Jay-Z Calls Watch The Throne Tour The ‘Best Party’

‘The most important thing is that the people that are coming to the concert are leaving there thrilled,’ Hov tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images The fans aren’t the only ones having a ball during Jay-Z and Kanye West ‘s Watch the Throne Tour. A hoarse Jay walked the red carpet of the GQ Men of the Year party in Hollywood on Thursday, and he could hardly contain his excitement. “We’re having a great time,” Hov told MTV News’ Jim Cantiello. “The most important thing is that the people that are coming to the concert are leaving there thrilled and we’re having an amazing time. As you see, I don’t have a voice,” he laughed. The tour, which kicked off last month in Atlanta , has been running for less than a month but has been met with rave reviews on each outing. Noted for its dual elevated stages and artsy video montages, Hov and ‘Ye’s grandiose WTT run has been one worthy of the royal rap duo. Aside from their Throne cuts, Jay and Kanye have pulled from their respective solo catalogs, performing early hits like “Where I’m From” and “Through the Wire,” as well as new favorites like “Empire State of Mind” and “Runaway.” The highlight, however, is the duo’s current single “N—as in Paris.” Toward the end of the opening show in Atlanta, the two MCs performed the song twice, the next night, three times. At recent New York and Miami concerts, the track has been performed as many as four times in a single night. The Throne are slated to hit Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun on Friday night (November 18) and Atlantic City on Saturday. “It’s like the best party you’ve ever been to every night,” Jay said. “It’s star-studded and it’s music and it’s just unbelievable.” Related Artists Jay-Z Kanye West

Kate Middleton Pregnant, Tabloid Swears!

Kate Middleton is around six weeks pregnant with their first child, according to celebrity gossip magazine In Touch , citing a royal source that’s allegedly well connected. Is it true? We’ve heard it all before – quite recently in fact – so we say no. Especially since the palace specifically promised to break any such news first, with no leaks . But hey, she sure is glowing and holding her belly a lot , so there’s that: According to the insider (who has correctly revealed other “secrets,” including their honeymoon location and the queen’s wedding gift), she is “definitely” pregnant. That settles it then. “Since before they even got married, it’s been made clear to William and Kate that having children should be their number-one priority,” the royal source reveals . Queen Elizabeth II, in particular, has supposedly been dropping hints about wanting a great-grandchild – and an heir to the throne. Now she’s supposedly “elated.” Even with Kate early in the first trimester, they’re said to have already started planning with nurseries in each of their three residences, and by picking names. Now that their first born child will inherit the throne regardless of gender, Prince William, who was famously close to his mother, is said to be hoping for a girl. Don’t expect a baby at all in nine months, but that’s a cute made-up anecdote. Nice to see fabricated Kate Middleton pregnancy stories are getting sappier.

Erick Sermon Recalls ‘Pains’ Before Heart Attack

‘Go out there and check yourself, it don’t matter which age you are,’ 42-year-old EPMD rap vet tells ‘Sway in the Morning.’ By Rob Markman Erick Sermon Photo: FilmMagic Rap veteran Erick Sermon is on the road to recovery after suffering a mild heart attack last week, he tells MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway. The EPMD rapper/producer called into Shade 45’s “Sway in the Morning” radio show on Tuesday (November 15) and described to listeners how things unfolded. After recording a track last Wednesday, the Green-Eyed Bandit was relaxing when he started to feel discomfort. “I sat on the sofa and I got two sharp pains on my left-hand side,” Sermon, 42, told Sway from the hospital where he has been recovering for the past five days. The platinum producer didn’t think much of the pain, though, and instead of seeking help, just shifted to a better position on the couch and kept watching TV. The next afternoon, Sermon began experiencing the pains in his side again and decided to head to the hospital. “When I got there, as soon as I hit the door, my whole left side cramped up on me and the heart palpitations started going really fast again and I started to get the pains again,” he recalled. The Long Island, New York, rap star seemed to have taken action just in the nick of time. According to Sermon, his blood pressure was “200 over 190,” and if he would’ve waited much longer, things could have gotten far more serious. “If I didn’t get there in time, I would’ve suffered a stroke first, then I really would’ve been in trouble,” he said.”So when I got to the emergency room, they did all these tests and said that the heart attack was a mild one.” Sermon’s health scare came just days after another hip-hop icon, Heavy D, died suddenly . Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the 44-year-old rapper/actor’s death. And in October, Rick Ross had his own health issues , suffering two seizures in one day; the Miami rapper has slowly been getting back into the swing of things. Sermon, who is still in the hospital after undergoing a procedure to unclog his arteries, warned listeners to take their health seriously. “Go out there and check yourself, it don’t matter which age you are,” he urged. With health in hip-hop becoming such an important topic of late, rapper N.O.R.E. will stop by “RapFix Live” on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET to discuss the steps he’s taken to shed pounds and live healthy. Ross and Meek Mill will also check in on this week’s live stream. Tune in to “Sway in the Morning,” on SiriusXM Radio’s Shade 45 , Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon ET. Catch up with Rick Ross, Meek Mill and N.O.R.E. on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live” at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com! Related Artists Erick Sermon

Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music Album Will Be ‘Great Music’

‘I just sent ‘Ye like 12 beats the other day,’ producer Hit-Boy tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Matt Elias Kanye West Photo: Getty Images As soloists, Kanye West ‘s G.O.O.D. Music roster has proven to be formidable hip-hop hitmakers. Now put Big Sean , Kid Cudi , Pusha T and Kanye West together on one album and expectations will no doubt run high. In October, West set things up when he tweeted, “GOODMUSIC.THE ALBUM.SPRING2012,” and the date couldn’t come soon enough. While label producer Hit-Boy couldn’t confirm the sonic direction of the compilation, he assured MTV News that it’ll be quality. “It’s going to be G.O.O.D. Music-esque, which is great music,” the “N—as in Paris” producer said when he sat with MTV News last week. It’s a safe bet that ‘Ye will remain chief producer, but that doesn’t mean he won’t enlist others as he did on his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and his tag-team album with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne . “We actually already started a couple of ideas for that, just bouncing around stuff,” Hit-Boy confirmed. “I just sent ‘Ye like 12 beats the other day. He hit me like, ‘I need joints.’ So we’re just going in.” The California producer scored the most exciting track on WTT with “N—as in Paris,” but he revealed to MTV News that he made a few more records for the high-profile album that just didn’t make the final cut. “The crazy thing about the ‘Paris’ record is that record just came out of nowhere, pretty much,” Hit-Boy said. “I did other records that were talked about being singles and all types of stuff, so I was hyped over those records.” It seems that those records won’t go to waste either as a few, if not all, will end up on the G.O.O.D. Music album. “We made a lot of music around the time we were working on Watch the Throne so joints will end up where they’re supposed to,” he said. Jay-Z And Kanye West’s ‘Paris’ Came ‘Out Of Nowhere’

Producer Hit-Boy is especially excited about the Throne performing the single multiple times during shows. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Matt Elias Jay-Z and Kanye West Photo: Getty Images Jay-Z and Kanye West might give it up for Paris on their Watch the Throne single, but the international party anthem is now #1 in the U.S. Last week, “N—as in Paris” snagged the top spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Producer Hit-Boy couldn’t be more ecstatic, especially considering that he initially submitted Jay and ‘Ye other records that at the time seemed to be bigger than “Paris.” “The crazy thing about the ‘Paris’ record is that record just came out of nowhere, pretty much,” Hit-Boy told MTV News last week. “I did other records that were talked about being singles and all types of stuff, so I was hyped over those records.” Instead, the superstar duo chose to run with “N—as in Paris,” a brash celebration of success over a bouncy beat, mashed up with Will Ferrell sound bites . Though it was Hit-Boy who came up with the initial version of the track, he credits ‘Ye with the addition of the former “SNL” funnyman. “Genius. That’s just the genius that ‘Ye is. He always comes up with these ideas that just takes music to a whole ‘nother level,” Hit-Boy gushed. “Just something that’s never been done before.” Ferrell was also pretty excited about being included on the song. “I was completely flattered when they asked if they could sample me into the song,” Ferrell told MTV News about the track’s “Blades of Glory” quotes. “And when I heard it for the first time, I just started to laugh because it felt so surreal. But I really did like the song.” Not only is “Paris” killing the radio, but while on tour, Hov and Yeezy perform the fan favorite multiple times in a single night. During the tour’s opening night on October 28 in Atlanta, the duo rocked the single twice; the next night they performed it three times. When Hit-Boy caught one of the two Madison Square Garden shows in New York at the beginning of November, he was blown away hearing his track repeatedly.”It was amazing,” he said. “I’ve never heard of that being done before, like a song being performed multiple times. That made me feel super special.” What do you think of “Paris”? Let us know in the comments! Kanye West Is ‘A Good Friend,’ Theophilus London Says

Brooklyn MC hints at possible involvement in West’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation album. By Jocelyn Vena Theophilus London Photo: Getty Images Given their similar aesthetics and emotional rhymes, it’s no surprise that Theophilus London and Kanye West have plans to team up — on something. When MTV News caught up with London this week, he teased that he and Yeezy have some sort of collaboration on the horizon. “He’s working on his G.O.O.D. Music record soon,” London said, not mentioning whether he’s involved in that project. “I’m just happy to be affiliated with him. We email each other back and forth and tip each other off on different fashion things. He’s just a good friend. Right now, I can’t say anything else about that, but he’s just a good friend.” West announced last month that he was working on a G.O.O.D. compilation album , even citing a time frame for when he wanted to drop it. “Goodmusic. The album. Spring 2012,” he tweeted , providing just enough information to get fans excited for what’s to come. These days, Yeezy is on the road with longtime pal Jay-Z on the Watch the Throne Tour . London already caught the show and has only the kindest words to say about it. “I went to check out the Watch the Throne Tour; it’s amazing,” he said of one of two Madison Square Garden shows. “I recommend it.” While Kanye tours with Jay-Z and decides what his next move with London is, the Brooklyn MC is riding the wave of being included on the “Breaking Dawn- Part 1” soundtrack with his song “Neighbors.” “When they asked me do it, I was very privileged and pleased. I wanted to do a super emo song about neighbors and how neighbors are very important,” he said. “A lot of people are freaking out, but it’s a whole new fanbase for me. I’m just so stoked that all these cute girls that like vampires hear my song.” What kind of collabo do you want to see between ‘Ye and Theophilus? Share your ideas in the comments! Nicki Minaj , Kanye West and Maroon 5 were scheduled to perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night, but Jay-Z made an unexpected appearance. He hit the stage and performed with Yeezy, and the crowd loved it. Kanye was supposed to perform at the annual event a few years ago, but cancelled after his mother Donda West died. “Stronger” was one of the songs he performed, and he dedicated it to his mother. “I lost my super hero,” Kanye told the audience, “and now she’s my super angel.” Jay-Z joined Yay for “N—-s In Paris,” but altered the lyrics to “Homies In Paris.” Nicki Minaj rocked out to ”Super Bass” in characteristically colorful attire. Jay-Z, Kanye West Throne Show At MSG ‘Unreal’

‘There’s no other experience,’ one fan tells MTV News of the Throne’s first stop in Jay’s hometown New York City. By Nadeska Alexis, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Kanye West and Jay-Z in “Watch The Throne” tour (file) Photo: The Washington Post/Getty Images Jay-Z and Kanye West brought their much-heralded Watch the Throne Tour to New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Monday night after two shows at New Jersey’s IZOD Center over the weekend. After kicking off the eagerly anticipated jaunt last week in Atlanta, the Throne began their trek north, stopping in North Carolina, and now they’ll stay put for one additional show at the Garden on Tuesday night (November 8). MTV News headed to the show on Monday, where the allure of seeing Jay and Kanye run through their catalog of hits at the World’s Most Famous Arena wasn’t lost on fans who filed into the newly renovated stadium for a 9:30 p.m. start time. Sticking to the script of their previous shows, the duo opened up with the WTT bonus track “H.A.M,” but “Welcome to the Jungle” hit a soft spot when Jay-Z spit his line, “Rest in peace to the leader of the Jackson 5.” The reference was especially touching just hours after the guilty verdict in the Michael Jackson manslaughter case was finally passed down. As expected, Jay and ‘Ye performed their #1 single “Ni–as in Paris” multiple times during the show’s final minutes, adding in a mix of Jay-Z’s early hits like “Lucifer” and “Money Ain’t a Thing,” along with Kanye’s “Get Em High” and “All Falls Down.” And post-show, fans who spoke to MTV News were still brimming with excitement. “This is where it all started,” said one excited fan, referring to Jay-Z’s first hometown stop on the tour. “This is where he’s gonna start, this is where he’s gonna finish, so this is the best feeling ever. If you’re a Jay-Z fan — or anybody’s fan for that matter — you’ve gotta see them in the Garden. There’s no other experience.” “It was unreal to watch them together, feeding off each other’s chemistry,” another fan added, after watching Jay and ‘Ye throw it down. “Watching them own the stage like they did — it was ridiculous.” The Throne will perform one additional show at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night before they head to Florida.
