Finally, the Real Reason That Ryan O’Neal Left Dancing with the Stars

Some of us were too excited about Ryan O’N eal competing on Dancing With the Stars , reenacting Love Story scenes using elements of jive, and wowing Bruno Tonioli with those ageless baby blues (browns?). Unfortunately, Mr. O’N eal claimed injury and dropped out of the show, and now Nancy Grace only has to out-hoof 11 other couples instead of 12. Boo. But a new report details a much different reason for O’N eal’s departure, and it may force us to give the Tatum-flrting actor a bit of credit.

Letter From Toronto: Descendants Overloaded with Calculation; Take Shelter Overloaded with Michael Shannon

Alexander Payne’s The Descendants has just about everything you need for a male midlife-crisis movie, and more: A big plot of unspoiled family land about to be sold off to developers, sullen teenagers, a wife in a coma. Payne, in his first full-length feature since the 2004 Sideways , pulls out all the stops, including casting George Clooney, an actor who’s aging beautifully but who nonetheless, thankfully, has allowed himself to look his age.

No, Matt Damon Will Not Show Up in Jeremy Renner’s The Bourne Legacy

“No, I have no idea about any of it. All I know is that it doesn’t preclude Paul [Greengrass] and me from doing another one of ours,” original Bourne series star Matt Damon teased recently when asked if he’d show up to pass the torch to Jeremy Renner in Tony Gilroy’s 2012 sequel The Bourne Legacy . Cheeky as that answer is, Damon was quick to play nice anyhow. “He’s got a whole other thing that they’re doing and I wish them well,” he added, “and Tony [Gilroy’s] really smart. I’m sure they’re going to be great.” So, no hard feelings. Really . [ MTV ]

Happy 45th Birthday, Adam Sandler! What’s His Finest Onscreen Moment?

Forty-five years ago today, a baby boy named Adam Richard Sandler was born to an electrical engineer and a nursery school teacher in Brooklyn. After breaking big on Saturday Night Live at the age of 24, Sandler would go on to become one of the most successful actor-comedians of our generation and an even more successful movie producer. In spite of the scathing reviews that his films generate, we still love him as an entertainer, laugh maker and occasionally dramatic actor. So gather around the cake, sing-squawk a few off-key bars of “Happy Birthday” and let’s name Sandler’s finest onscreen moment.
