Of course you do, but depending on your age, maybe you didn’t know Kanye West wasn’t the first Black man to catch the spirit, run up on stage, and suddenly  speak his mind at an award show. Back in 1998, Wu-Tang Clan were nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammys, but lost to Puff Daddy . Much like ‘Ye did in 2009, Ol’ Dirty Bastard intervened and gave everyone a piece of his mind—just as Shawn Colvin was about to accept her award for Song of the Year. Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty MTV reported at the time: “After sneaking to the microphone and kissing presenter Erykah Badu in mid-bumrush, O.D.B. urged the crowd to ‘Please calm down,’ and launched into a confusing speech thusly: ‘I went and bought me an outfit today that cost me a lot of money, because I figured that Wu-Tang was gonna win,’ O.D.B. said, referring to the Best Rap Album that Wu-Tang was nominated for, but did not win earlier in the evening as the honor went to Puff Daddy. “‘I don’t know how you all see it, but when it comes to the children, Wu-Tang is for the children,’ O.D.B. continued. ‘We teach the children. Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is the best. Puffy beat out the Wu-Tang Clan with his debut studio album No Way Out , which features many of his most classic hits to date, including “Victory” featuring Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes, “I’ll Be Missing You” featuring Faith Evans and 112, “It’s All About The Benjamins” featuring Lil Kim, The Lox, and Notorious B.I.G., “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,” feat. Mase and more. Puffy also beat out Missy Elliott’s Supa Dupa Fly , Notorious B.I.G.’s Life After Deat h, and Wyclef Jean’s Wyclef Jean Presents The Carnival . Paris Jackson: Breaking Down Over New Michael Jackson Documentary?

In the wake of the shocking Lifetime docuseries Surviving R. Kelly , there’s been a renewed interest in past sex crimes committed by the music world’s most powerful men. Now, as the recording industry comes to grips with its own #MeToo movement, fans and critics alike are bracing for a documentary that promises to shed new light on the child molestation allegations against Michael Jackson. If Leaving Neverland is as effective as Surviving R. Kelly , then it’s sure to leave little doubt about Jackson’s guilt and foster profound sympathy for the singer’s victims. The film may prove to be a powerful force for justice as well as a healing source of catharsis for Jackson’s victims. But it’s likely to cause considerable pain to Jackson’s family — particularly his three children, who have long maintained their father’s innocence. Last week, Michael’s only daughter,  Paris Jackson, checked into rehab citing mental health issues as the cause. The situation is being handled with the utmost care, as the 20-year-old’s emotional breakdowns have taken her to some very dark places in the past. In 2013,  Paris attempted suicide  and has fallen into several frightening downward spirals in the years since. So naturally, there’s profound concern among the Jacksons regarding how Paris will cope with the revelations contained in Leaving Neverland. “The family is absolutely horrified by this, especially during a time when Paris is so fragile,” a source tells Radar Online. Part of the problem, it seems, is that while Paris has always publicly defended her father, privately, she’s long harbored doubts about his innocence. “Paris is so vocal about this, but it is so painful for her because she remembers her father hanging out with young boys,” the insider says. “She always thought it was strange, which is why this really hits her hard.” Despite her misgivings, however, those closest to Paris say she’s consistently been able to suppress her doubts and argue in favor of her father’s innocence. “She believes her father never did these things and doesn’t understand why they keep trying to bring this back,” the source claims. As for how her family will handle the fallout from the documentary, it seems that for the time being at least, they’ve decided the best option is simply to keep Paris in the dark. “They won’t even let her see it,” says the source. “This is something that could send her to the grave.” Our thoughts go out to everyone who will be forced to confront new truths or painful memories when the film makes its debut.

Welcome to another installment of Global Grind’s The Rewind .  Like we always do at this time, Global Grind’s bullies, DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are back once again for another episode of  The Rewind . Every week we get our experts to discuss the cultural happenings of the last week and then rate them from a 1-10. In case you have been living under a rock,  The Rewind  will always be here to get you right. On today’s episode, we’re unpacking Netflix’s Bird Box . By now, you’ve gotten the opportunity to see the film at least once. Bird Box stars Sandra Bullock and Moonlight  break out star Trevante Rhodes. Bird Box  is a post apocalyptic thriller that begins when a mysterious force threatens the end of civilization. The force, if you look at it, causes you to not only do bodily harm to yourself but pushes you to kill yourself. Mallory, played by Sandra Bullock, connects with a group of people with the desire to survive the end of the world. Eventually, Mallory must use her instincts to keep her and her children alive with the help of good samaritans and a box of birds. Mallory and the children are blindfolded for the majority of the film and have to figure out how to navigate the world without the ability to see. Trevante Rhodes’ character, Tom, plays an unlikely love interest in the film. The movie hit Netflix on December 13, 2018, and social media has had mixed reactions about whether or not they enjoyed it. What did Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise think? They drop their opinions and give it a rating. Also, Landon and Franchise dive into one of the most highly discussed topics in 2019 so far — R. Kelly. The six part docu-series Surviving R. Kelly premiered on the Lifetime network on January 3 and ever since then, it has been all anyone has been talking about. The series touched on R. Kelly’s past allegations of inappropriate sexual contact with minors and spoke to R. Kelly’s former victims, family members, friends, employees and even his music teacher. Journalist Dream Hampton directed the documentary which reignited the entire #MuteRKelly movement. Landon and Franchise share their thoughts on Surviving R. Mike Sorrentino: Prison Release Date FINALLY Revealed!

As you’ve likely heard by now, Mike Sorrentino began his prison sentence earlier this week. Back in January of 2018,  Sorrentino pled guilty to charges that he had failed to pay taxes on more than $9 million in earnings.  Sorrentino was sentenced to eight months behind bars, and today, Radar Online has confirmed that his release date is scheduled for September 13 of this year. Of course, prison release dates are rarely set in stone, particularly when the inmate in question is a celebrity who seems to have truly dedicated himself to rehabilitation and self-improvement in the months prior to his sentence. Federal prison consultant Dan Wise confirms that The Sitch will likely be sprung well ahead of schedule. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be permitted to head straight home: “On such a short sentence of 8 months they will send him to a halfway house for two to three months at the end,” Wise claims . “Because of who he is, he may even get home confinement.” Yes, Mike is likely to serve a shorter sentence largely because he’s famous. That’s not to say that he’s receiving preferential treatment because of his celebrity status (although that could certainly be the case). The reasons why a parole board might prefer to grant Sorrentino an early release have more to do with the fact that celebrities are thought to be risky distractions by prison officials. If anything should happen to Mike, a lot of people who prefer to keep low profiles would suddenly find themselves making national headlines. Add that to the fact that Sorrentino’s sobriety and philanthropic work has been well-documented by MTV camera crews, and it’s not hard to see why Mike might be a prime candidate for early release. All he has to do now is keep is nose clean and serve his time quietly. According to Sorrentino’s wife, Lauren Pesce, that’s exactly what he’s been doing. Pesce tweeted an update to fans from Mike’s account earlier this week: “Mike would like to thank all of his fans worldwide for the unbelievable outpouring of love & support,” she wrote. “We speak everyday & he’s doing great. He’s received thousands of letters, he won’t be able to respond to everyone but wanted to express his gratitude to each and every one of you,” Lauren added. “Thank you from the both of us; it is truly heartwarming to have this support during this time.” Here’s hoping Mike’s time on the inside is as brief and uneventful as possible. Jesus Take The Wheel: Playboi Carti Convicted Of Trashing Luxury Tour Bus And Assaulting The Driver

Source: Josh Brasted / Getty Playboi Carti Convicted For February Assault And Bus Damage Playboi Carti  was accused of attacking his tour bus driver and trashing the bus at a Scottish motorway service station in February of 2018. According to the  BBC , Carti was just found guilty of both assault and causing damage to the luxury coach bus on January 17. The rapper was fined £800 – £500 for assault and £300 for allegedly damaging one of the driver’s windows. The site further reports that Carti had previously denied ever assaulting the driver, but did admit to causing damage to the bus. Apparently the entire conflict started after the tour bus stopped working while Playboi Carti and the rest of his 14-member entourage were traveling from Glasgow to London. The driver eventually had to stop the bus so he could get the heating to work and a replacement bus was later sent by. Alistair MacLeish, who was working as one of the bus drivers at the time, said that he witnessed Carti assaulting the driver of the rapper’s original bus. “I saw things being thrown around the tour bus and then a man ran across and punched the driver on the face, cutting him and knocking his glasses off,” he explained. “It was the accused Carter who had been standing with a group but as two guys tried to restrain him he wriggled past them ran across and punched the driver who stumbled back. The driver did not do anything to him and did not retaliate.” Carti’s tour managers still maintain that Carti was simply acting in self-defense during the altercation. Continue reading →

According to a stunning new report, Kody Brown has given new meaning to the series title Sister Wives. There is now an emphasis on the SISTER , Radar Online explains. Allow us to explain… Kody and Janelle Brown were “spiritually” married way back on January 20, 1993, with the latter becoming Kody’s second proverbial ball and chain after Meri. They have six kids together. But we’ve now learned that Kody’s father, William Winn Brown, was married to Janelle’s mother, Sheryl, at the time of his death in August of 2013 at age 78. You can figure out what this means, right? It means that Kody and Janelle are brother and sister AND husband and wife! To be clear, of course, they are not biologically related. They are simply step-siblings., connected through the marriage of their marriage. Still, though. This is yet another twist and turn in the saga of a show that has often garnered backlash for promoting the polygamous lifestyle. The unusual family tree was actually discussed back in a 2013 episode of the TLC program. “Before Kody and I were really courting, I was actually friends with his family,” Janelle explained on air, adding at the time: “My mom was worried I was getting sucked into some polygamous cult. But she ended up meeting Kody’s dad and they ended up falling in love and getting married before Kody and I started courting.” Imagine of Jan Brady got together with Greg Brady. That’s basically what we’re talking about here. It’s not incestuous, it’s just… weird. But that label can likely be applied to every aspect of Sister Wives by most of its fans, viewers, followers and, especially, critics. Last summer, meanwhile, Jenelle addressed rumors that she’s leaving Kody and Sister Wives behind.  In an indirect and yet pointed manner, that is. “I’ve wanted to see U2 in concert since I was 19. Finally made it 30 years later and with my love. So dang excited,” she wrote as a caption to a photo of her and Kody at a show. We’ve shared this picture below. Later, Jenelle responded to chatter about her plans to depart the series as “rubbish.” So there you have it, we guess. In related news, Sister Wives will finally return with new episodes on Sunday, January 20. Based on the trailer, it looks as though a major focus will shift from Jenelle’s status to that of Meri, who has also been rumored for well over a year now to be sick and tired of her situation within the family. Former Roc-A-Fella Affiliate Choke No Joke Claims Dame Dash Tried To Steal Beyoncé from Jay-Z

With the recent drama that Dame Dash caused when he tried to throw Jay-Z’s reputation under the bus , this has become the current situation. In a recently unearthed video, former Roc-A-Fella in-house videographer Choke No Joke actually corroborated Funk Master Flex’s allegation that Dame Dash tried to steal Beyoncé from Jay-Z during an interview with Star. When asked by the OG radio personality if something ever happened between Dame Dash and Beyoncé, Choke confirmed that Dame indeed tried to get it popping with Bey behind Jay’s back, but ultimately nothing happened. “Yup.  mean nothing happened like he kissed or sexed her. Did he try to holler at her? Yeah. That’s the same thing he did with Aaliyah, but Aaliyah fell for it. He also wasn’t gonna violate Jay like that. I mean we all know there was a point at Roc-A-Fella where Dame was not allowed around Beyoncé. Anybody that worked there at that time knew that Dame was not allowed around f*ckin’ Beyoncé ‘cause he was a creep.” Word? Was Dame the OG leader of the Creep Squad whose membership includes many of Love & Hip Hop ‘s cast members? Probably not but still this doesn’t put him the best of lights regardless of how bad his relationship with Jay might’ve been at the time. But before everyone goes judging our dearly departed Aaliyah for walking out on Jay for his business partner, Choke feels that even though Dame went behind Jay’s back to holla at her, “the only reason Aaliyah may have went for it is cause Jay wouldn’t be public with her cause he was tryin’ to keep that sh*t private.” That makes sense. Caitlyn Jenner: Marrying Sophia Hutchins With Kanye West as Best Man?!?

Caitlyn Jenner has come to realize that Donald Trump is the worst , but Kanye West is still riding the Trump Train. Even so, these two are still part of the extended Kardashian family and have a lot in common. And that’s part of why Cait is reportedly planning to invite Kanye to be her Best Man when she marries Sophia Hutchins. RadarOnline   has released a shocking report that says that Caitlyn Jenner and Sophia Hutchins want Kanye to be Best Man at their wedding. “Of all the Kardashians, Cait says it’s Kanye who supported her when she was most vulnerable,” the insider explains. “She wants to honor him,” the source continues. There are plenty of ways to do that. A nice card, for example. A tasteful gift. Instead, the insider says that Cait wants to repay Kanye “with the role as ‘best man’ at the ceremony.” We don’t mean to tell Cait how to live her life or plan her wedding. But … doesn’t she have three sons and a stepson? Surely, one would assume, Sophia could talk Cait out of having Kanye be the Best Man. But the source tells  RadarOnline  that Sophia is “all for it.” According to the insider: “They will always hold a grudge.” After Kris and Khloe began keeping Cait at arm’s length, “Kanye’s stayed friendly with Caitlyn and makes it known,” the source notes. As far as Cait and Sophia are concerned, the insider says, “Kanye stuck up for Cait.” The source continues, saying that Kanye did so “even when she wasn’t on good terms with his wife, Kim.” That was something “which means a lot” to Cait, the insider explains. That makes a lot of sense, though it doesn’t quite mesh with this next bit. “She knows it may annoy Kim and Kris that she wants Kanye to stand up for her at the wedding,” the source acknowledges. “But,” the insider continues. “She can’t help that.” “There’s a lot of love and respect between Cait and Kanye.” the source characterizes. The insider then claims that “not even the Kardashians can come between them!” Well, it’s certainly true that no one seems to be able to control Kanye. So, which parts of this report are confirmed? The part about Cait being at odds with most of the Kardashian clan is true. She wrote a tell-all book that many of them felt was insulting, especially to Kris. Some of them feel that  Caitlyn betrayed her family , even though Kendall and Kylie still love her. But as for the rest? No. It’s not just the bit about making Kanye their Best Man just to stick it to Kris and Kim somehow, either. Cait and Sophia go everywhere together and appear inseparable, whether it’s at home or on vacation. But technically, they’re not even confirmed as anything more than very good friends. Until these gal pals say otherwise, they’re not planning a wedding. Or engaged. Or dating. It’s understandable that they don’t feel like being outspoken about … whatever the nature of their relationship may be. First of all, their age gap would raise people’s eyebrows. Second of all, trans women’s bodies are fetishized and people have some horrific opinions based upon their perceived sex lives. They could be very good friends who don’t want to fan flames and rumors by denying them. Or they could be dating but it’s just literally nobody’s business. Amber Portwood SLAMS David Eason: Fight Me, You F–king Loser!

Folks, Amber Portwood is unleashing her infamous wrath on Instagram again — and this time, her target is a couple that definitely deserves it. Amber let loose on Jenelle Evans and David Eason during a live rant this morning, and for millions of Eason-haters, it was glorious to behold. Sure, Amber's had her problems over the years — who hasn't? — but Jenelle and David aren't messed up in a “relatable reality star” kind of way Unless, of course, you consider bigoted tirades, constant abuse allegations, and visits from the Secret Service to be relatable. No, what we have here is a pair of trainwrecks who need to be put in their place. And it seems Amber is the one to do it. Take a look: 1. Mad Amber Amber is not happy with the latest behavior from David Eason and Jenelle Evans. And it seems she’s not shy about telling the couple what’s on her mind. 2. Hard Times Amber has been having a difficult go of it following a bout with post-partum depression, but it seems she’s well enough to come after the biggest D-bag on television. 3. Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Amber is so pissed off that her rant started yesterday — and is still going strong today. 4. Like We Said, She’s Angry It all started with Amber going OFF on an abusive, “disgusting clown” … who really doesn’t need to be named. 5. Attack of the #B*tchmen Obviously, it’s pretty clear that Amber’s rant against abusers and bullies is targeted squarely at David. 6. Expecting a Response “You know who you are and you will respond or your girl.
