MTV News staff argue for and against the ‘Pac-O-Gram on Wednesday’s ‘RapFix Live.’ By MTV News Staff, with reporting by Sway Calloway Tupac’s hologram at Coachella Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Not everyone is a ‘Pac-O-Gram fan. When late rap legend Tupac Shakur was resurrected Sunday night on the Coachella stage as a hologram, music lovers everywhere took notice. Most applauded the effort, but there were those who felt uneasy watching a reimagined Tupac prance across the stage. MTV News senior writer James Montgomery was quite skeptical of the whole display. “Who wouldn’t want to see Tupac or anyone on a tour? But just for me there were some things about it that kind of bothered me,” he said when he appeared on Wednesday’s “It didn’t seem really right to me.” From the beginning of the performance, Montgomery was rubbed the wrong way. “What the f— is up, Coachella,” the optically enhanced Tupac image screamed before “Hail Mary” played from the stage speakers. “Tupac died in 1996 and Coachella didn’t start until 1999, which means that someone basically had to record that dialogue for him, which is kind of troubling,” he said. “It’s basically putting words in the deceased’s mouth.” Rob Markman, senior hip-hop writer for MTV News, has the opposing view. He believes that the projected image of ‘Pac onstage isn’t much different from the big-screen video montages that rappers have used to honor Shakur and other fallen rappers like the Notorious B.I.G. and Big Pun during their own concerts. From Buzzworthy: ” In addition to the artistic possibilities, the business prospects are also sure to be appealing to some. “It raises these weird questions about artist legacy,” Montgomery said. “How long until you see every casino in Vegas get Elvis or Billie Holiday and they have these sort of quote, unquote live shows of these people?” “RapFix Live” host Sway Calloway noted that no matter which side of the debate you fall on, quality is the most important aspect of it — and the general consensus is that the Tupac hologram was done well. “Dr. Dre sanctioned it, Afeni Shakur OK’d it,” he said, referring to Tupac’s mother and onetime producer. “Bottom line: If it was poorly done and it was wack, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion.” Related Videos DJ Khaled And Juvenile Take Over ‘RapFix Live’ Related Photos Tupac’s Hologram At Coachella Related Artists Tupac

Known for her dirty mouth and extreme views, has Sarah Silverman finally gone too far? Some may believe so. The comedian sent out a Tweet over the weekend that included two photos and a caption. In the first image, she’s joined by boyfriend Alec Sulkin and a puffed out belly. In the second, her stomach has returned to its regular size and it’s accompanied by the words: “Got a quickie aborsh in cas R v W gets overturned.” Silverman posted the Tweet in response to Mitt Romney becoming the presumptive Republican nominee for President. He referred to Roe vs. Wade last January as “one of the darkest moments in Supreme Court history.” What do you think of Silverman’s actions? Funny and harmless? Or totally wrong and inappropriate? Did she cross a line?

Welcome to THG Asks, a feature in which two of THG’s celebrity gossip experts debate topical issues in the entertainment world and you decide who wrote the winning argument! Today, THG Asks : Is Tupac Shakur really dead? YES. By Hilton Hater Tupac Shakur once wondered, “I Wonder If Heaven’s Got a Ghetto.” And the truth, no matter how badly you want to believe otherwise, is that the iconic rapper now knows for certain. He’s gone. Deceased. Deader than Lindsay Lohan’s movie career. I know, I know: eight albums have been released since Tupac was shot in 1996. And that Tupac hologram at Coachella really did seem life-like. But no credible source has ever reported a Tupac sighting. University Medical Center, one of the most respected hospitals in the country, pronounced him dead six days after he was gunned down in Las Vegas. Why would those doctors lie? It can be hard to let go. But Life Goes On, Tupac once rapped to his fans. He’d want you to accept his fate, keep ya head up and be real to your women. Tupac Coachella Performance NO. By Free Britney The Notorious B.I.G.’s posthumous album was titled Life After Death . Many at Coachella feel they saw Biggie’s arch rival, Tupac Shakur, experience this over the weekend. It’s a great story … except 2Pac is not really dead. First off, Tupac’s “death” in 1996 was too perfectly orchestrated and replete with too many biblical and numerological references to be simply coincidental. The motives behind the fake murder are unclear – to avoid going to jail, or drum up sales for Death Row, or be reincarnated as Makaveli? – but the killing was staged. It also remains unsolved. How convenient. Second of all, the “hologram” of Tupac performing was 100 times more realistic than any hologram known to man. There’s no way that wasn’t a human being. Think about it. If you could make holograms that cool, why wouldn’t we see them in our daily lives, walking around left and right? It doesn’t make any sense. It does make for a media conspiracy. That “hologram” is just media telling us that it’s fake because he’s still the most wanted motherf–ker in America. THG Asks you … is Pac really dead?

Because what a bunch of people who have been eating Molly for three days straight really need is the vision of an ALLEGED dead person thrusting his crotch before them, a Tupac made of lights performed with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg at last night’s finale of Coachella’s first weekend. I need to book a flight to NYC fast! Tupac’s life and music is the inspiration behind a new musical that will begin casting soon in New York City. “Holler If Ya Hear Me,” a project being directed by Broadway director Kenny Leon , will feature the late rapper’s songs and is being described as an “American musical inspired by and featuring the music Tupac Shakur.”Leon previously discussed the project late in 2011. “A long time ago, maybe eight or nine years ago, I’ve been talking about that with Tupac’s mother, Afeni, and so we’ve become fans of each other and she sort of entrusted me with her son’s music” Leon said. “The idea was always to make a musical inspired by his music and not to do an autobiographical approach to his life or anything like that. And because I always thought that Tupac was a prophet and I thought if everybody could hear his words and hear his stories, they would see what I see.”
