In Case You Missed It: The Simpsons Made Fun of Fox News

‘Simpsons’ invents new Fox News motto: ‘#1 with racists’

In the world of The Simpsons, Fox News' well-known “fair and balanced” motto has been replaced. On Sunday's episode of the long-running cartoon series, a Fox News helicopter carrying a network executive reads, “Fox News: Not Racists, But #1 With Racists.” After the Fox News executive steps out of the helicopter into the head of the Statue of Liberty, the aircraft goes into a tailspin and crashes. The pilot can be heard saying, “It's not fair, we're unbalanced.” The executive conducts a secret meeting where his team plans a new health care scare that will send their ratings through the roof. Gawker calls The Simpsons episode one of the most anti-Republican ever. At one point in the episode, the likeness of former Vice President Dick Cheney laments the lack of terrorist attacks on America. The creators of the popular television show may cause for concern. Just last week, a Fox News anchor effectively said that all Hispanics were illegal aliens. The anchor, Trace Gallagher, claimed that a new study has shown 100,000 illegal aliens have left Arizona since the passage of a draconian new law, SB 1070, that allows police to check the immigration status of anyone they pull over. “The way they got the numbers is they crunched them using the current US population survey and then they had numbers from the Mexican government, is what they came up with, is that 100,000 illegals have left Arizona — there are 100,000 illegals fewer before SB 1070 was ever talked about,” Gallagher said. Only that's not what the study says. The study actually says that the immigration law in Arizona has likely provoked the voluntary departure of 100,000 Hispanics from the southern US state. Daniel Radcliffe Thinks ‘Twilight’ Spoof Won’t Bother Robert Pattinson

‘You cannot be in a film as big as either “Potter” or “Twilight” and not have a pretty good sense of humor about yourself,’ he tells MTV News of ‘Simpsons’ cameo. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News Daniel Radcliffe has found Robert Pattinson’s rise to fame instructive. “I have no concept of what “Potter” looks like to the rest of the world, because I’m so involved in it,” Radcliffe once told us . “So to watch “Twilight” kind of explode globally had been fascinating.” Radcliffe also finds RPattz — his onetime “Potter” co-star — an appropriate target for some good-natured mockery. Earlier this month, the 21-year-old actor voiced a vampire character on “The Simpsons,” a pasty-faced heartthrob named Edmund directly inspired by Pattinson’s Twi-hunk Edward. Radcliffe hasn’t yet heard from his pal about the episode, but he’s pretty sure Rob didn’t mind the parody. “You cannot be in a film as big as either “Potter” or “Twilight” and not have a pretty good sense of humor about yourself,” Radcliffe told us. In the Halloween-themed episode, young Lisa Simpson falls for Radcliffe’s character after he saves her from an out-of-control school bus, a direct reference to the way in which Edward and Bella connect in “Twilight.” “I love your pallor,” Lisa coos. Radcliffe himself has found himself a “Simpsons” target in the past, with references ranging from a Homer Simpson pet pig named Harry Plopper to a religious-minded character noting Potter and his wizard pals are going to hell. “South Park,” too, has zinged “Potter”: During a send-up of “The Lord of the Rings,” one character mocks a group of kids for dressing up like the Hogwarts crew. Radcliffe thinks it’s all hilarious, and he’s sure RPattz does too. “I find it all so cool and funny and flattering,” he said. “I’m sure Rob’s got a sense of humor about [it]. “I’m sure I’ll be getting a bouquet of flowers,” he added. Linkin Park’s Surprise VMA Location: Story Behind Griffith Park Observatory

Location has been featured in dozens of films, TV shows and music videos, including Adam Lambert’s ‘If I Had You.’ By Kara Warner Linkin Park performs at the 2010 VMAs Photo: MTV It’s fair to say that Linkin Park ‘s VMA performance of their hit “The Catalyst” at the Griffith Park Observatory was pretty epic. Naturally, the band’s killer rock stylings were a major part of the effect, but the historic scenery definitely enhanced the experience. For astute pop culture fanatics out there, if you feel like you’ve seen the picturesque setting before, you have — especially if you’ve seen “Transformers” or Adam Lambert’s music video for “If I Had You.” The Griffith Park Observatory is so named for Col. Griffith J. Griffith, an eccentric and generous early L.A. land baron, who bequeathed the land upon which the landmark now sits to the city of Los Angeles in 1896. The historic site is a popular tourist destination for its science- and space-related exhibits, but also because it has been featured in dozens of films, TV shows and music videos. Old-school classics filmed here include “Rebel Without a Cause,” “Back to the Future,” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” “The Rocketeer” and Paula Abdul’s video for “Rush Rush.” More recently, “Transformers,” “Yes Man,” “Funny People,” the TV series “24,” “Beverly Hills 90210,” “The Simpsons” and Lambert’s “If I Had You” have included footage from the historic site. Versions of the GP Observatory are also featured in the video games “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,” “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines” and “Future Cop: LAPD.” In addition to the landmark’s pop culture ties, the Griffith Park Observatory’s planetarium was used to train pilots in celestial navigation during World War II, and again in the ’60s to train Apollo program astronauts for the first lunar missions. The observatory underwent a major renovation from 2002 to 2006 and now features an expanded exhibit space, the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater and Wolfgang Puck’s Caf

Ke$ha Strips Down And Glitters Up In ‘Take It Off’ Video

Singer says getting naked in the new clip is all about being ‘raw and real.’ By James Montgomery Ke$ha in her “Take it Off” music video Photo: RCA Ke$ha recently told MTV News that during downtime on tour with Rihanna , the pop princesses “have slumber parties and pillow fights and … talk about boys, naked.” And it sounds like that stripped-down sensibility has carried over to her upcoming “Take It Off” video . “It’s my favorite video, I think, ever, that I’ve done because I get to get really dirty in glitter sand, and we all get naked because we’re just, like, taking it all off,” she said. But the “Take It Off” clip isn’t just about taking off your clothes and rolling in glitter. “It’s also about taking off your inhibitions and being raw and real,” Ke$ha said. “And then we start tearing each other apart into pieces, and we’re all made out of glittery magic dust … star dust.” OK, so maybe it is mostly about getting naked. Either way, Ke$ha says the video is still her favorite. Not even the recent clip of Israeli soldiers dancing to her hit “Tik Tok” or the May 2 episode of “The Simpsons” that used the song in its opening sequence could top it. And yet those were pretty cool. “It’s amazing … I love it,” she sad. “Having Israeli soldiers dancing to ‘Tik Tok’ and landing the opening of ‘The Simpsons’ … [they’re] dreams. It’s been a pretty good year.” Related Photos Ke$ha On The Set Of Her Video For ‘Take It Off’ Related Artists Ke$ha
