2012 will likely be another big year for Frank Ocean . In 2011 the smooth R&B singer emerged as a highly sought after crooner by releasing his critically acclaimed mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra. The striking, if not bizarre effort led to him being feature on Beyoncé’s 4 album as a writer on “I Miss You” and as a singer on two of her husband Jay-Z’s collaborative effort with Kanye West, Watch the Throne (“No Church in the Wild” and “Made it in America”). Now Ocean’s about set to release his debut album. In an interview with BBC News , Ocean gushes that he’s “super proud of” the as-yet-untitled spring release. “It succinctly defines me as an artist for where I am right now and that was the aim, just to make something that represents where you are at that space and time,” he adds. “It’s about the stories. If I write 14 stories that I love, then the next step is to get the environment of music around it to best envelop the story and all kinds of sonic goodness—sonic goodies.”

Every year since 2009, the Brooklyn MC has released a predictions-themed song. On his “2011 Predictions” Main successfully guessed that Lindsay Lohan would have relapsing bouts with alcohol and that the Throne would sell over a million records. On Wednesday’s “RapFix Live,” Maino dropped some major 2012 predictions. “I got a couple,” the rapper admitted when Sway asked him what reveals he had for the next 12 months. “Forget what you heard, Obama’s gonna win.” That wasn’t all, however. “This is the year you gonna see a transformation for me. I’m gonna be like a different person. I’m gonna get caught up in a love triangle,” Maino said, pausing before adding, “with Rihanna and Katy Perry.” Maino’s playful prediction may seem far-fetched, but with the news that Perry’s hubby Russell Brand has filed for divorce , the pop star is back on the market. As far as Rihanna, the Bajan beauty revealed to Ellen DeGeneres in a November 2011 interview that she is very single . So from a logistical standpoint anything is possible — we guess. That wasn’t all. Maino, who has stood as one of rap’s top street artists, says he is about to undergo an artistic change as well. “I’m leaving rap. I’m leaving hip-hop. I’m gonna become an R&B artist. It’s been little over a month since Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries and it looks like the reality is having no problem moving on. Kanye West and Kim K were spotted exchanging lustful looks at billionaire Ron Burkle’s after-party for Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Watch the Throne” concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. A source told the NY Daily News; ‘Kanye was eating Kim up like she was a piece of cake,’ a source from the party told the newspaper. ‘He was all over her – caressing her head, touching her waist. ‘I think he was dying to kiss her, but there were too many people in the room,’ the insider added. The pair, who are long time friends, were attending billionaire Ron Burkle’s party for Kanye and rapper Jay-Z, who performed at L.A.’s Staples Center for their Watch the Throne tour. And Kim K certainly seemed to enjoy herself, tweeting: ‘Last night was KRAY,’ Kanye made an appearance alongside a flirty Kim on the first season of “Kourtney & Kim Take New York.” Do you think Kanye and Kim make a good couple? ‘Goofy acts are not going through,’ Stern promised. By Gil Kaufman Howard Stern Photo: MTV News After months of speculation, Sirius satellite radio host Howard Stern confirmed on Thursday (December 15) that he will join the judging panel of one of his favorite reality TV shows, NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” “I’m going to be Piers [Morgan] on steroids,” Stern promised, in reference to former lead judge Piers Morgan. “It’s going to be a no-nonsense judge … I’m going to go there as a serious judge … It’s gonna be something else … I am very excited.” On his satellite show on Thursday, Stern was joined by his long-time agent, Don Buchwald, who made a rare on-air appearance to present the show’s host with the official contracts for his new gig. Stern took great pleasure in joking about how he was going to be back with NBC, the company that famously fired him in 1985 for his lewd on-air behavior on his WNBC radio show. “I am very happy for you because I know how much you love this show,” said longtime sidekick Robin Quivers. “I will find the next superstar,” Stern promised. Stern said Buchwald got a call several months ago from the producers of the show asking if the radio icon would be interested in joining the program’s judging panel, which also includes his good pals Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel. “I get a lot of offers, so when Don called me he said, ‘I don’t know why I’m even telling you this … I know you watch the show.'” But to Buchwald’s surprise, Stern said he was very interested in joining the cast of the show that he has obsessed over and dissected many a morning on his satellite broadcast, often bragging that he would be a superior judge on the series. “This nonsense of Howie and Sharon putting through less than talented people has got to stop,” Stern thundered. “Under my administration there will be no Frank Sinatra impersonators winning for the year. If people think I’m the crazy man, I am not. I am the voice of reason,” he said, railing against some of the acts that have gotten through in the past that he would not abide by. “Goofy acts are not going through.” One of the biggest questions was how Stern — who famously does not like to travel or fly — would handle taping the Los Angeles-based show and still host his New York based radio program. “I think the show’s going to be even more exciting from New York,” said Stern, confirming that the production would move across the country to accommodate his desire to stay on the East Coast. “It will not interfere with here,” he promised, saying that he would fly around the country for auditions, but would not be interrupting his morning routine on Sirius/XM on a regular basis. He said he will start taping the first audition episodes in February. A spokesperson for NBCU could not be reached for comment at press time.
