MassSave Rebates

In a press conference earlier today, Governor Patrick announced that the state will be using money as incentives for people to upgrade their equipments and appliances by getting a big discount.  Residents of Massachusetts will be receiving rebates if they trade their current appliances with an energy-efficient counterpart. This action of the government is in line with the Earth Day celebration. For consumers to get a rebate voucher, they must log into Mass Save’s Great Appliance Sale website (www.masssave.com/gax) or they may call the MassSave hotline. Retailers have been urging consumers to start making their reservations since this government offer will only last until May 5, 2010. The Mass Exchange Save Great device exchange is the latest example ofuse of the federal republic of recovery dollars to reduce household energy usage, cut costs and reduce waste and emission of greenhouse gases. Discounts are offered for qualified dishwashers, refrigerators, clothe washers and freezers. Residents and consumers can get discounts as high as $250 for every exchanged appliance. Kelly Clarkson’s Jakarta Concert Is Banned

According to an Indonesian Islamic organization, the upcoming concert by Kelly Clarkson in Jakarta is banned under Islamic law for it is being sponsored by a tobacco company. The Muhammadiyah is the second largest Islamic organization in the world’s most populous Muslim country. It has recently proclaimed all smoking forbidden under Islam. According to Yanuar Ilyas, head of the organization’s fatwa, there was no smoking fatwa applied to Clarkson’s concert. It is made clear that smoking is forbidden under Islam. Kelly Clarkson’s Jakarta concert is scheduled for April 29 and is being sponsored by L.A. Lights cigarettes. Even the U.S.-based campaign for Tobacco-Free kids also raised objections and asked Clarkson to cancel the sponsorship. According to Matthew Myers, president of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, if the singer pursues with this concert, she is choosing to be a representative and a spokesperson for the tobacco industry and further more, helping them to market cigarettes to children. On the other hand, if she rejects the sponsorship, she can send a strong and powerful message to children not only in Indonesia but all around the world. Indonesia still has to sign on to such ban before it becomes official. Clarkson’s fans also gave their comments on her Facebook page to drop the tobacco sponsorship. According to a posting entitled “Jakarta Mishap”, the singer said that it is going to be a lose-lose situation and that she’s not happy about it, but the damage has been done and she can’t refuse to cancel on her fans. Shrek Forever After: Premiers At Tribeca Film Festival

The fourth and final Shrek film series “Shrek Forever After” has its premier at the Tribeca Film Festival at New York’s Ziegfeld Theatre. Dreamworks, the flim’s studio, expects a 3-D “Shrek Forever After “to be a box-office hit, capping a franchise that has already earned more thab $1billion at the domestic box office. The movie will be in cinemas on May 21. The voices behind the characters are Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona), Walt Dohrn (Rumpelstiltskin), John Lithgow (Lord Farquaad), Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots), and Eddie Murphy (Donkey) Shrek has become so dedicated to his family and household life. There used to be a time where villagers were scared and would run away in great terror at the mere mention of the name Shrek, but nowadays, the big green ogre is totally different. He is now married to Princess Fiona and raising triplets. Being a father is not a simple task, he even changes his triplets’ diapers. Missing the old days when he felt like a “real ogre”, this domesticated Shrek realizes that nobody is afraid of him anymore. So he recruits Rumpelstiltskin , a smooth-talking dealer, to restore his once-mighty roar. Rumpelstiltskin tricked Shrek into signing a pact. Unfortunately the plan resulted to an unexpected outcome. Shrek suddenly finds himself in a warped and realized that he’s in an alternate-universe of Far Far Away where “Shrek” never existed. In this new universe, ogres are hunted, Lord Farquaad is still alive, Donkey is an intellectual who has never met Shrek and spends his days pulling carts, Puss in Boots is fat and lazy, and Fiona is the leader of a bunch of hunting ogres. Now, Shrek holds responsible to unwrap all the damages that Rumpelstiltskin has caused, hoping that he could save his friends, restore his world, reclaim Fiona, and still have his happily ever after. Today April 22 is proclaimed as Earth Day. On April 22, 1970 first earth day was celebrated in the U.S. In Canada, Earth Day is also celebrated and this year they are celebrating their 20th century. About 60 million Canadians are expected to participate in Earth Day. This celebration is not only limited to U.S. and Canada, but it is celebrated all around the world. Gaylord Nelson was the founder of earth day. The main reason behind Earth Day was to protect mother earth by providing protection to its environment. The budget of $124,000 was allocated to this day and it had taken seven months for planning the celebration carefully. Student environmental activists play a very crucial role in it.
