Ex-NBA Ref Gets Into Brawl With Dominique Wilkins At Philips Arena! [VIDEO]

Read this article:

An ex-NBA referee named Rashan S. Michel waited in Philips Arena after the Hawks-Magic game last night just long enough to demand $12,500 from NBA Hall of Famer and Hawks analyst Dominique Wilkins. As seen in the TMZ-branded video below, Michel confronted Wilkins, shoved him, punched a security guard, and judging from his mug shot, still got the worst of the damage: The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Michel was the youngest NBA ref when he joined the ranks in 1997 at age 23, and he worked for some time in college and professional games. In 2001, he opened his own custom clothing company, and he alleges that Wilkins took unfair advantage of his shop over the years. Travis Porter Are ‘Killing’ Indie Scene With Proud To Be A Problem

Unsigned Atlanta trio say new mixtape is ‘giving most signed artists problems,’ in Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid Travis Porter Photo: MTV News This Week’s Main Pick Street Kings : Travis Porter Holding It Down For : ATL Mixtape : Proud to Be a Problem. Real Spit : Strap, Quez and Ali are bringing that youthful energy with a club banger and the Atlanta trio have fans on the Internet riding for them heavy. “At the moment we are an independent problem,” Quez explained of Travis Porter’s new mixtape Proud to Be a Problem. “We’re proud of it!” he added, acknowledging that the group has earned strong buzz in the South without the backing of a major. “It’s really a good vs. bad thing. It’s a good problem because we letting other independent artists know it’s possible to be known and out there, just grindin’. It’s a bad problem because we’re giving most signed artists problems.” As you can tell, these guys aren’t exactly modest about their increasing popularity. Several months ago, Travis Porter hooked up with Roscoe Dash and put out a version of “All the Way Turnt Up.” Eventually Dash, who came up with the song, released it officially through his own label, Interscope. The Interscope version didn’t feature Travis Porter, but included Soulja Boy. Still, TP kept their movement going, releasing the Problem mixtape a few weeks back — the downloads were crazy. And the group is in no rush to sign with a major label just yet. “At the moment, we’re like a high school player on the verge of going to college,” Strap said of Travis Porter’s unsigned status. “We have to pick the right one. We have to weigh out all the options and pick the best deal accordingly. When that time comes, we’ll make that decision. But at the moment, we’re killing the independent scene.” Quez and Ali have a familial bond and they’ve known Strap since they were 12. “Well, me and Ali are stepbrothers,” Quez began to explain. “So we been knowing each other. We met Strap in like the 6th grade and made a group called the Hard Hittaz and been makin’ great music ever since.” Travis Porter also have a short film out to accompany their mixtape. Drake Keeps Lil Wayne’s Name Alive At BMI Unsigned Urban Showcase

Birdman, Lloyd, Big Boi, Sean Garrett, DJ Drama and others take the stage at 13th annual Atlanta show. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake performs at BMI’s 13th Annual Unsigned Urban Showcase on Tuesday Photo: Jayson Rodriguez/ MTV News ATLANTA — Drake’s a man of his word. On his latest single, “Over,” the young spitter promises that “the Young Money ship is never sinking.” And with Lil Wayne away, the So Far Gone lyricist has continued to soldier on for the camp as evident on his Away From Home tour . On Tuesday night, Drake headlined BMI’s 13th Annual Unsigned Urban Showcase and gave a shout to his incarcerated YM boss, along with fellow jailed MCs Lil Boosie and Gucci Mane. “Free Tunechi and Boosie and free Gucci,” Drake rapped during a freestyle, before telling the crowd that “they make some great music.” The event, held at the Havana Club, was hosted by crooner Lloyd and featured opening act Travis Porter and OutKast’s Big Boi, who was honored with the Legends of ATL Award. Lloyd pulled double duty during the festivities, joining Drake and his band onstage for a series of R&B-tinged hits, like “Successful” and “A Night Off.” Drake then picked things up with rowdier fare like “Uptown” and “Over.” “I know way too many people here right now that I didn’t know last year, who the f— are y’all?” he sang on the hook. Those in attendance for the packed performance included Jermaine Dupri, songwriter Sean Garrett, producer Jazze Pha, Bobby V., and DJ Drama, who co-hosted the proceedings. Drake later pulled Birdman onstage with him for their collaboration “Money to Blow.” The Cash Money boss and Drizzy did their best to keep Wayne’s name active while the rapper completes his jail sentence. “When I say ‘free,’ you say ‘Weezy,’ ” Drake directed the crowd. “I’m gonna do everything I told him I would do, what I said in the song: keep us afloat till he gets back,” Drake told MTV News last month, shortly after Lil Wayne turned himself in to police. “You won’t even notice he’s gone. Promise.” Have you seen Drake on tour? Share your own concert reviews in the comments! Related Artists Drake Lil Wayne

Roscoe Dash Says ‘All The Way Turnt Up’ Is ‘New Age Crunk’

‘Roscoe, he goes hard,’ Soulja Boy Tell’em says. By Shaheem Reid Roscoe Dash Photo: MTV News Roscoe Dash’s “All the Way Turnt Up” is so hot that artists such as Ludacris and Lupe Fiasco had to jump on it and put it on their mixtapes — but Soulja Boy Tell’em openly lobbied via Twitter to appear on the record officially. “When I first heard the ‘All the Way Turnt Up’ song, Roscoe reminded me of myself,” Soulja said recently on the Atlanta set of the video. “I was like, ‘That sounds like a “Turn My Swag On” times 10. I gotta get on that. Roscoe, he goes hard.” Dash, who is a new signee to Soulja Boy’s recording home Interscope Records, obliged the request. “The definition of ‘All the Way Turnt Up’ is a new age crunk — a 2010 crunk,” said Dash, whose stage surname was inspired by the fastest of “The Incredibles.” “I’m not afraid to be different, or do things other people would be afraid to do or do different because they’re afraid of what somebody else might say. I don’t have that thought process.” “Turnt Up” went through some controversy last year when Dash, born Jeffrey Johnson Jr., had guest stars Travis Porter on the record. They put the song out on their mixtape and fans thought the record was actually Travis Porter featuring ATL (Dash’s former moniker) instead of the other way around. The trio have been dropped from the song, as Roscoe is trying to forge his own brand. “When I heard the beat I said, ‘I have to make something different than anything that’s out right now,’ ” Dash explained. “Roscoe Dash is somebody who’s versatile and has a big wide body of different sounds. I just run with it and make good music.” The video for “All the Way Turnt Up” premieres soon and Dash’s debut album Ready Set Go! is slated for a May 11 release.
