The Real Housewives of Orange County Reunion Recap: The Claws Are Out

Not much can top Tamra’s nicknaming Alexis “Jesus Jugs” last week, but with Brooks and Briana stopping by the Real Housewives of Orange County are going to try. Someone get poor Andy Cohen a helmet. Or vodka. Let’s get to part two of the RHOC Reunion with our THG +/- review. Andy addresses Gretchen and Alexis’ falling out first. It’s clear that Alexis is more upset about this than Gretchen is because her hands are flapping around like she’s trying to direct an airplane to landing. Nose job. Sinus surgery. You didn’t have my back. Yes, I did. Whatever. If Alexis attempts to look down her new nose any more she’s going to go cross-eyed. And now Alexis’ Fox 5 segment comes up. Gretchen pulls out an email that proves that Fox 5 wanted her first. Alexis says the producer said they’d never offered Gretchen the job. Neither woman can see that a producer might say whatever needed to be said to get the job done. Minus 12. Tamra ends that bit by asking if Alexis still works at Fox 5. She doesn’t. The first question Andy has? How many square feet in her house. 14,300 square feet. Not including the garages and the loggias. And she needed a bigger house for what reason? Minus 4 . Andy brings up Bowgate. Heather admits that maybe she made it a bigger deal than it was. Plus 12 . Up next? Brooks. It seems like this is the first time Vicki’s seen just how nuts she was at the end of the season, judging by the look on her face. This should be interesting. Brooks clarifies that he doesn’t have four kids with three women. He has four kids with two women. And then he says that all of his affirmations for Vicki are related to the fact that he’s southern and that that’s how southern men do things. I’ve lived in the south my entire life, y’all, and this is not how men down her do things. Minus 5 . Tamra thinks Brooks studied the show to learn how to get to Vicki. Interesting. Brooks then says he was “protecting his lady” from Tamra’s eye roll. Because eye rolls are the new weapons of mass destruction. Minus 8 . He also says he wouldn’t take relationship advice from Tamra because doing that would be like taking financial advice from someone who’s bankrupt. Zing! Alexis chimes in to defend Vicki and Brooks and is met with a “shut up, dingbat” and “You’re so not relevant” from Tamra. Double zing! Gretchen’s relationship with Slade is up for discussion next. It’s still Slade’s pesky debt that keeps them from being engaged. Slade drives her to appointments. He books her gigs. He schedules her training sessions. She’s not paying him for any of it. Minus 15. In true Vicki fashion, she makes this all about her. If Slade’s not an opportunist, Brooks isn’t either. And apparently, Eddie’s a smooth-talking a**hole? Gah. Vicki. I’m done with you. Minus 12 . The conversation ended with Gretchen calling Vicki a hypocrite. Again. Briana’s on the couch now and surprise! She’s pregnant! Again, in true Vicki fashion, she cried for half an hour when she found out Briana was pregnant. Minus 3. Briana and Ryan moved in with Vicki. So now Briana, Ryan, Vicki, AND DONN all live in the same house. Because it’s a big house. Briana’s still pretty hesitant about Brooks. As in, she has nothing to do with him. Briana’s take is that Brooks just wants to be Vicki-the-Real-Housewife’s boyfriend and not the Real Vicki’s boyfriend. Tamra agrees. Plus 8. Brooks outed Briana’s pregnancy and her family wedding to local radio. And Vicki keeps defending him. Minus 30. And then Vicki called her daughter a liar. On television. Minus 10. Briana mentions, again, that Vicki probably had an emotional affair with Brooks long before their relationship became physical. Gretchen calls it “weird” because of accusations that Gretchen cheated on Jeff. Vicki says Donn had an affair for 20 years. And then slams Tamra for dating Eddie while she was married to Simon. There’s a whole lot of cheating going on, y’all. Briana’s the voice of reason and Gretchen’s on the verge of tears. Pass out some tissues. Or the booze. As a recap of the season, Heather says she had fun and hopes she and Alexis left everything in Costa Rica. Alexis says she’s going to try to be a better person every day. Gretchen says this was an emotionally tough season. Tamra’s had a lot of change in her life, including gaining Gretchen as a friend and losing Vicki. Vicki’s confused. Just drink already, people. Cheers, y’all. EPISODE TOTAL: -67

Maroon 5’s Adam Levine Takes A Beating In ‘One More Night’ Clip

‘He hit me, and I was like, ‘Oww, man!’ ‘ frontman recalls of his training during ‘MTV First: Maroon 5.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by James Montgomery Maroon 5’s Adam Levine Photo: Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine gets his Raging Bull on in the new “One More Night” video. Levine and lead guitarist James Valentine were kind enough to premiere the action-packed new music video during “MTV First: Maroon 5” on Monday (June 25), and during the Q&A that immediately followed that debut, Levine revealed that he happily took a beating to prepare for the boxing aspect of the shoot. “I had a little bit of training. I’ll never forget. During the little bit of training, I got the guy who was training me. He hit me, and it hurt,” Levine admitted. “I’ve never really been in a full-blown fight before, but the guy hit me pretty hard. I’m a wimp, so it was worse [for me] than someone who’s tough, but he hit me, and I was like, ‘Oww, man!’ ” Levine said the boxing in the clip, which was born from the video treatment Levine wrote himself and delivered to director Peter Berg , is a metaphor for how our romantic entanglements can sometimes feel like a fight. ” ‘One More Night’ was one of the songs that was more far along when we heard it,” Levine recalled of first hearing the Max Martin and Shellback-produced track. “Shellback, who did ‘Moves Like Jagger’ with us, it was one of those things that the instant we heard it as a group, we thought, ‘Wow.’ “I do love the lyrics,” Levine continued. “The metaphor that we spoke of earlier, a relationship between two people, sometimes when it’s not going so well, it feels like a battle. Like a boxing match.” Stick with MTV News for more from our exclusive interview with Maroon 5! Related Videos MTV First: Maroon 5 Related Artists Maroon 5

Kristen Stewart Went ‘Through Hell’ For ‘Snow White’ … And Loved It

‘Huntsman’ premiere kicks off Sneak Peek Week, leading up to Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News Our action-packed lead-up to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards kicked off in a big way Tuesday (May 29) with our first Sneak Peek Week screening, of “Snow White and the Huntsman” . Not only were we able to present an exclusive clip from the highly anticipated film and screen it for a very lucky and enthusiastic audience, but stars Kristen Stewart and Sam Claflin were also on hand for a lighthearted-but-juicy Q&A, during which they revealed the pain and gain of their arduous-yet-rewarding experience. “I think it was way more about getting ready to go through hell rather than learning fight sequences and stuff,” Stewart said. “Every time I learned something, it was so not right [for the character]. Everything that I do in the movie, I could physically do.” For Stewart’s co-star Claflin, who makes an impressive entrance in the film as the dashing and very skilled archer William, the actor was happy to have seasoned action star Chris Hemsworth around on set for guidance. “For me, I had Chris Hemsworth to look at constantly,” Claflin said of who he modeled his character after. “Way to make you feel less of a man. I think the producers wanted me to be him, but he couldn’t play both parts. I was training quite a lot. One day I was on set when he took his top off and said, ‘Can you hold this?’ and [his stomach] is literally an ironing board,” he joked, before admitting that his training was not at all easy. “It was hard. It was very hard work.” Don’t forget to tune into MTV and MTV.com for more Sneak Peek Week fun with stars from “Magic Mike,” “That’s My Boy” and “Rock of Ages,” all leading up to the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards live on Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET. Sharon Simmons, 55-Year-Old Cheerleader, Tries Out For Dallas Cowboys’ Squad

Sharon Simmons has wanted to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader since her 20s. Now, at 55, the fitness model is finally reaching for her dreams. “I thought about this when I was about 22 years old. I was a single mom, and I wanted to do it,” said Simmons, a grandmother, in an interview. The 55-year-old cheerleader planned on auditioning decades ago, but money, time, and raising a family delayed her dream for half a lifetime. But last weekend Simmons finally tried out . Joining hundreds of others over the weekend to audition for the squad at Cowboys Stadium, she said: “It literally has been about the journey.” “I’ve met incredible people, I’ve learned so many new things.” Fox reports that Simmons has written a book about ageless fitness and has won several competitions in her successful career as a fitness model. She said: “I don’t see a number… If I do, it’s just a number. It’s not that I can’t keep up with [younger women] in the physical part of the training.” If Simmons makes the team, she will be the oldest cheerleader in the league. She won’t be, however, the only grandmother in the NFL, though. Suzie Sanchez of the Oakland Raiders is also a grandma … though Sanchez is only 37. Laura Vikmanis is currently the oldest NFL cheerleader at 42.

‘Hunger Games’: Five Best Scenes Not In The Movie

We recognize the big-screen adaptation’s time constraints, but we missed these moments from the book. By Fallon Prinzivalli Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate Translating a novel into a Hollywood blockbuster is not an easy task. Since there is limited time, a lot of the juicy tidbits get lost in translation. With a book as popular as “The Hunger Games,” fan criticism lurks at every turn and the screenwriters are careful to include as many of the beloved scenes as possible. Luckily, the adaptation of the book to the big screen left this weekend’s moviegoers extremely pleased. While we are understanding of the time constraints — the movie is already over two hours — there were a few key “Hunger Games” book scenes we would have loved to see in the film. Wanna win a Hunger Games special edition HP laptop from MTV News? Click here to enter! For those of you who have yet to read the book, there are spoilers ahead. (Also, what are you waiting for?! If you enjoyed the movie, the book will fill in all the missing details.) From Haymitch’s drunken fall to District 11’s respect for Katniss to Katniss’ fight to get back to Peeta, here are our picks for the five key scenes from the book not in the movie: Haymitch Falling Offstage at the Reaping From the start of the Reaping scene with Prim stopped dead in her tracks to the end when Katniss is escorted to her holding room, the audience is left shaking in their seats. Katniss volunteering in place of Prim saw quite a few audience members already in tears too. In the novel, before Effie begins her infamous “Happy Hunger Games!” speech, there is a quick scene where Haymitch is so drunk he falls off the stage. It adds a little comic relief to his introduction, but it also sets up the mentor’s troubled state and shows the effect the Games had on him years later as a grown man. Peeta’s Father Bringing Katniss Cookies In the book, before Katniss and Peeta board the train for the Capitol, Katniss gets a surprise visitor: Peeta’s dad, the District 12 baker, brings her a plate of cookies and informs her that he’ll make sure Prim is eating. It’s a touching gesture that confuses Katniss at first. She is familiar with Mr. Mellark because he buys the squirrels she hunts in the woods, but he has no obligation to her or her family. Katniss comes to believe it is because everyone merely tolerates her but they cannot help but love innocent, friendly Prim. The scene sets the audience up for Katniss’ distrust of Peeta throughout the book. District 11 Sending Katniss Bread The District 11 uprising after Rue’s death in the movie adaptation is absent from the novel. In lieu of this scene, Katniss is sent a sponsor gift containing a loaf of bread. During their training before the Games, Peeta explained to Katniss the different types of bread in each district, and Katniss immediately recognizes the loaf as coming from District 11. In recognition of the gift, she says a thank you to the district out loud. While the movie scene shows the power Katniss already possesses against the Capitol, the book scene slowly sets up the other districts’ willingness to trust her. Katniss Telling Peeta the Story of Prim’s Goat While Katniss attempts to nurse Peeta back to health — to no avail, as his leg gets worse — a feverish Peeta asks her to tell him a story. Knowing that the Capitol and Gamemakers are listening to every word, she leaves out the details of her and Gale hunting in the woods and tells him the story of how she bought Prim’s goat, Lady. After selling a young buck at the Hob, Katniss has enough money to buy Prim a nice birthday present. She passes on a hairbrush and cloth for a dress in favor of an injured goat. Prim loves animals, and with her mother’s help, they were able to nurse Lady back to health. The milk from the goat helped the Everdeens survive after their father’s death. Katniss’ ability to open up to Peeta adds to the love-triangle dynamic. The more Katniss reveals about herself to Peeta, the more she starts to care for him and vice versa, whereas Gale was around to experience these moments with her. Katniss Screaming for Peeta After the Games One of the more powerful scenes in the book comes when Katniss and Peeta are airlifted out of the arena and onto a hover craft. Katniss sees Peeta being taken away, but at the time, she is unaware of the reason. As they are separated, Katniss begins pounding on a glass door while screaming Peeta’s name. While the audience is left to wonder whether Katniss is really in love with Peeta, this scene shows that, regardless of whether it was all an act, she cares about him. Later on, this scene is replayed in front of the Capitol during an interview with Caesar Flickerman and shows that the star-crossed-lovers act just might save her life — at least for now. Watch: Robert Altman’s Lost First Film, Modern Football, Finally Unearthed

“But this time it’s no daydream,” the narrator intones. “This is it! You’ve got the equipment, the practice, the coaching, the training. You have the help of your parents, your coach, your school. But now, brother, it’s all up to you .” So concludes Modern Football , a half-ad/half-gridiron tutorial recently unearthed at a Kansas City flea market for $10. It’s an uncanny bit of portent as well for the rookie director behind the camera, a 26-year-old Missourian named Robert Altman. It’s not quite Nashville , but as 1951 industrial spots go, I’d say it’s probably approaching state-of-the-art (watch for Altman’s very brief cameo as a sports announcer at 2:37): The 16mm reel was discovered in Altman’s hometown by filmmaker Gary Huggins , who shared his discovery on YouTube before talking to SF Weekly [via Filmdrunk ]: “I bought a stack of old instructional films for $10 and never got around to screening them,” Huggins says. ” Modern Football sounded really dull. But when I recently did, I glimpsed Altman, who cameos as a sports reporter, and knew I had something incredible.” “Dull”?!? Speak for yourself! ‘Caged’ Brings ‘Roller Coaster Of Emotions’

‘All sorts of things go wrong, all sorts of things go right,’ castmember Matt ‘Danger’ says of episode two of MTV series. By Matt Elias “Caged” star Matt “Danger” Photo: MTV News The series premiere of MTV’s new docu-reality show “Caged” brought plenty of hard knocks and drama on Monday night. The show centers on the lives of MMA fighters both in the cage and out, and from what we saw, both bring heavy blows. From the rocky relationship between castmembers Wes and Red to fellow fighter Daniel’s tragic loss of his girlfriend Hannah, this season is sure to bring plenty of drama. Even the training leading up to a big fight had its heart-pounding moments, like Wes’ decision to don a sauna suit in a hot car in order to sweat away water weight. While the premiere focused more on the personal lives of Daniel and Wes, episode two brings more attention to the series’ other standout castmember Matt, a.k.a. “Danger.” “In the next episode, you’ll see a little more of my story and [the show] will start picking up more with me,” Danger told MTV News. In last Monday’s episode we saw a bit of that story begin to develop. Danger confronted his sister about her decision to be a stripper, but the season teaser shown at the end of the episode alluded to an even bigger family problem: his mother’s struggles with alcohol. “At the time, my mother was going through a really difficult time, so I move in with her, I quit my job and start training full time. And it’s a roller coaster of emotions and all sorts of things go wrong, all sorts of things go right, and a lot of things fell into my favor and a lot of things didn’t,” Danger said. “But y’all stay tuned and hopefully enjoy my story and become a fan of mine. I’m a hardworking fighter and I think you’ll be able to tell.” While we’ve seen the downs, the series isn’t without its ups. Danger was careful not to reveal too much, but he clued us in to what some of those ups will include over the course of this season. “In coming episodes, you’ll be able to see good friends of mine — a buddy of mine, Tony Kelly, he’s coming up. He’s a good training partner and one of my best training partners. I’ve been training with that dude now for two, three years — so very excited to see him get his opportunity to shine.” You can catch “Caged” on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
