Here name is LAUREN WASSER ….her instagram is @theimpossiblemuse….and she’s fascinating… I saw her pictures a week ago because I follow Paris Hilton’s actual BFF, not that twat from her reality show FOTOFETISH …. I was obviously compelled by the fact she was misssing a leg, figuring that this was just another progressive move by the fashion industry to be different, or obscure, like what they are doing with all the plus sized models….or trans models…or really anyone who isn’t a conventional model…while still having the look of a conventional model, because when looking at her, you can tell she’s a legit model… I just assumed she had a motorcycle accident with some drunk billionaire she was dating…but it turns out the story is much more evil corporation than that…. She lost her leg because of Toxic Shock Syndrome…something you may remember learning about in Health Class, or from some hipplie chick in the late 90s showing off her “Keepa Menstrual Cup”….but that you probably haven’t heard of since, since you don’t get your period… The idea is that shoving a tampon in you, seeing as it is a foreign object, normally not sterile, and made with chemicals, fucks up your system, directly to your blood source, causing a bacterial infection that can lead to death or I guess amputation… The story of her realizing she was sick, to being hospitalized is terrifying, but she’s still here even after heart attack to tell the story and remind girls that this exists and is an issue, She’s also in the process of suing Kotex / Kimberly Clark and getting things more regulated in goverment…because this should not happen to anyone…. I am sure she will win, but hope it makes a lot of fucking noise, because clearly corporate negligence when you know they know better and have the resources to prevent this is a bigger issue than being able to breast feed in a park..when you already can… #freethetampon. because your period shouldn’t kill you, but rather be a celebration that I didn’t knock you up…. All this to say, I think it needs attention, it is a serious almost forgotten issue and I think Lauren Wasser needs attention…ideally while I watch…because I’m in love….I know I say that daily…but this time it’s real…She’s amazing… The post Lauren Wasser is the Inspiration of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepfather .
