A woman named Liz Bertorelli has gone viral for overcoming a legitimate personal crisis this month: She dropped her iPhone out her apartment window and watched helplessly as it lay on her neighbor's balcony… for days. Why was she unable to retrieve it? Why couldn't her neighbors simply help out? How did she put one foot in front of the other and go on with her life following such a traumatic event? Thankfully, Liz Tweeted a majority of this harrowing tale in real time. Scroll down for a story of tragedy and then eventual triumph… 1. What Did I Do?!? Follow-up question: What do I do now?!? 2. Phew. It Will Be Okay Now, Right? They’ll see the note and contact me and this nightmare will be over soon… 3. NOOOOOO! And what will happen to the phone if it rains?!? 4. I’m Batman Or I will be if need be. 5. I Did Watch MagGyver One Time Maybe I can do this. 6. No. Have you ever seen Romeo and Juliet? View Slideshow
This week must have been unspeakably difficult for Jason Aldean. He was, of course, the performer on stage at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas when a man decided to open fire on the crowd, killing over 50 people and wounding over 500 . When the gunshots began, he rushed offstage, and he reported soon after that he and his crew were safe, but obviously heartbroken about what had happened. But as traumatized as he must be, he still managed to make an appearance on last night's episode of Saturday Night Live. This week, Jason did the show's cold open, and instead of the usual skit, he spoke directly to the audience and the cameras. “This week, we witnessed one of the worst tragedies in American history,” he began. “Like everyone, I'm struggling to understand what happened that night, and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal.” “So many people are hurting. They're our children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends — they're all part of our family.” “So I want to say to them, we hurt for you, we hurt with you,” he continued. “We can be sure that we're gonna walk through these tough times together, every step of the way.” Because, Jason said, “When America is at its best, our bond and our spirit, it's unbreakable.” And then, because his statement wasn't touching enough, he launched into a song. The song he decided to play? “I Won't Back Down,” the incredibly fitting song by the late, great Tom Petty , whose death made this week even tougher than it already was. Watch Jason's full speech and performance in the video below:
Just when you thought 2017 couldn’t get more eventful for Aaron Carter … Wishful thinking, huh? Throughout this year — specifically these past few months — Aaron has seemed to be on a terrifying downward spiral. So terrifying that when he made an appearance on The Doctors last month, those doctors advised him that if he didn’t go to rehab to get his drug use sorted , he’d die. His problems began (or at least we learned of the severity of his problems) in July, when he was arrested for a DUI and drug possession . He and his then-girlfriend, Madison Parker, had marijuana on them, and he was seen driving erratically, though he did refuse testing at the time of his arrest. After that, he felt the need to defend himself against what he said were false accusations, which resulted in an extremely emotional interview in which he revealed he suffers from an eating disorder and hates his appearance. Then in September, he was visited by police four times in less than two days. The visits were for welfare checks, as people close to Aaron had called in to report that he may be a danger to himself or others . A couple of weeks later, police were called to his home again, and though we never heard many details on that visit, it seems to have been yet another welfare check. Luckily, something seemed to click then for Aaron — after that, he went off to rehab . In a series of tweets he made just before checking in for treatment, he explained that “this year has been crazy and I need some time off from it all.” “Going to get strong,” he wrote, “and deal with my stress conditions and get better.” He said that he’d be gone for “a while,” and that he didn’t plan on returning to social media until 2018 at the earliest. But he’s baaaaaaack! Yep, after just two weeks of treatment, Aaron is back at home. And though that may be a little concerning — two weeks doesn’t sound like nearly long enough to address whatever it was that was troubling him — at least one good thing has come from his short time away. Check out this transformation: For the past few years, Aaron has gotten a whole lot of hate for his appearance . He was very thin, and lots of people speculated that his size was due to drug use. He’s insisted that he’s thin because of a hiatal hernia that makes it difficult to eat, in addition to that eating disorder we already discussed. But now he says he’s gone “from 115 to 145 in just three weeks” because he “needed some time to heal.” He gained 30 pounds in three weeks, and he seems pretty pleased about it! “Thank you to everyone who has continued to believe in me and stick by my side,” he tweeted after sharing the photo. “I will always aim to make you proud but this was for me.” It also looks like he got his appetite back — he shared this photo of himself and asked “What’s for dinner? I’ll make both”: As for his abrupt departure from rehab, his rep made a statement explaining that “Several legal and personal matters arose that required his immediate in person attention.” “He is still very much committed to his wellness and will be continually working toward being the best possible person.” We hope for his sake that that’s the case. After the year he’s had, Aaron Carter sure could use a win. View Slideshow: 25 Celebrities Who Have Been to Rehab
Time has not been kind to Nelly. And, if we’re to believe recent accusations against him, Nelly has not been kind to others in return. Early yesterday morning, he was arrested for allegedly raping a woman on his tour bus . He’s currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line, and the arrest happened a few hours after a show in Washington on Friday night. According to a statement from local police, a woman called 911 at nearly 4:00 AM and reported that Nelly had sexually assaulted her. After officers arrived on the scene and did some investigating, there was apparently enough evidence to make an arrest, and Nelly was taken into custody. There wasn’t enough evidence to hold him though, and a few hours later he was released. His lawyer then made a statement saying that “Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation.” “Our initial investigation,” he explained, “clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness.” “I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges.” The lawyer added that “Nelly is prepared to pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.” So far it’s obviously a pretty serious case of he-said, she-said, right? But now Nelly is speaking on his own behalf. Shortly after the news broke of his arrest, he hopped on Twitter to defend himself. “Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation,” he began. “I am completely innocent.” “I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.” “I do want to apologize to my loved ones for the embarrassment and for putting myself in a situation where I could be victimized by this false and defaming allegation,” he wrote. Nelly also thought it was important “to thank my fans for their unwavering support.” “They know me,” he said. “I assure you I will be vindicated. And I assure you, I will pursue every legal option to address this defaming claim.” “Thank you.” And just in case you didn’t follow that statement his lawyer wrote for him, he added “In other words y’all know damm well I ain’t do no dumm S^*t like this..!! Love ..!!!!” About an hour after making those tweets, he logged back on to clear up an extra bit of confusion. “To be absolutely clear,” he wrote, “I have not been charged with a crime therefore no bail was required. I was released, pending further investigation.” At this point, it’s hard to say who’s telling the truth. Nelly and his team could be right, this woman could have made up this whole story. But then again, Nelly could be doing his best to cover up his crimes — let’s be real, it’s not exactly unprecedented for a celebrity to use his fame as a way to prey on women like this. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out. View Slideshow: 21 Most Memorable Celebrity Mug Shots of All-Time
Criticizing Hillary Clinton has been a regular pastime for a large swathe of America for the past two or three decades, and that doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. Not even following the horrific Mandalay Bay massacre in Las Vegas that killed 58 and injured more than 500. Critics claim that Hillary’s tweet following the massacre was overly political and displayed “ignorance” of firearms. Did it? Those who were still up on Sunday night and those waking up to terrible news on Monday morning expressed their reactions to the absolute horror of the shooting in Las Vegas. Everyone on Twitter, from big-name celebrities to friends to coworkers to that one guest star you thirst-followed three years ago, was speaking out. Those who couldn’t find the words themselves retweeted those who could. Hillary Clinton, the 2016 candidate preferred by the majority of American voters and regarded by many as America’s monarch-in-exile, tweeted appropriately. “Las Vegas, we are grieving with you — the victims, those who lost loved ones, the responders, & all affected by this cold-blooded massacre.” We all saw the horrifying videos and heard the unmistakable sounds of gunfire. Hillary did, too, and followed up her tweet with this: “The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.” We’ll talk about that bill, don’t you worry. “Our grief isn’t enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.” Obviously, this was the cue to everyone who’s ever read a Cracked article to try to make themselves sound like an expert on firearms. Hillary was referring to H.R.367, the almost absurdly named Hearing Protection Act of 2017. Despite it’s name, it’s not a proposed law about noise pollution or public nuisances or hearing aids. It’s an NRA-backed bill that would make it easier to get silencers for guns by removing restrictions on silencers so that they are regulated just like regular ol’ guns. As you may have guessed, Hillary’s critics mocked her by pointing out that silencers don’t actually make guns silent; they just muffle the noise somewhat. An NRA spokeswoman tweeted: “Suppressors only reduce by a few decibels, still same decibel level as a jack hammer.” A radio host tweeted: “Appallingly stupid, and entirely irrelevant, Mrs Clinton She knows nothing about firearms, and even worse, she doesn’t care.” Though Hillary’s tweet doesn’t immediately convey whether or not she’s aware that silencers do not make guns literally silent, let’s remember two things: One, Hillary Clinton is an almost frighteningly intelligent person. That’s based on basically every interaction that she’s ever had. Two, if gunshots are quieter, even just a little bit, that means that fewer people will be aware of them. Have you ever been to a concert? There are absolutely concerts at which “a few decibels” could make the difference between a gunshot being audible and it going unnoticed save to those who get shot. Countless public voices have called out for the US to actually, for once, do something to prevent future mass shootings. Ariana Grande called for gun control , and she is obviously no stranger to terrorist attacks at concerts. Politicians who rely upon NRA endorsements and funding continue to turn a blind eye to common-sense solutions that have been proven to work in other countries — most notably in Australia. There are those who characterize the NRA as the greatest ally of domestic terrorists. At this point, that is getting harder and harder to dispute. But it’s much easier for the pro-gun lobby to criticize people calling for common sense gun regulations than it is for them to explain why, exactly, massacres in which hundreds and hundreds of people are hospitalized are becoming a staple of American existence. Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty Via | HipHopDX TWITTER – In light of Donald Trump’s incendiary comments about former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick , many NFL players chose to kneel or sit during the National Anthem on Sunday (September 24). The NFL’s suspected blackballing of Kaepernick due to his protest has also inspired many fans, including J. Cole , to boycott the league. The Dreamville founder expounded on the boycott in a series of tweets. “God bless every player that finds courage to kneel today,” Cole wrote. “But the real power comes from you deciding to not watch. Your eyes translate to advertising money for the League and it’s owners. Finish this story [ here ]
