I’m going to jump out the window and say it, Aquaman is one of the best movies from the Warner Bros DC Universe in a very long time, but during my conversation with Amber Heard, I think I might make a plate for her to take out from our hypothetical cookout. She shook her head at the BBQ Becky’s of the world, reads books about White Fragility and she’s one hell of a Princess Mera in Aquaman. Amber explains why we see so much more negativity but points out a change is coming, “I think it’s easy to see how much people aren’t doing because we have such a heightened awareness and ability to see and connect and share with the rapid acceleration with the access to social media through our phones and an increased connectedness with that,” Amber says. She also says that same connectedness which is making us more aware of the unjust things happening in the world it’s also changing the world at the same time. “There are negative things happening in this world at rapid speeds but there is so many good things happening. There is so much positive change happening but what’s really inspiring and encouraging is knowing where it came from.” Amber explains the change it’s coming from the ground up, young people and boots on the ground.” Check out my interview with the cast of Aquaman and go see this new movie when it hits theaters at midnight. Source: Patrick Harbron / Patrick Harbron/Netflix Talk about a surprise in terms of Netflix news. After letting Luke Cage go along with Iron Fist , the streaming service announced late Thursday that they were cancelling Daredevil , the longest running Marvel series on Netflix. The show had just completed its third season. “Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix,” the company said, per Deadline . “We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.” With Daredevil ‘s cancellation, there is only two shows under the Marvel umbrella on Netflix: The Punisher and Jessica Jones . There’s no word on whether or not Daredevil will return on Disney’s streaming service when it launches. “Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season,” Marvel and Netflix said in a statement at the time of the announcement. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.” RELATED: Kingpin Back: Trailer For ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Drops RELATED: ‘Luke Cage’ Canceled At Netflix RELATED: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Remembers Stan Lee: “There Will Never Be Another”
Stan Lee, arguably the best known comic book creator of all-time, passed away Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 95 years old. Lee’s daughter confirmed this very sad piece of news to TMZ. The website writes that Lee was rushed from his home in Hollywood Hills to the aforementioned facility, although it’s unclear at this time what medical condition prompted the emergency. The legendary writer, however, had suffered numerous illnesses over the last year or so, including a semi-recent bout of pneumonia and a number of vision issues. He had receded from the public eye for most of 2018 as a result. Lee started out in the comic business back in 1939. Along with Jack Kirby, he co-founded Marvel in 1961 via the introduction of The Fantastic Four. He went on to create Spider-Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Iron Man and The Avengers, among many other notable, memorable and beloved characters. Lee was always revered in the comic book universe, but he became a true pop culture icon about a decade ago after the success of the first Iron Man movie. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has basically taken over the movie world in that time and Lee has made a cameo in every Marvel film to date. In 2009, the Walt Disney Co. bought Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion. Three years later, The Avengers grossed $1.52 billion worldwide take and two years after that, Lee acknowledged his important role not just in the entertainment industry — but in the world as a whole. “I used to think what I did was not very important,” he told the Chicago Tribune in April of 2014, adding at the time: “People are building bridges and engaging in medical research, and here I was doing stories about fictional people who do extraordinary, crazy things and wear costumes. “But I suppose I have come to realize that entertainment is not easily dismissed.” A native of Manhattan, Lee wrote, art-directed and edited most of Marvel’s series and newspaper strips. He also wrote a monthly comics’ column, “Stan’s Soapbox,” signing off with his signature phrase, “Excelsior!” Lee played a vital role as Marvel transitioned into TV during the 1980s, serving as narrator on animated series like Incredible Hulk and X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men, and executive producing the 1990s animated series Spider-Man. In 2002, Lee published an autobiography, Excelsior! The Amazing Life of Stan Lee . Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse will be the next installment of the Marvel film franchise and will be released next month; it’s very safe to assume there will be a dedication to Lee in the credits. The writer’s survivors include a daughter, J.C., and younger brother, Larry Lieber, who works as a writer and artist for Marvel. Another daughter, Jan, died in infancy. Lee’s wife, Joan, was a hat model whom he married in 1947. She passed away last year. Said J.C. to TMZ shortly after confirming her dad’s death: “My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man.” May he rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2018: In Memoriam
Meghan Markle has just given the universe another reason to get excited. Days after the Duchess of Sussex and her handsome husband confirmed the amazing news that they’re expecting a child , Markle touched on the follow-up topic that has taken over social media. What will she and Harry name their impending bundle of joy? Will he or she receive a typically British or Royal moniker? Might the little one be named after a character on Suits, the USA Network legal drama that propeled Markle to fame? Could she and Harry surprise followers and go way outside the box somehow? During a top in Melbourne, Australia – for the third day of activities on the couple’s royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga – Markle addressed this pressing issue. When a 12-year-old named Charlie Wolf asked the Duchess if she’d picked out a name for the couple’s baby-to-be, Meghan did not come right out and reveal her and Harry’s decision. But she did say it’s a constant topic of conversation. Both between herself and her husband… and basically everyone else in the free world. “We’ve been given a long list of names from everyone,” Markle replied. We’re going to sit down and have a look at them.” She further noted that it was still very early and they hadn’t settled on anything. That’s fair, we suppose. Sources have claimed that Markle is not due to give birth until early May . She’s about 15 weeks along and doing “well,” these same sources have told the press. At a different point during this visit, the Suits alum opened up about how she spends her free time “relaxing and watching TV shows.” But when pressed for a favorite series, the retired actress noted demurred, simply responding: “There’s heaps, I can’t think of a specific one.” She’ll have plenty of time in the near future to sort through them all, too, once she gets a little too tired to travel and just props her feet up, awaiting the whole motherhood thing. “Harry is elated and beside himself,” a an tells Us Weekly. “Meghan is feeling amazing. She’s in great health so far.” Kate Middleton and Prince William, meanwhile, are on record as sayign they are “delighted” about the pregnancy, while even Meghan’s evil half-sister sounds pretty psyched about it. “I want Meghan to be happy… and have peace. Everybody needs to be positive,” says typically-negative Samantha Markle , adding: “I hope my dad is included and at a proper time. If he is excluded, I won’t be happy. It is in the best interests of the baby for my dad to be included.” We continue to send our best wishes to Harry and Meghan. This is all SO exciting! Source: Pool / Getty K anye West delivered the rant heard ’round the world on Thursday, when he visited his leader Donald Trump in the White House. The meeting was billed as being about criminal justice reform in Chicago, seeing as Kanye’s hometown made a cameo appearance this week in the president’s speech to the nation’s police chiefs about the unconstitutional practice of stop-and-frisk. However, once Kanye was given the floor of the Oval Office, he took it and ran [amok] with it, mostly speaking inaccurately on everything from that revolting MAGA hat to the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery. Read the full text of Kanye’s latest rant below, courtesy of a transcription from New York magazine’s Vulture: “Here we have Larry Hoover’s lawyer with us today and it’s a prisoner that we’re focused on. He has six life sentences and they have him next to the unibomber doing 23 and 1 … Really the reason why they imprisoned [Larry Hoover] is because he started doing positive for the community. He started showing that he actually had power, he wasn’t just one of a monolithic voice but he could wrap people around, so there’s theories that there’s infinite amounts of universe, and there’s alternate universe, so it’s very important for me to get Hoover out because in an alternate universe, I am him. And I have to go and get him free because he was doing positive inside of Chicago, just like how I’m moving back to Chicago and it’s not just about, you know, getting on stage and being an entertainer, and having a monolithic voice that’s forced to be a specific party. “You know, people expect that if you’re black you have to be Democrat. I have conversations that basically said that welfare is the reason why a lot of black people end up being Democrat they say – you know first of all, it’s a limit to amount of jobs, so the fathers lose the job and they say, ‘We’ll give you more money for having more kids in your home.’ And then we got rid of the mental health institutes in the 80s and the 90s and the prison rates just shot up. And now you have Chiraq, what people call Chiraq, which actually, our murder rate is going down by 20 per cent every year. I just talked to the superintendent, met with Michael Sacks, that’s Ron’s right hand man. So, I think it’s the bravery that helps you beat this game called life. You know they tried to scare me to not wear this hat, my own friends, but this hat, it gives me power in a way. “You know, my dad and my mom separated, so I didn’t have a lot of male energy in my home. And also I’m married now into a family that, you know, not a lot of male energy going on, it’s beautiful though. But there’s times where, you know, it’s something about, I love Hillary, I love everyone, right, but the campaign “I’m With Her” just didn’t make me feel as a guy that didn’t get to see my dad all the time, like a guy that could play catch with his son. It was something about when I put this hat on, it made me feel like Superman. You made us Superman, that’s my favorite superhero, and you made a Superman cape for me. “Also as a guy that looks up to you, looks up to Ralph Lauren, looks up to American industry guys. Non-political, no bullshit [looks at media members] – put the beep on it, however you want to do it, five seconds delay – and just goes in and gets it done. Right now, you gave me the heart to go to Adidas. When I went in, in 2015, we were a $14 billion company losing $2 billion a year. Now, we have $38 billion market cap. It’s called “The Yeezy Effect.” And went and I said, “You have to bring manufacturing on-shore. Not even on-shore, into the core. It’s not about the borders. The core of Adidas, and Chicago, is the core of middle America, and we have to make middle America strong. “So, I had the balls, because I have enough balls to put on this hat. I mean, this Adidas thing made me a billionaire. And I could have lost $200 million walking away from that deal. But even with that, I knew it was more important for me to take the chance of walking away from that deal, than to have no fathers in Chicago, with no homes. And when we do have prison reformation, not rehabilitation, because they didn’t have the abilities in the first place. We never had anyone who taught us, they didn’t teach us. Then any specific deal, anything, that we bring jobs into America. And that we provide a transition with mental health and the AmeriCan education curriculum that Jim has worked on. Larry Hoover also has a curriculum that he’s worked on. We have Montessori curriculums that we worked on. WeWorks has beautiful curriculum. The Waldorf establishment has a curriculum. We have meditation. “There’s a lot of things affecting our mental health that makes us do crazy things, that puts us back into that trap door that’s called the 13th Amendment. I did say, “abolish,” with the hat on, because why would you keep something around that’s a trap door. If you building a floor, the constitution is the base of our industry, of our country, of our company. Would you build a trap door that if you mess up and accidentally something happens, you fall and you end up next to the Uni-bomber, you gotta remove all that trapdoor out of the relationship. The four gentleman that wrote the 13th Amendment, and I think the way the universe works is perfect, we don’t have 13 floors, do we? You know, the four gentleman that wrote the 13th amendment didn’t look like the people they were amending. Also, at that point, it was illegal for blacks to read, or African Americans, to read. So, that meant if you actually read the Amendment, you’d get locked up! And turned into a slave. Again, so what I think is, we don’t need sentences, we need pardons. We need to talk to people. “I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I was connected with a neuropsychologist that works with the athletes in the NBA and NFL. He looked at my brain, it’s equal on three parts. I’m gonna go ahead, drop some bombs for you. 98 percentile IQ test, I had a 75 percentile of all human beings when it was counting eight numbers backwards, so I’m gonna work on that one. The other ones, 98 percent, Tesla, Freud. So, he said that I actually wasn’t bipolar, I had sleep deprivation, which could cause dementia 10-20 years from now, where I wouldn’t even remember my son’s name. So, all this power that I’ve got, and I’m taking my son to the Sox game and all that, I wouldn’t be able to remember his name, from a misdiagnosis. What we need is, we can empower the pharmaceuticals and make more money. That’s one thing, I’ve never stepped into a situation where I didn’t make people more money. So, we can empower pharmaceuticals, we can empower our industries, we can empower our factories, we can bring, not only Adidas on shore, we could bring Foxconn and set up a factory in, I think, Minnesota [corrected by Trump that it’s Wisconsin]. “Yeah, Wisconsin. They have 4,000 jobs, people making 53,000 a year. And one of the things we gotta set is, Ford to have the highest designs. The dopest cars. The most amazing. I don’t really say, “dope,” I don’t say negative words and try to flip ‘em. We just say positive, lovely, divine, universal words. So, the flyest, freshest, most amazing car. And what we start with, is – I brought a GIF with me right here. [Scrolls through iPhone to show Trump.] This right here is the iPlane 1. It’s a hydrogen powered airplane, and this is what our president should be flying in. We’re gonna have Apple, an American company, work on this plane. “What I need Saturday Night Live to improve on, or what I need the liberals to improve on is, if he don’t look good [pointing to Trump], we don’t look good. This is our President. He has to be the freshest, the flyest, the flyest planes, the best factories. And we have to make our core be empowered. We have to bring jobs into America, because our best export is entertainment and ideas. But when we make everything in China and not America, then we’re cheating on our country, and we’re putting people in positions to have to do illegal things to end up in the cheapest factory every, the prison system.” SEE ALSO: Kanye West ‘Can’t Say’ If Abraham Lincoln Was Black Or White Snoop Dogg Rips Into Kanye For Loving Trump: ‘F**k You!’ [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3831284″ overlay=”true”]
Folks, no matter where you fall on the political spectrum, it’s been a difficult few weeks news-wise. And now, we might all be forced to endure another public spectacle that no one asked for or expected … We’re talking, of course, about a Josh Duggar comeback. Yes, if you’re a Duggar aficionado you might have noticed a lot more Josh in your life lately. And, like everything else the Duggars do, that’s 100 percent by design. For years, there have been rumors of Jim Bob and Michelle helping their son to return to public life, and now it seems it’s actually happening. Perhaps they’ve been emboldened by the current political climate, or perhaps they simply feel enough time has passed that fans will have forgotten the severity of Josh’s sex crimes . Whatever the case, the effort to rebuild Josh’s public image and welcome him back into the Duggar media empire has begun in earnest. It started with Josh appearing in several Duggar Facebook posts back in September. It continued as Josh and Anna celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their engagement this month — as though that’s actually something people celebrate. Those festivities prompted rumors that Josh and Anna’s marriage is a sham , as Anna appeared undeniably miserable in all of the accompanying pics. So that was an unexpected bump in the road of Josh’s recovery, but Jim Bob is every bit the PR genius that Kris Jenner is, so he was well-prepared for the inevitable rumors that Josh and Anna are headed for divorce . As In Touch Weekly reports, longtime Duggar family friend Josie Bates married Kelton Balka this week . The Bates are reality “stars” in their own right (though not nearly as famous as the Duggars), so this qualified as a public event. And that makes it the first time Josh and Anna have attended a non-family related public event since he was embroiled in multiple consecutive sex scandals back in 2015. So you can bet it won’t be long before Josh starts making appearances on Counting On again. Will Duggar fans turn their backs on the family in protest? We’d like to think so, but something tells us that won’t be the case. View Slideshow: Josh and Anna Duggar Celebrate Ten-Year Anniversary, Continue to Make Fans Nauseous
Years ago, Taylor Swift released an album titled “Red.” Nevertheless, this beloved solo artist stunned the universe this week when she made her political opinion known for the first time in her professional life, revealing herself to be… … a democrat! Or at least to be supporting a pair of democrats in her home state of Tennessee: Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives. Cooper is running against Marsha Blackburn, who Swift wrote on Instagram has a voting record in Congress that “appalls and terrifies me,” explaining thusly: “She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. “She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. “These are not MY Tennessee values.” Asked about these comments on the White House lawn on Monday afternoon, President Trump said, sort of humorously: “Let’s say that I like Taylor’s music about 25 percent less now.” He added more specifically: “Marsha Blackburn is doing a very good job in Tennessee. She’s leading now substantially which she should. “She’s a tremendous woman. I’m sure Taylor Swift doesn’t know anything about her.” Swift actually outlined her take in a very detailed, calm and fair manner. But she's been pilloried by republicans nevertheless, of course. They apparently think Kanye West is a well-educated political guru who should be listened to and respected when it comes to his opinion… … but Swift is a vapid moron whose viewpoint she be scoffed at, naturally. “So @taylorswift13 has every right to be political but it won’t impact election unless we allow 13 yr old girls to vote,” Mike Huckabee tweeted for instance. “Still with #MarshaBlackburn.” Okay, but — who wants to do the math for the former Governor and explain to him how old Taylor Swift fans who started following her after the release of her first album in 2006 are now? WATCH TRUMP'S RESPONSE TO SWIFT IN THE VIDEO FEATURED HERE.

A fter spending nearly three decades behind bars for a crime that he didn’t commit, a Brooklyn native is turning the pain from his experience into something positive. John Bunn , 41, is advocating for education in prisons and launched a program that provides inmates with books, CNN reported. John Bunn was wrongfully convicted of murder as a teenager and exonerated after 27 years of fighting for his freedom. He says the power of reading saved him. Now, he's building libraries in prisons. https://t.co/Xt7iFmbIGI pic.twitter.com/zdjnFVXQaA — CNN (@CNN) September 15, 2018 In August of 1991—when Bunn was 14-years-old—police officers came to his Crown Heights apartment and took him to the 77th precinct for questioning in relation to the murder of a Rikers Island corrections officer, the news outlet writes. Although Bunn told officers that he had nothing to do with the crime, he was put in a line up with adults, wrongly identified as the individual responsible for the murder, and placed behind bars. He was charged with murder and robbery and sentenced to nine years to life. From that day on, he and his family tirelessly fought for justice. Going to prison was a tough journey for Bunn. He reportedly dealt with abusive guards who he claims attacked him because of the nature of his case. He developed depression and anxiety. Bunn struggled to communicate with his family while he was imprisoned because he was illiterate. That barrier motivated him to learn how to read and write. He started reading children’s books and dictionaries and worked with teachers to develop his skills. That experience fueled his passion for education and he then went on to get his GED in prison. Reading became an escape from his situation. “I wrote my mother one day … and I said, “They can lock my body, but they can’t trap my mind,” he told CNN. “The power of reading made me feel that way. I felt trapped without a voice for so long, but the power of reading could take my imagination, and take me to anywhere in this universe.” In May 2018—with the help of a non-profit called the Exoneration Initiative—he was exonerated. Shortly after being released from prison, Bunn launched his own non-profit called A Voice 4 The Unheard. Through the organization, he’s focusing on growing the libraries at Riker’s Island and putting literature into underserved schools. His organization has donated over 20,000 books. “There’s no greater feeling than me feeling like I’m existing for a purpose, and this is what gives my life purpose right now. Through my nightmare, I found my dream,” he said. Organization’s like Bunn’s are needed. According to the Literacy Project Foundation , three out of five people in U.S. prisons have trouble reading.
