On the entertainment front, Taylor Swift had a relatively quiet year. Following allegations that a DJ groped her during a 2013 photo opportunity, Swift testified under oath as part of her harassment lawsuit against David Mueller. She had alleged that Mueller reached under her skirt and grabbed her butt during a meet-and-greet four years ago, an accusation that actually prompted Mueller to sue Swift for defamation. But Taylor refused to back down. First, her testimony and other pieces of evidence caused a judge to dismiss Mueller’s lawsuit . Then, the singer won her countersuit against Mueller , earning raucous praise for how she handled herself on the witness stand amidst a barrage of victim-shaming attempts by Mueller’s lawyer. (“I am not going to allow your client to make me feel like it is any way my fault because it isn’t,” she said at one point to the attorney.) Due to how strongly she stood up for herself and, by extension, other victims of harassment, Swift was included this week on Time’s Person of the Year cover: The issue honors the “Silence Breakers” who have helped exposed an unseemly number of sexual harassers and predators around the country. Asked by the publication why she was so aggressive in her fight against Mueller, Swift replied as follows: “I figured that if he would be brazen enough to assault me under these risky circumstances and high stakes, imagine what he might do to a vulnerable, young artist if given the chance. “It was important to report the incident to his radio station because I felt like they needed to know. “The radio station conducted its own investigation and fired him. Two years later, he sued me.” Swift added that she spoke to Kesha at one point to find out more of what she went through after suing producer Dr. Luke for sexual misconduct. The superstar also praised all the “brave women” speaking out in public about their experiences for helping “move the needle in terms of letting people know that this abuse of power shouldn’t be tolerated.” The #MeToo movement got underway in earnest after Harvey Weinstein was exposed as a serial sexual predator. After Alyssa Milano sent a Tweet that asked women (and men) to use the hashtag #MeToo if they had been the victim of any sort of unwanted sexual act or comment, an endless array of social media users followed suit. As a result, celebrities such as Kevin Spacey, Louis CK, Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer have lost their jobs (and their statuses) in the wake of troubling allegations. We can likely expect more and more famous men to be outed as generally awful people in this regard in the coming weeks and months. It’s depressing and disturbing to learn of these incidents. It’s almost like they thought, “Darn, Danielle is not bringing the drama we thought she would. What Posche Really Stands For Siggy and Dolores showed up to prepare for the fashion show, Kim wanted to know how her claims about Teresa being a cheat went down with everyone. “Everyone hates you so much,” Siggy said proving again that she is not one to try and sugar coat things. Kim then said that she heard Teresa was done with Jone, so she could do what she wanted. That’s when Siggy and Dolores defended her. “Welcome to the Posche fundraiser. Toodloo!” Kim said to the women as she gave them a breather. Teresa claimed to Melissa that she would keep her composure and not fight with her hands because she needed to keep it together or she ran the risk of being hauled back to jail. Not one to show any fear, Kim said that she would fight Teresa, Margaret, Dolores, and Melissa. Yes, really. “I’ll take you all, come on,” the villain said, but it was not clear whether she was smiling, or pooping her pants. We can thank the botox for that. “Nobody is gonna talk about my husband or me,” Teresa says. “You talked about my husband two years ago. Did you see him fuck another girl?” That’s when Kim said Teresa has been spotted out at clubs and getting close to other men. “Piece Of Shit, Coke Whore, Home Wrecker Every Day!,” Teresa said of what Posche stands for. Her attempt to string a sentence together failed because it did not make sense. Kim then went for the jugular and said that if Teresa got rowdy, she would have her locked up. Melissa tried to defend Teresa and asked Siggy and Dolores whether they were disgusted yet by what they were seeing. Dolores started yelling and getting up in her grill. Teresa left and referred to Siggy and Dolores as Kim’s puppets. Siggy and Dolores See the Light The next day, Siggy and Dolores went to dinner with Frank, and he was straight to the point about understanding where Teresa was coming from. The two women agreed that maybe they should have left the event, and Siggy went to visit Teresa to let her know she was sorry. Teresa accepted, and they were friends again, but Melissa was still unsure about the pair making their way to Milan. Melissa closed her segment essentially saying that Dolores had better watch her back. Is anyone else her just for Melissa and Danielle teaming up to take down Dolores? Like Mother, Like Daughter The other big plot strand was Marge Sr. going on a date with Margaret’s accountant. Margaret and her husband went along for the ride to chaperone the date, but it became clear there was something sketchy going on. Margaret made ill-timed comments about her mother still being capable of “swallowing.” Yes, that is what Steve will be dealing with if he becomes a permanent fixture to the family. The Other Side In a more serious scene, Melissa, Teresa, and Joe spoke to a medium about Nona’s passing, and the medium said that she was happily on the other side and is out of her pain. It was unsettling because all three of them were bawling their eyes out. The only thing that irked me was that the woman could have gotten her information from watching every episode of the show before meeting them. Sigh. What did you think of this episode? Now that Meghan Markle is officially a global celebrity, the Internet is hard at work digging up old photos of the future Mrs. Prince Harry. There was this throwback picture of Markle as a student at Northwestern, one that is clear evidence she doesn’t ever age. And now there’s another intriguing image making the rounds, one that is clear evidence Harry is marrying a hottie! TMZ has uncovered a trio of photos of Markle that were snapped back in 2013 for a spread in a Canadian magazine called Sharp. Which is apt. Because the following snapshot puts Markle’s beauty in sharp focus, wouldn’t you say? Markle, of course, has worked as an actress for years. So it’s only natural that she has a history of revealing photo shoots and/or certain scenes that Queen Elizabeth likely wishes did not exist. The exciting news was announced two days after Kensington Palace also announced the actual news of Harry and Markle getting engaged , doing so via the following statement: “His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. “Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.” On Friday, meanwhile, the newly engaged stars stepped out together holding hands on Friday in Nottingham, England at the Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity fair. Not counting the photo shoot below, it was their first public appearance as two people who have agreed to marry. The 36-year old actress was greeted with a very warm welcome by all who saw her at the event. The palace noted in a statement that Harry has been extremely vocal about his passion in raising awareness for HIV/AIDS and was “looking forward to introducing Ms. Markle to a community that has become very special to him.” Markle, it should be said, has also been deeply involved in humanitarian work for years, which is a major reason why the two hit it off last July after they were set up on a blind date. Harry and Meghan are both very attractive. That probably also helped with the initial attraction. E pisode 6, of The Walking Dead , titled “The King, the widow and Rick” breaks this season’s trend action-filled episodes and dials it back. Tonight’s episode opens up with each of the camps communicating with one another via letters filling each other on how the war with The Saviors is going. We learn that according to Rick the plan is working and that its main goal was to successfully cut off The Sanctuary’s supply route. That does seem to be the case based on the events that took place on last weeks episode where the workers decided to voice their frustrations. The reaction to Rick’s word doesn’t invoke a spirit of togetherness as members of the team decide to handle things their own way. King Ezekiel is still on down and out after witnessing his men getting slaughtered and his pet tiger getting ripped to shreds by walkers. Who knew that Rick and his people would become pen pals while in the midst of war? On The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6 , the various factions continued the war to end all wars, and everyone got caught up with one another via letters. Rick sent a letter that brought hope to all. He said they were winning the war, and that they would all meet up at the Sanctuary in two days to take Negan and his people out of the equation for good. Winning the war would make people happy, but Michonne and Rosita went on a mission to check what was really going on. A part of them did not believe Rick’s words, so they hit the road. The two ladies found out quickly what the other Saviors meant by “the fat lady.” It was a truck, and two Saviors were trying to get the music pumping to get the walkers away from the Sanctuary. A scuffle ensued, and the female Savior almost got away with the truck, but Daryl appeared in the nick of time and rammed the woman off the road. Things then took an exciting turn when it was revealed that they were headed for the Sanctuary with a truck full of explosives. Maybe they should try and get on board with their leader because this is just plain sad. Remember the man Carl encountered on The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 1? Carl went out of his way to find him this week, and he found out his name was Sadiq. Carl gave the man food and water and a lengthy excuse about why Rick flipped out on him. Sadiq opened up about killing a healthy dose of walkers because he felt like he was honoring his mother’s wishes by freeing their souls back into the world. In a weird way, it’s actually nice, right?! The two formed an unlikely bond and Carl reiterated that he would be helping him from here on out, but what will Rick say about it? Meanwhile, at the Hilltop, Jesus and Maggie continued to bicker over the prisoners that were delivered. Maggie was still bitter about what happened to Glen and felt like showing mercy to them would be a bad move. Maggie then chatted with Gregory who gave her an idea to build a compound for the prisoners. She announced they would be kept there, and treated well as long as they worked on the side of good. Oh, and Gregory was thrown into the pen. There goes his chance of making it back to being the leader. Maggie revealed that she was only keeping them alive in the event they are needed. Rick then went to Jadis and tried to negotiate a new deal. He wanted her to be part of a post-Saviors coalition, but she did not want anything to do with him and had him thrown in a shipping container with the letter “A” on it. This cannot be good.
