Watch The Throne Concert Review [EXCLUSIVE]

See the article here:

From the moment that Jay-Z and Kanye West took the stage at Philips Arena — on identical cubes with images of vicious Rottweilers rising from both ends of the venue — there was an inescapable feeling that there was going to be something regal about this show. After all, it’s the Watch the Throne tour, and Kanye and Jay did not disappoint. They dynamic duo kicked things off with “H.A.M.,” the first unofficial single from their joint “Watch the Throne” album. From there it was a dizzying, highly-entertaining, at times emotional 2 1/2 plus hour thrill ride of hit after hit. No special guests showed up at the concert, but Jay and Yay have so many hits between them that was a minor factor. The spectacular light and laser show and fiery pyrotechnics certainly helped, even if people were expecting T.I. to come out for his verse on the “N*ggas in Paris” remix. There was also no way the two could perform all of their hits, and it was noticeable that Jay didn’t perform any songs from his classic debut “Reasonable Doubt” or his “American Gangster” album. After warming up the receptive crowd a huge American flag was unfurled on the main stage as Jay-Z and Kanye appeared together to perform their smash hit “Otis.” For the rest of the night the two superstars alternated between their respective hits and songs from Watch the Throne. At one point Kanye even shed a tear while performing overly-Auto Tuned versions of “Heartless” and “Runaway.” Raised in Chicago, a lot of fans might not realize that Kanye was actually born in Atlanta and his father still lives here. Jay made a point to announce to the crowd early in the show, referencing Yay, “He was born in ATL!” Jay also proclaimed proudly later on in the evening: “ATL, you are now looking at the best of black excellence!” One of the most poignant moments of the show was when the arena played Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World” and everyone sang along right before Jay and Yay went into “No Church in the Wild.” The only other moment that came close to that was when the two stars had everyone hold up a cell phone or lighter during “Made in America,” illuminating the entire arena. In the end Watch the Throne was an amazing show that lived up to all its hype. But should we expect anything less from two of hip hop’s greatest talents? Demi Lovato is Careful with Her Trust, Can Touch Tongue to Her Nose

Demi Lovato is all about taking fans behind the scenes of her life these days. First, there was this video . Now, the singer has opened up about a number of topics in a new interview with Parade . For starters, Lovato shares the life lessons she’s learned as a result of the past year, which featured a trip to rehab and an admission that she is Bipolar . “Be careful who you trust,” she tells the magazine , adding that the best way to deal with the negative side to fame is “to keep your chin up and stay strong and turn the other cheek. Kill ’em with kindness.” Not every question was so serious, however. For example, what surprising fact about Demi might fans not know? “I can touch my nose with my tongue,” she says. “And I used to have a gab in between my two front teeth.” And her plans for the near future? “Over the next year, I just want to continue to tour and have fun with music. Acting will come second. Music is my number one passion and I want to stick to music for a while.”

First Child of Kate Middleton and Prince William to Inherit Throne Under New Ascension Rules

If Kate Middleton and Prince William have a daughter as their first child, she will be next in line for the throne even if a boy follows, according to new rules. That would not be the case as of this moment. With The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the loop, plans are afoot by Prime Minister David Cameron’s government to change existing ascension policy. As current English royal law stands, if William and Kate’s first child is a daughter but their second is a son, the boy would henceforth inherit the throne. Cameron and other UK leaders are hoping to change this and several other ancient rules in order to bring the monarchy up to date with modern times. He has already written the governments in the Commonwealth of countries ruled by the monarchy. The rule change will have to be ratified by all 16. “We espouse gender equality, so it is an anomaly that in rules relating to the highest public office, we continue to enshrine male superiority,” Cameron said. The current Queen, Elizabeth II, is an anomaly herself, as only the second woman to hold the throne in the last 400 years. That’s right, 400. Her father, George VI, took over when Edward VIII abdicated to marry a divorcee, and had only two daughters, Elizabeth and younger sister Margaret. If William were to similarly give up his status or die (heaven forbid) without having any children, Prince Harry would be next in line, not Kate Middleton . [Photo: Fame Pictures]

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Calls Lack Of ’50/50′ Kiss ‘Horrible’

“It’s a travesty,” actor jokes to MTV News about not locking lips with Anna Kendrick in the film. By Amy Wilkinson Anna Kendrick and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in “50/50” Photo: Summit Entertainment Over the weekend, audiences laughed (and cried) along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen in the heartfelt comedy “50/50,” loosely based on writer Will Reiser’s real-life battle with cancer. ( Spoilers ahead! ) Gordon-Levitt’s thoughtful portrayal of 27-year-old cancer patient Adam takes him on a journey from diagnosis to recovery, breaking up with girlfriend Rachael (Bryce Dallas Howard) and sparking a new relationship with therapist-in-training Katherine (Anna Kendrick) along the way. The budding romance is only teased, however, as the two never seal the deal with a kiss. It was a purposeful omission, the film’s writer and stars said at the “50/50” premiere last week in New York. “We very much resisted them kissing,” Reiser told MTV News. “The movie is not a love story. It’s about a guy’s battle with cancer. If it turned into a love story at the end, we would be betraying what the movie is about. That kiss is the start of another movie.” Kendrick, in fact, was relieved she didn’t have to smooch Gordon-Levitt, as they’d become good friends after weeks of filming together. “The studio wanted to see us kiss at the end, actually. We were thinking about just trying it as an option,” she explained. “Joe very wisely stood up and said, ‘If we give it to them as an option, they will use it.’ So we just decided not to do it, because it really just didn’t feel right. And I was relieved, because I had known Joe for too long at that point. It’s too weird once you think of someone as a friend to be like, ‘OK, I guess we make out now?’ ” But Kendrick probably shouldn’t share that sentiment with Gordon-Levitt, because as he told it, he was pretty bummed he didn’t get to kiss his leading lady. “It’s a travesty,” he said with a big grin. “It’s a horrible injustice, and I’m writing a letter.” Check out everything we’ve got on “50/50.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

In 2004, when Mystikal was locked up on sexual battery and extortion charges, Jay-Z was fresh off his “retirement,” Kanye West was just beginning his rookie year in rap and Lil Wayne was getting set to drop the first album in his now-famed Tha Carter series. Now, Kanye and Jay are the Throne and both enjoy veteran rap status, and Lil Wayne is sitting on top of the world. Mystikal recalls his fellow New Orleans rapper’s come-up and can’t help but feel a bit responsible for the growth. “Wayne was a student in my dojo before. I was a sensei before. I had big inspiration on him,” Mystikal said of the younger Weezy. “It’s gratifying to see him reach the heights that he reached with his hustle. So I’m proud of him.” Mystikal, who turned 41 last week, has a catalog of rap classics. Songs like “Shake Ya Ass” and “Danger” helped shine hip-hop’s light on his native New Orleans and the artists who hail from the Louisiana city. Still, the Tarantula isn’t content with his past hits. He has recently been in the studio with producer Mannie Fresh, cooking up a new batch of material. So how will this new Mystikal fit into hip-hop’s current landscape? “Just another option, just give them another option,” Mystikal told Mixtape Daily of what he hopes to offer to rap fans. “All the marquee artists are who they are; I don’t have to say no names.
