If you are a fan of the hit CW series Riverdale I apologize in advance for this heartbreaking news. But Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have called it quits. Don’t worry, characters Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones are still going strong! But as for the actors, well we’re going to go ahead and say they’re probably not too eager to start filming for season 4. The co-stars have not yet addressed the claims, but Cole did accidentally drop the bomb while in San Diego at Comic-Con over the weekend. Lili and Cole were all smiles at the film festival event where they discussed their popular series , though they reportedly kept their distance and were “rarely seen together,” according to an Us Weekly source. And while space doesn’t necessarily point to a breakup, the source did overhear Cole talking to a friend where he shared that he and Lili had broken up. *Cue the tears* According to a source from E! , however, the two split earlier this summer and they are also “not living together this season.” The US source definitely left out some pretty important deets (like why the two had to break up and totally ruin our day?!) but we were informed that Lili and Cole left the event separately. And now that we know their little secret, we feel super uncomfortable looking back at photos from the weekend where the two got stuck sitting next to each other on a panel. “Please don’t put me between these two ever again,” the actress wrote of her seating arrangement which was in between AJ Kappa and Sprouse. We’re sure she was joking, this cast is super close , but now that the cat’s out of the bag we can’t help but feel pretty awkward for their predicament. Other outlets have also confirmed the split. And while these reports may come as a shock to most fans, don’t worry quite yet because there are still hopes for a reconciliation. (!!!) “Right now, it’s unclear where things stand, but it seems [like] they could be heading back in the direction of getting together,” the insider spilled. Reinhart and Sprouse began dating back in February 2017, though they didn’t confirm their romance until July 2017 to People . The actors, who also play BF and GF on their teen drama , kept their relationship private for the most part, but they couldn’t hold back from posting adorable photos of each other to Instagram. And even though they were totally in love, it took them a while to realize it. “Lili was a tough egg to crack, she’s very shy at first, reserved, and I think it was about halfway into the first season she started letting people in truly,” Sprouse revealed to Glamour in 2018. “And she’s one of those people that consistently pushes me to be better at the arts that I’m pursuing, and that’s just the kind of person she is, she inspires excellence out of everybody she works with.” Reinhart also opened up about her first impression of the 26-year-old twin, saying she found his voice “annoying.” The CW stars eventually sparked romance rumors and by the 2018 Met Gala, which was their first red carpet appearance together as a couple, fans were sold. “It’s not something that we hide, or it’s not something that we show off,” Sprouse told GQ in March 2019. “It’s just something that exists.” Their love may (at the moment) be shut off and well, non-existent.. but only IRL.
