Billy Gilman became the second country singer today to come out as gay. A few hours after Ty Herndon made this admission to People Magazine, Gilman opened up in a movie video he posted online. But it’s pretty silly to know that I’m ashamed of doing this knowing that because I’m in an genre and industry that is ashamed of me for being me,” Gilman says in the above footage. In 2000, at the age of 11, Gilman became the youngest artist to land a Top 40 song on the country music charts with his first single, “One Voice.” His debut album of the same name was certified double platinum in the United States soon afterward. Think your family is effed up? On The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 8 , viewers were invited to Friendsgiving. But Caroline’s perfectly-organized dinner was quickly hijacked by a tale about Liv and Luke’s family… which also includes Jo and Kai. Get comfortable, THGers. This episode spewed forth a great deal of mythology and exposition… Jo vaguely recognized Liv as soon as she arrived for Friendsgiving and we later learned why via a series of flashbacks. Let’s hammer them out bullet-point style, shall we? Jo and Kai were twins. They were members of the Gemini Coven, which turned its leadership over to twins once those siblings reached the age of 22. But the family knew Kai was kind of insane, so the parents kept having babies until another set of twins came along: Liv and Luke. Kai finally snapped one day (May 10, 1994 to be exact), killing all his sibling and going after Liv and Luke. But Jo used her magic to make them vanish and then hid her magic in a knife that she buried near her house in Portland. Did we also mention that when the twins turn 22 they actually merge? The strongest twin absorbs the weaker one and THAT witch becomes coven leader. So Jo tricked Kai into thinking she was on board with this plan. The coven gathered around for the merging ceremony, only for them to curse Kai to be stuck inside May 10, 1994 forever. And that’s where we met him on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 earlier this year. Stefan, Alarc and Damon, meanwhile, were in Portland to check out this Gemini Coven. They came across Kai’s father, who overheard Damon saying he knew Kai and cast some sort of spell that made Damon invisible to his brother and best friend. After hearing all about Damon’s adventures in 1994, Papa Parker was afraid Kai would return, kill Jo, take her power and rule the world. So he cast another spell, this one meant to actually kill Jo and prevent Kai from usurping her power. Fortunately, Elena was able to save her mentor with some vampire blood, admitting to Liam that she’s a vampire and then compelling everything away. He’s pretty much gone now. But the family secrets are all about, with Tyler vowing to protect Liv if her coven comes looking for her, since she and Luke don’t exactly want to merge on their upcoming 22nd birthday. Damon, meanwhile, wants to bring Bonnie because he misses her and also because he thinks Bonnie will convince Elena to be with him. So he compelled Alaric to get the Ascendant from Jo (even though Kai being released will place her life in danger) at any cost. Finally, back in 1994, Kai took Bonnie to Portland and realized Jo his her magic in the aforementioned knife. He dug it out. He took its magic. He took some blood from Bonnie and now he thinks he can maybe return to present day. We ended the hour with Bonnie alone in Portland, very afraid. As we all should be. Talk about a busy hour, huh? On Monday, Williams set her sights on another celeb in the midst of a traumatic crisis, and she has yet to respond to the outrage that’s resulted from her latest comments: Wendy Williams on Bruce Jenner Sex Change As you’ve likely heard, reports that Bruce Jenner is undergoing a sex change seemed to be verified this week after Jenner was spotted wearing what appeared to be red nail polish. Williams addressed the Jenner rumors and the delicate issue of gender identity with her trademark tact and compassion: “Thank God he waited for his kids to grow up before making this transition or whatever it is he’s going through,” Williams said on her talk show today. “Can you imagine how awful it would be for those kids if he showed up with a blowout, a shaved Adam’s apple, pink nail polish, smoking a cigarette at a PTA meeting?” As you might have guessed, LGBT rights groups were less than thrilled with Wendy’s commentary: “To suggest that a person’s nail polish or hairstyle would inflict harm on their children is just ludicrous,” said a spokesperson for GLAAD. “What does inflict harm, however, is gross and invasive speculation about a person’s gender identity.” Yes, Williams exposed her ignorance in many ways through that comment. When does some simple corn maze fun turn into an all-out disaster? As evidenced by events on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 5 … when Ivy gets loose in Mystic Falls, partially eats some guy to death, that guy stumbles in front of Tyler’s truck, and Tyler subsequently plows through the Homecoming party. OUCH! Times, like 79. The corn massacre left many developments in its wake. To wit: The dude Tyler hit was pretty much a goner. That meant Tyler’s werewolf curse would be triggered . But Liv stepped in and actually suffocated the guy to death, meaning she technically ended his life, doing Tyler a serious solid. He thanked her profusely and said he’d live up to the favor. Liam showed off his skills, saving many lives due to some serious medical skills, turning Elena on in the process and acting like a “hero” on her eyes. She kissed him as a result. Jo and Alaric also saved some lives , prompting the former to pour out her feelings to the latter after all was said and done and no one died. But Alaric isn’t in a place where he can date, so he compelled her to forget all she felt… … except she kissed him anyway, seemingly oblivious to the compulsion. Ivy, meanwhile, ended up getting apprehended by Tripp , with Caroline looking on. Uh-oh! Finally, in 1994: Bonnie realized that Kai needed her alive because the spell that locked him on May 10 was a Bennett spell. So only a Bennett witch could do it. Bonnie killed Kai when she realized they didn’t need him… … except he came back to life because of the curse/spell. He’s destined to relive May 10,1994 over and over and over again. As he fought with Bonnie and Damon, Bonnie tossed Damon the Ascendent and said some magic words and sent him back to present day Mystic Falls. (Killing herself in the process?) We ended the hour with Stefan and Damon reuniting via a tear-filled hug that left our living room very, very, very dusty. What did everyone else think of the episode? The secrets came flooding out on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 3 . Let’s start with Bonnie and Damon : They are not alone in 1994. Some dude named Kai is there and he nearly killed Damon inside a liquor store, only for Bonnie to save the day by suddenly rediscovering her magic. After taking Kai hostage, he tells the trapped twosome that he wasn’t really kill Damon… he just needed to bring Bonnie to the brink so that she would be able to use magic again. Why? Because magic is the key to them getting the heck out of there. Outside Mystic Falls, meanwhile, a party was raging at the swimming hole. But after Caroline (who decided to move back to college in the end) compelled an attendee to get ice, and then that attendee told Jeremy she lost the desire to get said ice once she hit Mystic Falls, Jeremy came to a realization: Sarah knows! She didn’t actually forget Elena taking a bite out of her neck on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 1 because all compulsion ends in Mystic Falls and she’s been getting it on with Jeremy there ever since. So she apparently knows exactly who Elena is and exactly what Elena did and now we’re left to wonder: Who is she? What does she want? Stefan , meanwhile, returned to town in order to get revenge against Enzo. But just as he was about to kill his enemy, one of the guys in Matt’s weird group came upon them with a crossbow. Enzo killed him first, but not before Matt learned that he’s been training with a group of vampire hunters. Oops! His bad! Tyler called Liv in to help with the body and the kegs and she admitted she has feelings for him. We’re totally down with Lyler , aren’t you? (Or should we refer to them as Tiv ?) Finally, Enzo went for a piece of pie at the diner and ended up sitting next to Tripp . He knew Enzo was a vampire because Enzo has been killing waitresses left and right. Tripp injected Enzo with vervain, but Enzo was able to fight it off and was about to kill Tripp… when Stefan walked in and shot him twice with that crossbow. He introduced himself to Tripp as another Founding Family member and was about to put another stake through Enzo when Tripp said he likes to kill vampires in his own way. So Stefan told him to go ahead and do so. As long as he makes it painful. Lots of forward momentum this week, lots of revelations and a few major questions regarding the idenities of Sarah and Kai. Many questions were just begging to be answered on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 1 : Where are Bonnie and Damon? How are Elena, Stefan, Caroline and company coping with their presumed deaths? What is Alaric up to now that he’s back in the land of the living? Will Matt Donovan actually be giving anything interesting to do this fall? And what division of football is Whitmore College in? Okay, the final one may not have been a pressing issue for most viewers, but we couldn’t help but wonder considering the high school-like atmosphere of that tailgate. Chaperones? Really?!? We got a very, very quick glimpse at the pair to close the premiere and they seem to be living a normal life somewhere. They were reading the newspaper. They were acting almost like a couple. They came across as anything but two people who were sucked away when The Other Side evaporated to close The Vampire Diaries Season 5. Intriguing. CAROLINE is reacting to their presumed death by maintaining hope. She’s reading every book she can get her hands on to figure out a way to bring her friends back. JEREMY is drinking a lot, playing video games and hooking up with random girls. What a life! Umm… we mean, he’s clearly having some issues. MATT has joined some kind of Mystic Falls protection group that is led by someone named Tripp. He seems VERY interested in the supernatural. STEFAN has gone off to Savannah and is barely speaking to anyone anymore. He’s hooking up with some girl named Ivy, but appears to be using her as a means to an important end: determining a way to get Damon back. He tells Elena on the phone at one point that he’s given up hope and has said goodbye and she should do the same. But we don’t buy it. TYLER is dealing with major rage issues, barely able to contain his temper now that he’s human again, with the werewolf curse still inside of him. ALARIC “hates everything” about being a vampire. He’s having trouble dealing with the blood lust. And he’s lost his “game.” Elena’s new medical professor person tried hitting on him and Alaric totally stumbled. Ah, yes, ELENA. She’s been taking some witchy drug cooked up for her by Luke all summer because it makes her hallucinate Damon. But it also makes her really thirsty and it’s led to her attacking some humans. She realizes she has to let go. But she can’t. So she asks Alaric to compel her to forget Damon forever toward the end of the premiere. Think she’ll go through wit it? Overall, a very solid opening to The Vampire Diaries Season 6 . We caught up with every single character and we saw the effect the loss of their friends has had on them. Opening up about the challenges of nursing, and parenting overall, the reality star has shared her thoughts, pictures, and opinions. It’s been great stuff, mostly. At least until we learned that Jenelle Evans is still smoking cigarettes … Last week, this became public knowledge after shared a seemingly innocent picture of baby daddy Nathan Griffith passed out with a headset on. A sweet and funny moment, until we looked at the bottom of the chair. Evans’ Twitter followers, eagle-eyed and forever detail-oriented, called her out, which prompted Jenelle to address the criticism she obviously incurred: “Nobody smokes in my house. We step out on the front or back porch.” Yes, as in herself and/or Nathan Griffith, the mom of two confirmed. “I’m outside right now smoking a cig lol,” she Tweeted at a follower.
