have harbored regarding Jackson’s guilt. One important figure who remains unconvinced by the latest allegations against the pop star is Michael’s daughter, Paris Jackson. Insiders say Paris has not yet watched the documentary and has no plans to do so. And while she’s reportedly concerned that the film might derail her acting career , Paris is “not the least bit torn or conflicted about its content,” according to TMZ. On social media, Paris has been sending the message that she’s not the least bit troubled by the events of the past week. The day after the documentary premiered, she tweeted, “Don’t take life too seriously, life already takes itself serious enough as it is.” Shortly thereafter, she posted a video of herself and a friend giddily dancing about her home/ Fans responded with declarations of Michael’s innocence — many featuring the #MJInnocent hashtag — and attacks against his two most prominent accusers, Wade Robson and James Robson. “Paris, I know it must be hard, but we as fans don’t have enough power to defend Michael by ourselves,” wrote one follower. “We need you and your family. These liars just can’t get away with it. Silence sometimes it’s the best option,but it isn’t now. We need your strength, we need to be together in this. Another tweeted simply: “We love you Paris! We stand behind your family 100%! #MJInnocent” Of course, the fact remains that even if one clings the misguided belief that Jackson’s many accusers are all lying, issues don’t get much more serious than child abuse and molestation. Thus, Paris’ decision to laugh the whole thing off like it’s some silly PR stunt is simply unacceptable, and her response serves as a tremendous display of disrespect to millions of victims. Obviously, she’s in no way responsible for her father’s alleged crimes, but her refusal to acknowledge the growing mountain of evidence against him is at best a cynical misstep, and at worst, a calculated effort to discredit and silence her father’s alleged victims. Even if Paris is unable to come to terms with her father’s abuse and depravity, she should at least treat the topic with the gravity it deserves. Jackson’s inner circle is maintaining a united front against the Neverland that likely has as much to with protecting the singer’s billion dollar estate as it does with defending the pop star’s legacy. According to TMZ, Paris’ cousin Taj Jackson has accused Robson of “making it all up for revenge.” The site also reports that Paris’ mother, Debbie Rowe, recently revealed that she “doesn’t see a point in watching” the film due to the fact that “Michael’s been dead for years.” There’s certainly no established etiquette for reacting to a documentary that accuses your deceased father of unspeakable acts. So maybe for that reason, Paris is deserving of sympathy — but Wade Robson and James Safechuck remain the real victims here. And the least Paris could do is acknowledge that her father confessed to some truly horrifying acts during his lifetime — and he might be guilty of far worse. According to rumors, the tentatively named AirPods 2 will feature a wireless charging case that achieves a full charge in 15-minutes. The case along with the AirPower mat was promised by Apple with the announcement of the iPhone X. Leaker Max Weinbach who doesn’t really have a great track record when it comes to his rumors drop the news about the AirPods 2 on his Twitter account. He states “wireless charging will happen” and will apply to both the case and the AirPods. The case will be able to achieve this “super fast wireless charging” by utilizing Qi coils, the technology that can already be found in Apple’s iPhone 8, X, XS, XS Max, and XR smartphones. While this is a huge improvement from generation 1’s current 3-hour battery life after a 15-minute charge, there are some downsides. Weinbach reports that the case will be “bigger in one direction and heavier,” fans should not be worried though. So the Apple news. AirPods wireless charging will happen. It will be VERY fast (0-100 in 15 minutes.) That speed is for the AirPods AND the case. It will probably use Qi charging. Ortega / Getty On Monday night, cast members and plenty of other important people were in attendance for the world premiere of Marvel’s latest highly-anticipated project, Captain Marvel . The event was absolutely major and also happened to be the first of these events helmed by a woman, making the stakes even higher. Brie Larson got huge applause when introducing the film at the Dolby Theatre, summing up the special moment by admitting, “I’m crying a lot today.” Roughly 100 members of the Air Force were met with a standing ovation after their jets had flown over Hollywood Blvd. to kick off the event just a few hours earlier. Captain Marvel is expected to open somewhere in the $125 million range this weekend, which is definitely something for the studio to boast about. But even before its release, the movie has been met with its fair share of criticism–mostly consisting of some angry white men being upset over Brie Larson’s comments about diversity . Now, following the film’s premiere last night, some not-so-rave reviews have hit the web juxtaposed by others who have been praising the movie endlessly. So who are we to believe in a world full of conflicting opinions? Well, the obvious answer is to just see the movie for yourself, but we’re in the age of instant gratification. While we wait for the regular folk release of Captain Marvel on Friday, let’s take a look at what some people who already saw the film are saying about it–but don’t worry, no spoilers here. A lot of the reviews make mention of DC’s “feminist hero” film, Wonder Woman–which isn’t surprising, considering we’re talking about the two major comic book film studios and their attempts at women-leading projects. “DC did it better. In fact I'd argue Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman was more charismatic than Brie Larson as #CaptainMarvel . I mean Wonder Woman was THE feminist hero. Stop giving excuses. Just say #CaptainMarvel was terrible and you hated it. Or if you loved it tell that. All the reviewers are contradicting themselves in their reviews. If anything, seeing so many contradicting reviews will just make people more eager to see the film to find out what all the fuss is about.
These days, it seems not a week goes by without some new report of Meghan Markle pissing off her royal in-laws. Of course, while it’s true that the Windsors can be a stuffy and unforgiving lot, you can safely bet that most of these reports are the result of a British tabloid press that very much wants to believe Meghan is despised by Prince Harry’s family. It’s almost as if there’s some sort of obvious difference between Meghan and, say, Kate Middleton. It must be that Meghan is too American , as the outlets like The Sun have repeatedly claimed. Or perhaps it’s just that the royals are still biased against actresses after that whole Wallis Simpson affair of [checks notes] 83 years ago. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Perhaps we’ll never quite know why the tabloid press is so eager to push the narrative that the royals want Meghan condemned to the scullery like Emma Stone in The Favourite . But for whatever reason, the smear campaign continues. The latest claim about the mostly-made-up Meghan vs. the Windsors feud comes from this side of the pond for a change, as Radar Online is reporting that there’s some lingering beef over Meghan’s New York City baby shower . Several outlets reported that the royals were not thrilled about the event, as it goes against their traditions. None of Meg’s in-laws were in attendance, though she reportedly extended invitations to several members of her UK fam. Now, there are reports that Meghan will soon attend a UK baby shower, this one hosted by Kate Middleton. While the two celebrations will be very different in everything from tone to guest list, they’ll reportedly have one big thing in common — the absence of Princess Beatrice. PB is the daughter of Prince Andrew and the infamous Fergie (the duchess, not the Black Eyed Pea), and according to Radar, she and Meghan have never seen eye-to-eye. Insiders say Meghan extending an invitation to Beatrice “would have helped prove to the world that there’s no beef between Meg and the blood princesses of the family.” Meg simply wasn’t having it, however, primarily between Bea has “occasionally been an awful snob” to her. Sounds to us like reason enough for a solid snub! Despite the fact that she’s apparently no big fan of Meghan’s, Bea was reportedly wounded by the snub and is now “determined to make things even harder for Meghan,” the insider claims. So it looks like it’s time for yet another quite-possibly-fake royal feud. Move over, Meghan vs. Kate ! We’re just weeks away from Meghan Markle’s due date, and not surprisingly, the tabloids are loaded with reports about the mom-to-be stressing over last minute details. Of course, Meghan’s situation is relatable to millions, and since most media outlets live in fear of anyone considering the Duchess of Sussex even remotely likable, they had to go and put the usual “diva” spin on it. Whereas someone who is well-liked by the fickle gossip hounds of the tabloid media might be depicted as a harried mom feathering her nest while frantically attending to her many professional obligations, Meghan is saddled with the mom-zilla label. That’s not really a thing, in case you were wondering, but let’s dive into this mess, anyway: “She’s totally being a mom-zilla with the home renovation,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online. “Right now she is being a task-master,” the insider adds, as though that’s a bad thing. The insider goes on to claim that Meghan is — gasp! — working hard and keeping busy in the final weeks of her pregnancy. “She is not taking a break and has a long list to accomplish for the new house,” added the source. Remember Meghan’s baby shower in New York last week? The one that was criticized as decadent and wasteful by the UK media, even though there were like 12 people in attendance, and Meghan’s friends paid for the whole thing? Yeah, now the tactic has changed and Meg is being slammed for not being fully present during the event. “Even at her recent baby shower in New York City she was on the phone with people in the U.K. at all hours barking orders at them for — of all things — the paint,” says the source. The insider goes on to say that Meghan is decorating Frogmore Cottage as she sees fit, without any approval from palace officials. Sounds like a perfectly reasonable thing to us, but what do we know? “She was told she needed approval and she said she didn’t care about approval because she doesn’t need approval and what she says goes,” says the insider. “She’s making demands left and right and friends worry because she is on the go all the time and simply not taking any breaks.” You almost have to marvel when the anti-Meghan invective has full-blown split personality disorder like this. Meghan is a spoiled diva, but she’s also working way too hard? Which is it? We guess when you can’t decide on a single trash-talk strategy, it’s best to just hurl all of your BS at the wall and see what sticks.
