Logan Paul Reveals Traumatic Brain Injury that Causes Lack of Empathy

YouTube villain Logan Paul can't stop getting into trouble. From filming a suicide victim's body to vowing to “go gay” for a month , he courts controversy. But he has now revealed that he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Does that explain his misdeeds? Does it excuse them? In a new video titled ” I have holes in my brain ,” Logan Paul bombards a sleeping friend of his with sandwich ingredients … and then goes to have a brain scan. The doctor, who is so compassionate and nurturing, shows Logan a scan of his brain. “You see these holes?” the doctor asks, pointing at Logan's brain scan results. “It's not missing, but it's hurt.” Logan had a traumatic brain injury when he was in seventh grade. it did damage to his skull, resulting in a titanium plate. “And this is really important,” the doctor says of Logan's brain. “Because right here is the most human thoughtful part of us.” To simplify the importance of the prefrontal cortex, the doctor explains: “It makes you human.” “It's called the pre-frontal cortex,” his doctor explains. “And you hurt it.” He continues: “which means you're going to have trouble with focus and forethought, and follow-through, and organization, planning, empathy.” The prefrontal cortex deals with what we consider to be higher thought and matters of self-control. The doctor points out that this is a big deal regarding “relationships and learning from the mistakes you make.” So … has Logan Paul not learned his lesson because he literally cannot learn from his mistakes? “We need to fix this,” the doctor emphasizes. “If we don't fix this,” he says. “No matter how successful you are, you're not going to make the decisions you need to move your life in the direction you want.” “Living the rest of your life with this brain is not going to be a lot of fun,” he warns. “For you or for the people who love you.” Notably, failures of the prefrontal cortex can lead people to jeopardize their relationships because they lack impulse control and foresight. The doctor explains that Logan could miss out on a lot “because you're going to have trouble connecting.” “You're smart,” the doctor affirms. “You're just not making the kind of decisions that will help you.” “Our question is… well, can we make it better?” he continues. He asks: “Are you permanently messed up or can we make this better?” The answer, as it turns out, is that there may be hope. But Logan will have to change some of his behaviors. “I think it's more traumatic brain injury that needs to be rehabilitated,” the doctor assesses. He encourages Logan to “get rid of any high-risk behavior that's going to put you at risk for another head injury,” He explains that this is vital “because this brain is not going to tolerate a lot more brain injury.” That doesn't just mean avoiding, say, skateboarding. Logan admits that he drinks about once a week, but drinks heavily when he does this. Alcohol could really be impairing his brain's recovery. Logan Paul also mentions that he seems to have undiagnosed ADD, but that he has viewed it as a creative asset. (That's a shockingly healthy perspective on his part) The thing is that lacking empathy doesn't magically make a person bad. Logan has been making choices all along. Morally speaking, he may not be responsible if he blurts something out. But choosing to film a corpse, then do a detailed edit of footage and broadcast it is not a mere impulse. If he wants to save his image, this video could be an effective if dishonest way of trying to get people to excuse his past actions. That said … we would be genuinely interested in a responsible, thoughtful Logan Paul. He'd be … unrecognizable.

White Teacher Placed On Leave After Allegedly Ripping Out Braids From Student’s Scalp

The rest is here:

A Wisconsin teacher was recently placed on administrative leave after he allegedly ripped several braids from an 11-year-old student’s scalp. According to WISC-TV , the young girl’s mother, Mikiea Price, claims the assault happened on Feb. 13 by the hands of Madison Metropolitan School District’s acting principal and positive behavior support coach Rob Mueller-Owens. Price states that the incident happened when Mueller-Owens got upset when her daughter and a friend that sprayed some perfume in class. When the girls did not listen to him to stop, they were instructed to leave the class. “When he came in, he asked (my daughter) to step out and she didn’t listen, and didn’t step out and as he walked toward her, she said she went toward the window and just wasn’t following direction, and he told her in front of the whole class, to the teacher, ‘Take the class somewhere else,’” Price told  Madison365 . “And (my daughter) said, ‘No, that’s fine. They can stay, I’ll go.’ As the girl was walking out of the classroom, Price said, Mueller-Owens began pushing her out. Soon after, she fell into a row of lockers, where the teacher lost his balance and fell on top of her. It’s believed that somewhere in this scuffle, three of her braids got ripped out. The incident was caught on tape and is currently being reviewed by the Madison police and the school district. The video has yet to be released to the public. A Madison teacher is on leave after a student said he pushed her and pulled out three of her braids (In the photo you can see where those used to be). I spoke with her mom today, who said her daughter is still traumatized and has not been able to return to school. #News3Now pic.twitter.com/iASs6UtZt8 — Amy Reid (@amyreidreports) February 21, 2019 Price, who is also a substitute teacher, says she was never called by the school after the incident and that her daughter never received any medical attention at school. Now, her child is too afraid to come back to class. “Just the whole experience is just traumatic and devastating and just confusing,” Price told WISC-TV. She added, “I’m just disgusted at this whole incident. You know I send my kid to school to learn, and that’s a place where mothers send their kids to be comfortable in. I just feel violated in so many ways that … this even happened to her.” Price is also disappointed because Mueller-Owen is an expert on restorative discipline practices, which focuses on getting to the root of behavioral problems with positive techniques. “That’s the devastating part about it,” Price said. “That’s the disgusting part about it. To have that much education and that much training and that much knowledge, to be certified with kids and not follow protocol, I think that’s the part that hurt me the most and disappointed me the most.” The Madison Metropolitan School District released the following statement: “As a District, we take any situation of this nature very seriously. All of our students need to be safe and supported in school, and we have a thorough investigation process and protocol that we follow. While we cannot talk about the details of a specific student or personnel situation, it is our responsibility to consider all of the facts of the situation and determine the right next steps. The staff person was put on leave while the situation was investigated. Based on that investigation, the staff person will not return to Whitehorse Middle School, and we are determining next steps. In addition, our team is coming together to create a full support plan to ensure that students is safe and fully supported at school.” RELATED NEWS: Christian School Apologizes After Teacher Wore Blackface During African History Lesson #JusticeForTamlaHorsford: Why And How Did This Mother Of Five Really Die At An Adult Sleepover? Jussie Smollett Performs, Refuses to Let "Motherf-ckers" Win

Jussie Smollett took to the stage on Saturday night for the first time since he was savagely assaulted just days before . And he had something to say before launching into his set. “I am not fully healed yet, but I’m going to, and I’m gonna stand strong with ya’ll,” the actor/singer said during a concert at the Troubadour club on the Sunset Strip. Referencing the heinous attack, Smollett added: “I had to be here tonight, y’all. I couldn’t let those motherf-ckers win. So I will always stand for love. “I will never stand for anything other than that. Regardless of what anyone else says, I will only stand for love and I hope that you all stand with me.” Smollett was taken by surprise by two assailants around 2 a.m. last Tuesday on his way back from Subway. These attackers tied a rope around his neck and poured bleach all over him, committing an obvious hate crime against someone who is African-American and openly gay. Speaking to the audience last night, Smollett actually clarified a few details around the incident. He said that he was driven to see a doctor but was not hospitalized… suffered bruises but did not break any ribs…and was cleared by his physicians to perform this weekend. “And above all, I fought the f-ck back,” he said, drawing loud cheers. “I’m the gay Tupac.” Folks all over Hollywood have sent Smollett their best wishes, while President Donald Trump did not address the alleged fact that the suspects screamed to Smollett that he’s in “MAGA country.” But the Commander-in-Chief did say the following about the attack on the Empire star: “That I can tell you is horrible. I’ve seen it. Last night. It’s horrible. Doesn’t get worse.” View Slideshow: Jussie Smollett Attacked: Everything We Know So Far Before Smollett began his set yesterday, his siblings Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Jazz Smollett, Jake Smollett, Jocqui Smollett and the eldest, Joel Smollett Jr., took the stage. Said Joel to the crowd: “Jussie is a true artist, that’s how he breathes. “But above all else, above all else, he is the epitome of love. “So on behalf of the Smollett family, we are so proud of our brother and we are here tonight with all of you to give him confidence, the highest praise and unyielding support as he shares his music, his soul and his love to make this world a better place and not to concede to hate.” Jussie then came out and hugged his relatives. The day before Smollett broke his silence about the hate crime . He said via statement: My body is strong but my soul is stronger. More importantly I want to say thank you. The outpouring of love and support from my village has meant more than I will ever be able to truly put into words. Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served. I am not and should not be looked upon as an isolated incident. We will talk soon and I will address all details of this horrific incident, but I need a moment to process. Most importantly, during times of trauma, grief and pain, there is still a responsibility to lead with love. It’s all I know. And that can’t be kicked out of me. L ast year, law school graduate Ieshia Champs posted a graduation photo of her and her five children. The image of her milestone —symbolic of hard work, dedication, and perseverance—took the internet by storm. This year, Champs is taking her career to new levels. According to ABC 13 , she has been selected to be assistant county attorney for the Children’s Protection Practice Group of Harris County. The Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law graduate has had a tough journey. She grew up in the foster-care system where she encountered traumatic experiences, dropped out of high school, and became a single mom at an early age. She’s also been through a lot of loss. When trying to get on the right track she was laid off from her job, experienced homelessness, and the father of two of her children succumbed to his battle with cancer. She used those experiences as fuel and continued to focus on her family and education; which has ultimately led her to where she’s at in her career now. County Attorney Vince Ryan believes that her story can serve as motivation for others. “Ms. Champs is an inspiration to all who are faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles in life,” he said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “We are fortunate that her path has brought her to our Office where she can continue to make a difference in the lives of those impacted by Children’s Protectives Services in Harris County.” Champs says coming into the office is surreal for her. “Sometimes I forget that I’m an attorney until I walk in this office and realize, ‘Hey, this is real’,” she told KHOU11 . “I feel like as a mother, I gave them something to look forward to and something that they can also give their children in the future.” SEE ALSO: #BlackExcellence: Single Mother Of 5 To Graduate Magna Cum Laude From Law School Rutgers Law School Appoints First Black Woman Dean [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3844029″ overlay=”true”]

90 Day Fiance: Does Divorce Always Mean Deportation?

90 Day Fiance weddings don’t always lead to happily ever after. There’s a whole spin-off on that topic, in fact. A new report looks into the question of what exactly happens when a 90 Day Fiance couple gets divorced. And will Larissa Lima’s bloody fight with Colt mean that she’ll be shipped back to Brazil? In the summer of 2018, 90 Day Fiance executive producer Fred Sharp made a boast. “Our batting average on this show is that out of every 25 couples on  90 Day Fiance , we’ve only had three divorces,” he announced. “That’s less than 10% and the current U.S. (divorce) rate is over 40%,” he stated. Three out of twenty-four is, for the record, 12%. Which is higher than 10%. “It’s one of the reasons why people love this show,” Sharp assessed. “It’s so unexpected.” Obviously, Season 6 had two couples file for divorce on the same day, and that barely scratches the surface. That may throw a wrench into the statistics, no matter what the percentages  Regardless of that statement’s apparent struggles with simple mathematics, there’s a larger issue. The stakes for 90 Day Fiance couples are higher than they are when both parties are American citizens. Why? Because divorce means more than just financial woes, stress, custody fights, and general upheaval. For international couples, divorce can mean deportation. For example, let’s look at Colt Johnson and Larissa Lima. After their terrifying fight earlier this month, Colt filed for divorce. Even while Larissa’s face was smeared in her own blood, she tearfully confessed to fans that she feared what this would mean. “I’ll be deported…I just scratch him because he was hurt me,” Larissa lamented. “I’m really hurt, but he called the police first.” As sympathetic as Larissa may have been in that video, this was the third time that police were called to address alleged domestic battery for that couple. Do three arrests and a divorce automatically lead to deportation? E! News spoke to immigration attorney Edward Schulman who offered consultation. “With Larissa, the criminal aspect can also, if she’s convicted of it… with domestic violence that can also trigger deportation proceedings,” Schulman acknowledges “So that brings it into a whole different realm,” than what most 90 Day Fiance couples face. However, Schulman notes: “If Larissa can show that she is a victim of domestic violence, then she can self-petition for a green card.” This would involve “stating that she a victim of violence under the VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) act,” he notes. “And,” Shculman says. “She can then get a green card herself without having the sponsorship of Colt.” Like T-visas for sex trafficking victims, the VAWA green card option is designed to give victims an option to escape or report without being deported. That said, the VAWA was allowed to expire in December, and we do not know how that would impact Larissa’s chances. “However, if she is deemed to be the one who is the aggressor who gets convicted of domestic violence,” Schulman continues. He says: “she could be placed in deportation proceedings and possibly deported from the United States.” “If she came into my office,” Shculman suggests. “I would say that if she really feels that she is a battered spouse, she should start gathering proof of the good faith marriage.” Larissa should also “get a psychological evaluation of herself to show that she has suffered trauma.” “If there are police reports, get those, get pictures, all those can prove that not only was it a good faith relationship,” Shculman says. “But that she is a battered spouse.” Schulman would have similar, if less urgent, advice for Colt Johnson. “I would do exactly the same thing that Larissa is doing, which is getting pictures,” Schulman says. “He doesn’t need to get the psychological evaluation obviously,” he continues. “But he would get the police reports and so forth.” These would be necessary “to pursue criminal proceedings against Larissa.” It sounds like Colt has the upper hand in any potential legal fight that they might have. Larissa speculated that Colt may have planned their fight that way, but that is unclear. Not every couple is as toxic as Colt and Larissa. What does it mean if a non-violent couple divorces? “If they haven’t gotten a green card yet, if the divorce happens prior to them being granted the green card,” Schulman begins In that case, he says, “Then they are out of luck for the green card through that spouse.” But there is hope, Schulman notes, “If the first spouse is still willing to issue an affidavit of support.” “Which is saying that they are willing to monetarily support them,” he continues. “Then they can still get a green card either through that spouse or through a different mechanism.” “It’s rarely seen, especially if someone is getting divorced,” Schulman concludes. “They tend not to want to pursue or help that person anymore.” As fans can recall, the most famous incident of exes on the show fighting over deportation was Mohamed Jbali and Danielle Mullins. Danielle, vowing revenge after feeling used, vowed to get Mohamed deported. In particular, she lamented that he had avoided having sex with her, which she felt invalidated their marriage. She also accused him of cheating. Mohamed is still in the US — he is living in Texas. Danielle was unable to annul their marriage, in part because they had consummated their union — precisely once. Whether Mohamed was using her for a green card or not, he got it. View Slideshow: 90 Day Fiance Couples: Are They Still Together?

Erykah Badu Tries To Clarify Her R. Kelly Comments: ‘I Want Healing For You & Anyone You Hurt’

Source: Taylor Hill / Getty After getting booed at a recent Chicago concert and dragged on social media for defending R. Kelly , Erykah Badu  is now trying to clarify her statements. “I love you. Unconditionally,” she tweeted on Sunday to who we assume was directed at Kelly himself. “[But] that doesn’t mean I support your poor choices. I want healing for you and anyone you have hurt as a result of you being hurt. Is that strange to you?” She concluded, “That’s all I’ve ever said. Anything else has been fabricated or taken out of context.” I love you. Unconditionally. That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices. Anything else has been fabricated or taken out of context. – eb — ErykahBadoula (@fatbellybella) January 21, 2019 Remember, Badu said during a recent performance at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago that she was praying for the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer. “I dunno how everybody else feel about it but I’m putting up a prayer right now for R,” she told the crowd according to his video from TMZ. “I hope he sees the light of day if he done all those things that we’ve seen on TV and heard those ladies talk about. I hope he sees the light of day and comes forward.” After the crowd came for her, she asked them why they can’t forgive him. “What y’all say, fuck him? That’s not love. That’s not unconditional love. But what if one of the people that was assaulted by R Kelly grows up to be an offender, we gonna crucify them?” She added, “They ’bout to R Kelly me to death on the internet, I’m like goddamn. I just want peace and light for everybody and healing for those who are hurt because everyone involved has been hurt, victimized in some kinda way. Love for everybody.”   Now, a lot of folks on Twitter definitely weren’t here for Badu’s explanation, especially given her history of blaming young girls for being sexually abused and her past love for R.
