The Bachelorette Recap: Who Made the Final Two?

If The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard felt that her decision to cut Chris loose after last week’s hometown dates was hard, this one was near impossible. Things got even more serious, emotional and dramatic in Curacao as Emily went on very romantic dates with Arie Luyendyk, Jr., Sean Lowe and Jef Holm. Three worthy candidates, only two roses in play. Who would she pick? And how would she handle the fantasy suite card situation, given that she’s a mom? Follow this link for all The Bachelorette spoilers we know about the July 22 finale, then continue on for THG’s +/- recap of the penultimate episode! Obligatory Curacao nature montage and recap of the final three guys and their “journey” with Emily so far. Minus 4 for the even-longer-than-average filler. Emily has nice penmanship, even in sand. Plus 2 . Sean’s shoes match his blue shirt perfectly. What guy does that? Apparently Sean Lowe, Ames Brown and Pauly D. Minus 5 , in spite of the obvious effort. Look at Sean, getting all flustered talking about his ex … and a little more unnerved trying to open up to Emily. Cute or a red flag? Hard to read. Even . Time’s running out to go there, Sean. Minus 10 . His letter to Ricki made it dusty in here. Plus 25 . Still holding something back, though. Just say it man. Go on. Okay, that kind of counts for redemption. Gotta love that the fantasy suite card is from Chris Harrison. Host-pimp sure knows how to take care of his ridiculously attractive employees. Plus 15 . Plus 20 for Emily calling it a night solo. Even after the hot tub makeout session no less. Girl’s priorities and commitment are pretty impressive. Minus 5 , because as awesome as Sean is, do they lack a spark? Is he too safe? Not exciting enough for Emily, who seems to like guys with an edge? Jef Holm has vaulted from dark horse to full-on frontrunner status. “I’m so happy with where our relationship is right now.” What more can Emily say? “I hope to be the second biggest part of Emily’s life.” – Jef. Smart guy. Plus 10 . There’s a level of communication here that transcends Sean’s. “The sun is setting here in Curacao, but for me and Emily, our whole life together is just beginning.” – Jef/ Bachelorette staff writers. Groan. Minus 5. Emily says she’d move to “wherever you are.” Woman certainly knows what she wants, and more and more, that appears to be Jef. Plus 9 . This is the most serious date in Bachelorette history. Why are you still single? Would Ricki like me? Not leaving anything on the table, are we? Jef quasi-rebuffs the Fantasy Suite invite before Emily can do it to him. Guy’s been playing hard to get from the get-go. Interesting tactic. Plus 7 . “There is a time and a place for everything, and now is the time to bridle these passions.” Very mature move, but who talks like that? Minus 14 . “My connection with Arie was literally almost immediate.” – Emily. That makes literally almost no sense, but we totally get it, so Minus only 3 . “We always want to kiss each other, and it feels great.” – Arie. Well put. Minus 7 . Swimming with the dolphins looks awesome. But not as much as kissing, which is all they seem to do. All of his “top moments” involve kissing. Hey, they’re both good at it. Who wouldn’t want to make out with either of them? So Plus 11 . Ah, but back to reality … what does Arie Luyendyk, Jr. do on a Tuesday morning?! No one knows! Minus 10 , because physical chemistry and dream dates will only carry you so far, even on The Bachelorette . Jef may have the edge as a result. Arie sleeps until 9 and goes out to dinner every night? Not exactly stepfather stuff … but he does seem legitimately interested in Ricki, so Plus 7 . Emily makes Arie feel like a natural man. Or something. Plus 3 ? He’s SO good looking … Emily won’t give him the fantasy suite card because she doesn’t trust herself! The Bachelorette: Mom Edition definitely lacks the sleaze factor of past seasons. Plus 25 , even if it’s sometimes less entertaining. Fireside chat with Chris/filler time. Minus 8 . To paraphrase Chris from like every episode … this could be one of the hardest decisions in Bachelorette history. She seems genuinely interested in all three guys and unsure of who she’ll send home. Break out the tissues early. But she’s got great clothes. Plus 2 . Sean goes all in on his video message at least. Will it be too little, too late against Jef and his usual eloquence, or Arie’s surprisingly moving profession of love? All of them collectively, combined with the circumstances, move her to tears. Plus 10 . Long speech. Longer pause. JEF. Even longer pause. ARIE. Poor Sean. That ranks among the saddest goodbyes in recent memory. Minus 20 . EPISODE TOTAL: +47. SEASON TOTAL: +171. Did Emily Maynard make the right call sending home Sean Lowe? Who do you think she should choose on The Bachelorette finale?

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez: Flying High!

Well, Justin Bieber has done it again. The 19-year old continued his push toward Boyfriend of the Year, a source tells People , by treating Selena Gomez to a special helicopter ride this weekend. With both halves of this couple in Toronto for tonight’s MuchMusic Video Awards, Bieber reportedly rented the vehicle yesterday and took Selena to Stratford, Ontario, home to North America’s largest classical repertory theater. The insider describes the trip by Bieber and Gomez as “a relaxing and romantic break from work” and said each was very “excited” by the unique means of transportation. In a recent Elle interview, Selena described Justin as awfully “romantic,” citing another gesture he made many months ago when he rented out a basketball arena for the pair to watch Titanic in. Yes, folks, rumors of a split were very premature.

Our names are Julia (15) and Pauline (14). We come from Germany….

Our names are Julia (15) and Pauline (14). We come from Germany. Now it’s the day after and we can’t believe it yet. It isn’t such a big experience then the others, but it’s big for us! June 6 2012, we went to watch Germany’s Next Top Model final show and Justin performed “Boyfriend”. It was awesome. We screamed the whole time, we were so nervous and lucky. The feeling was great with all these Beliebers. After the show, Justin gave an interview for the TV show “red!” and we ran away from our seats to be closer. It was Julia, me and 5 other Beliebers who tried to jump over this thing to run to the catwalk where Justin would give the interview. We know you can’t imagine it very well but please try to. Then a security guard came and stopped Julia as she was putting her foot over. Before the interview had begun, we saw Justin behind the stage and we screamed his name. We showed him our posters and he smiled. Then he waved at us and gave us a kiss with his hand. We were so happy, but then we saw Kenny! We all screamed his name, “KEEEENNNNY, KEEEENNY!” and he came to us. We talked with him, took photos and touched him.  There were so many people who filmed us, we were so loud and hysterical but, so what? We said, “Kenny please bring Justin to us, please bring him to us. ” I even said ‘please’ in German too. Haha. He said he will try but they haven’t got much time. It was incredible. When the interview was over, Kenny went over to Justin and they came directly to us! All of us were so nervous and crying. We were so happy. He gave us his hand and laughed the whole time. We touched his hand two times and it felt so wonderful. It was a nice hand but a little bit sweaty . But our hand was sweaty too. Haha. When everything was over, my dad  called me and I screamed & cried, “DAD! OMG! I TOUCHED JUSTIN’S HAND! AND PAULINE TOO! I’M SO LUCKY DAD! OMG! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!” All the girls around me screamed, “OMG SHE TOUCHED HIM!”. Thank you Kenny for getting Justin to come to us. Really thank you. But maybe he came because he saw us before the interview has begun, when he was behind the stage. Justin smiled the whole time, we couldn’t believe it. Since yesterday, we really truely know what ‘NEVER SAY NEVER’ means. All your dreams can come true. This was our dream! Last year in concert, our seat was in the last row and yesterday our face was directly in front of Justin’s. We will never ever give up and we will be Beliebers till the end. Thank you Kenny, thank you Justin. Hope you enjoyed your trip to Germany, we love you. -Julia and Pauline  Read more: Our names are Julia (15) and Pauline (14). We come from Germany….

My Name is Jacki, I’m 17 years old and I’m from…

My Name is Jacki, I’m 17 years old and I’m from Switzerland. For Justin, I drove from Switzerland to Germany. I thought I would only see him perform “Boyfriend” on stage, but then we saw a banister. The show I went to see was Germany’s Next Top Model . When the winner was taken, we climbed over this banister and ran to the stage. We were in the first row so nothing could stop us now. During the whole show we were scared, wondering when he would come out. We were running down and up to different seats. Then we got into little fights with people. Finally Justin came out and I screamed. I couldn’t believe that I saw Justin right next to me. He talked with a women for an interview. After this Interview, he came to US, all the Beliebers! Then he looked at me. I SCREAMED. He touched my hand and smiled big. He winked with his eye and just lipped the words, “I love you.” Then he went to the other Beliebers. I just wanted to cry. This was the best day of my life. Read the rest here: My Name is Jacki, I’m 17 years old and I’m from…

Hillary Clinton Without Makeup: Au Naturale!

Hillary Clinton made major headlines on her trip through Asia … not just for averting a massive diplomatic crisis, but for wearing no makeup! The Secretary of State finessed a delicate situation between the U.S. and China over a blind dissident, pressed India to reduce its oil imports from the rogue Iran, and deflected the persistent rumors that she will run for president in 2016. And finally … the 64-year-old (gasp) wore very little make-up, sported glasses and had un-coiffed hair during an official event in Bangladesh: “Hillary Au Naturale” has been scrutinized after photos of her wearing glasses, loose hair and nothing but a little bit of lipstick hit the Internet. Her response? To paraphrase Rihanna: F–ks? Not given . Clinton told CNN: “I feel so relieved to be at the stage I’m at in my life right now, because if I want to wear my glasses, I’m wearing my glasses.” “If I want to pull my hair back, I’m pulling my hair back.” In the 2008 primary race, there was much chatter about her short hair and pantsuits, even her use of scrunchies, an outdated hair tie that Carrie Bradshaw Sex and the City famously mocked … back when that show was still on. Hil likes ’em because they keep her hair back neatly and out of her face, though, and she’s too busy running the entire world to care. So step off. Going makeup free is a thing now anyways. We’ve seen AnnaLynne McCord, Demi Lovato and Lady Gaga without makeup . Clinton’s just trendy.

Adam Yauch’s Journey From Cancer Diagnosis To Rock Hall

Beastie Boys rapper kept his fans in the loop over the past three years since he was diagnosed. By John Mitchell The Beastie Boys’ Adam “MCA” Yauch Photo: Getty Images Adam Yauch, one of the founding members of the pioneering hip-hop trio the Beastie Boys, died Friday (May 4) at the age of 47 following a long battle with throat cancer. Yauch’s death has rattled the music world to its core, with tributes already pouring in from the likes of Justin Timberlake and Russell Simmons to fellow hip-hop pioneers Run-DMC. Since his 2009 cancer diagnosis, Yauch has stayed away from the public eye, often communicating with concerned fans through email, but during a period of remission, the Grammy-winning rapper stepped forward with his bandmates to release what would be his final album with the Beastie Boys, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, and even won an MTV Video Music Award for his direction of the Beasties’ “Make Some Noise” video. Though he fought his battle with cancer privately, Yauch, a practicing Buddhist, always maintained a tight connection with the Beasties’ fans and continued to work despite the difficult surgeries and treatments he faced. Below, we’ve taken a look back at the last few years of Yauch’s life to showcase the one-of-a-kind music legend’s perseverance in the face of such a difficult battle. July 20, 2009 : Yauch announced in a video posted to BeastieBoys.com that he’d been diagnosed with cancer of the parotid gland, a salivary gland in the throat. “The reason we’re here talking is because I have some pretty heavy news to say,” Yauch said in the video. “About two months ago, I started feeling this little lump in my throat, like what you would feel if you have swollen glands or something like that, and so I didn’t really think it was anything. … They did tests, and I actually have a form of cancer in the gland that’s over here, in the parotid gland, and it’s also in the lymph node right in that area.” Yauch had surgery to remove the tumor and began radiation that same week. Due to his treatment, the Beastie Boys were forced to cancel their summer touring plans, including headlining gigs at the All Points West Festival and Lollapalooza, in addition to delaying the release of their album Hot Sauce Committee: Part One. The album was finally released in May 2011 under the title Hot Sauce Committee Part Two with a slightly altered track list. August 5, 2009 : In an email to subscribers of the Beastie Boys’ newsletter with the subject line “What I did over my summer vacation,” Yauch provided fans with an update on his treatment , writing, “So I’m about a week-and-a-half out of surgery now and rapidly recovering from it. … My neck and jaw are still pretty stiff from the surgery, but it gets better every day. Had the stitches out this past Monday … so things are moving along.” October 7, 2009 : In another email to fans, Yauch wrote about his trip to Dharamsala, India, where he had traveled to see some Tibetan doctors and ended up attending a three-day seminar taught by Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama. “I’m feeling healthy, strong and hopeful that I’ve beaten this thing, but of course time will tell,” Yauch said in the letter. March 9, 2010 : Yauch attended the Independent Spirit Awards and told reporters that while his recovery had been difficult, he was ready to get back to work . “I feel better. It was touch-and-go there for a while, but I am finally getting my energy back,” Yauch said. “It was really disappointing to have to hold the record and postpone the tour, but doctor’s orders. We may or may not [release the album], depending on how my health is come September. We want to, but we have to play it by ear.” September 28, 2010 : The Beastie Boys receive their first nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. January 21, 2011 : “Fight for Your Right Revisited,” a short film directed by Yauch that picks up immediately after the events of the Beastie Boys’ classic “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)” video, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival . In the film, Elijah Wood plays Ad-Rock, Seth Rogen portrays Mike D and Danny McBride slips on Yauch’s classic leather jacket to become MCA. “Revisited” begins with the Beasties crawling out of the trashed apartment while the original ’87 tune plays in the background. They head down the stairs and immediately run into the parents of the kids whose party they crashed, played by Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci. April 20, 2011 : The video for “Make Some Noise,” the lead single from the Beastie Boys’ Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, debuted, marking the band’s first new musical release since Yauch’s cancer diagnosis. The clip was cut from Yauch’s “Fight for your Right Revisited” short film. May 3, 2011 : Hot Sauce Committee Part Two hits stores nearly two years after the initial planned release of the project. It’s still unclear which songs from the unreleased Part One made it onto the sequel. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard albums chart. July 20, 2011 : “Make Some Noise” scores MTV Video Music Award nominations for Video of the Year and Best Direction for Yauch. The nominations brought the Beastie Boys’ career total VMA noms to eight, which include a Video of the Year nod for the Beasties’ 1994 Spike Jonze-directed classic “Sabotage.” August 28, 2011 : Yauch wins the VMA for Best Direction for “Make Some Noise.” The win is the third for the group, which previously scored a 1999 VMA for Best Hip-Hop Video for “Intergalactic” and the Video Vanguard Award in 1998. December 17, 2011 : It is announced that the Beastie Boys will officially be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. April 14, 2012 : The Beastie Boys become the third hip-hop act inducted into the Rock Hall during a ceremony at the Cleveland, Ohio, museum. Though he was unable to attend the ceremony because he was receiving treatment for a recurrence of his cancer, his bandmates paid him a warm tribute and read a letter written by Yauch to the crowd. Fellow inductees the Red Hot Chili Peppers dedicated their performance at the ceremony to Yauch. Tune in to MTV tonight at 8 p.m. for “Adam Yauch: Remembering a Beastie Boy,” an hour-long special hosted by Sway celebrating the life and career of Adam “MCA” Yauch, including his biggest moments and remembrances from his friends and peers. Boobstagram is a Good Idea of the Day

I have always been a supporter of breast cancer campaigns because I love breasts and Breast Cancer is my enemy who tries to bring down the breast….a war my self-involved hatred of the world can get behind…because it affects me on a personal level and touches me at my core…..unlike pretty much all other charities….dying babies…who cares…famine, who cares….natural disasters, global warming, carbon emissions, high aids rates in developing countries….who cares….but titties…titties are important… So someone started up BOOBSTAGRAM which is supposed to be for girls to post their boobs for charity….and I’m kicking myself in the dick for nothing thinking of this on my own….I coulda changed the world…this was my big break…I suck at life….but luckily….like all great ideas I missed out on…someone beat me to it…and thus posts lots of tits….and that alone is amazing…even better that it is for a good cause to save tits….and you say I’m not a socially conscious philanthropic person…how dare you. On a sidenote this is way better than the failed campaign to get random guys to post pics of their prostates….random tits are far better than random prostates. Looking at titties for a good cause….
