Justin Timberlake’s Next Project: Remaking MySpace

‘I don’t have anything on my plate other than think-tanking a lot of different ideas for MySpace,’ he tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Justin Timberlake Photo: Getty Images Justin Timberlake has become such a hardworking, multifaceted entertainment personality that it’s become difficult to keep track of all his projects. There’s the music career, which has seemingly been put on hold for the time being; the burgeoning film career, which has taken up most of JT’s time of late; then there are his entrepreneurial efforts, particularly his newly acquired stake in MySpace . When MTV News recently caught up with the very busy jack-of-all-trades as he promoted his new film, “In Time,” we asked him to do a bit of career forecasting for us and reveal what he’s working on next. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that first, he’s going to be hard at work on revamping MySpace and second, he might be planning an actual vacation. “I don’t have anything on my plate other than think-tanking a lot of different ideas for MySpace, which doesn’t require a lot of my literally being present,” Timberlake said. “I can come up with ideas on the golf course. I can come up with ideas on a mountain while I’m snowboarding. Seriously, I don’t have anything on my plate for the rest of the year. I am going to take a vacation. I’m going to find out what a vacation really is.” And in addition to all the exotic-locale-based think-tanking and vacationing, might Timberlake have any free time to pay a visit to his favorite NYC-based variety show, “Saturday Night Live”? “I don’t know,” he said. “Those things are spur-of-the-moment. I don’t have plans to host, but those things are spur-of-the-moment for sure. Even if I had plans, I wouldn’t tell you,” he added with a smile. What do you hope Justin does with MySpace? Justin Timberlake Cast In Casablanca Records Biopic

‘Spinning Gold’ follows life of label co-founder Neil Bogart. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Timberlake He once played Napster co-founder Sean Parker in “The Social Network,” and now he’s getting ready to play another real-life entrepreneur. Deadline Hollywood reports that Justin Timberlake will play ’70s record producer and Casablanca Records co-founder Neil Bogart in a new biopic. “Spinning Gold” will take a close look at Bogart’s career as a record executive who launched the careers of acts like KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer and the Village People. “This is saga about a young dreamer who started with nothing and came of age in the ’60s and ’70s, believing anything was possible and every risk was worth taking,” said Tim Bogart, Neil’s son and the film’s writer. He said the film is “literally three decades in the making.” Bogart died of cancer in 1982, at the age of 39. Bogart added, “We needed a young actor who can carry this picture. … When Justin walked into the room, that was the moment I had been waiting for 29 years. He has the exact same energy as my father, the same glimmer in his eye.” A director has yet to be attached to the project, which is set to shoot in 2012. Album plans are also under way. Fans hoping Timberlake will head back to the studio to record new music will be sad to see his film roster keeps getting filled with new projects. In November, his sci-fi flick, “In Time,” hits theaters. “To be honest, my plan would have probably been to do another record, probably right about now. I never stop considering myself a musician. To me, it’s my bread and butter,” Timberlake said in a recent interview with Short List. “And I mean that in a personal way. I don’t mean that it finances my ‘acting hobbies.’ I joke with my friends that I should have a business card saying, ‘David Fincher put me in a movie,’ because ‘Bad Teacher’ got a blessing due to ‘The Social Network,’ and then ‘Friends With Benefits’ came out of that. “All the movies I’ve done were just opportunities that came up, but now that they’re all coming out back-to-back, people think, ‘Oh, he’s trying to make a statement by having an acting career,’ ” he continued. “But it’s not like that for me. I don’t ever want to stop doing music.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake Sexting Claims ‘Entirely False’

JT ‘might write songs about putting things in boxes,’ but ‘he … definitely doesn’t make a habit of taking any photos of them,’ co-stars’ statement reads. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis in “Friends With Benefits” Photo: Glen Wilson/ Sony Pictures Last week, the Internet was buzzing with news that nude photos of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis had leaked. Although the reportedly scandalous four photos never actually hit the Net, one was said to feature Kunis in a bathtub, while Timberlake appeared in another two. The “Friends With Benefits” co-stars, however, are laughing it all off. “At no time did Mr. Timberlake and Ms. Kunis exchange inappropriate texts or emails. … The insistence that there is any inappropriate correspondence between the two parties is entirely false, ” a lengthy statement to People reads. The co-stars go on to add, “We would like to confirm that the photo addressed in the media of Ms. Kunis was in fact not from any phone but from an inactive email account that has not existed in three years. In regards to the other photos in question, they were never exchanged between the two parties.” Like Scarlett Johansson, whose private nude pics recently hit the Net, the actors are working with authorities to nail down the hackers who gained possession of their personal photos. But Kunis and Timberlake also showed they have a sense of humor, writing, “In closing, Mr. Timberlake would like us to make it clear that while he might write songs about putting things in boxes, he never has and definitely doesn’t make a habit of taking any photos of them and sending them,” referring to Timberlake ‘s hit “Saturday Night Live” sketch “D— in a Box.” Ms. Kunis would like us to add that while she is a fan of the song, she does not have nor has ever had photos of any male parts in her possession.” In the 2006 “SNL” sketch, Justin joins castmember Andy Samberg and his Lonely Island crew for a song about giving their loved ones the gift of “themselves” for the holidays. Justin Timberlake Throws Free, Impromptu, Star-Studded Concert in NYC

Justin Timberlake was a friend with major benefits to New York City residents last night, as the singer took to the stage for an impromptu concert. After Tweeting that he’d be performing at the barbecue restaurant Southern Hospitality in Hell’s Kitchen at 11 p.m., JT grabbed his guitar and joined the band FreeSol on a 45-minute set that was witnessed by a packed house, one that included Kim Kardashian and Amanda Seyfried. Timberlake treated attendees to a rap ballad titled “Don’t Give It Away,” along with an a capella performance of “What Goes Around… Comes Around.” He also hyped another performance tonight at New York’s Irving Plaza. It will, once again, include himself and FreeSol, whose album is out on JT’s Tennman Records label. We just lost our entire Big Apple reader base for the day, didn’t we? Enjoy the show, folks!
