Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” was one of the biggest songs of 2012, and the hip hop duo has gone on to release a string of hits and take home the Grammy for Artist of the Year. Yet, somehow, no one knows who Ryan Lewis is…at least not the people who crossed paths with the producer during the making of this sketch for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon: Jimmy Fallon: Who is Ryan Lewis? Yes, he’s not wearing any sort of disguise and he even asks people point blank if they know who Ryan Lewis is on several occasions…and still no recognition. For one dude, it’s only after Lewis holds up a freakin’ picture of himself while continuing to grill him about the identity of Ryan Lewis that the connection is made. Funny stuff. Of course, this isn’t the first time Lewis has demonstrated an admirably self-deprecating sense of humor. Back in October, Lewis and Macklemore prank-called ticket scalpers and posted the hilarious results on YouTube. We guess people just don’t recognize hip hop producers unless they buy their clothes firsthand.
