#OpKKK: Five Mayors Deny Racist Klan Membership After Anonymous Releases Names Online

Five Mayors Deny Racist Klan Membership After Anonymous Releases Names 5 mayors from all over the US who have been accused of being associated with the Ku Klux Klan by hacktivists affiliated with “Anonymous” have taken to social media to deny the charges according to Raw Story . “I am opposed to everything the KKK stands for. I have no idea where this information came from, but wherever it came from, it is wrong,” Lexington, Kentucky Mayor Jim Gray wrote on Twitter. On Monday morning, Anonymous began to release the names of 1,000 people who the group accuses of being members of the KKK. Other officials named in the document dump have begun to deny the charges including Mayor Paul Fraim, the Democratic mayor of Norfolk, Virginia. “People have been spreading a report from the Internet that I am involved with the KKK. This report is a hoax and is absolutely false,” Fraim said on Facebook. Mayor Madeline Rogero (D) of Knoxville, Tennessee also denied the allegations. “I’m not even sure this is worth responding to, but for the record: There is a list circulating online purporting to “out” elected officials as members of the KKK. For reasons unfathomable to me or anyone who knows me, my name is on the list. Given my background, my interracial family, my public record and my personal beliefs, this would be hilarious except that it is probably being seen by a lot of people who have no idea who I am,” Rogero wrote on Facebook. “So, just to be clear, for anyone who doesn’t know me: Don’t be ridiculous,” the mayor continued. “I began my political career working for the rights of farm workers with Cesar Chavez. I have spent decades working for causes of social justice and equality. As Mayor, I have pushed for diversity in our workforce and outreach to and inclusion of people of all backgrounds in our community. In concert with President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper program, I began the Save Our Sons initiative to increase opportunities and reduce violence-related deaths among boys and young men of color. I have advocated publicly for LGBT civil rights, and I was the only mayor in Tennessee to sign onto the mayors’ amicus brief for the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court’s marriage equality case. In short, I don’t think the KKK would want anything to do with me.” “I strongly request that anyone associated with the creation and dissemination of this false and defamatory accusation retract it immediately,” Rogero wrote. “It is irresponsible and slanderous. (Although, on a positive note, I do appreciate that they are using a picture of me from 12 years ago. Very flattering!)” Fort Wayne, Indiana Mayor Tom Henry denied the accusations as well. “Claims that I have ties to the KKK are totally false and irresponsible,” Henry wrote on Twitter. “Our City celebrates and appreciates diversity and acceptance. Racism has no place in our society and my life.” Do you believe the mayors or nah??

SAE Strikes Again: Yale Chapter Of Frat Had “White Girls Only” Party Policy

Yale Chapter Of Frat With Troubled Past Accused Of “White Girls” Only Party Anybody surprised to see SAE back in the headline s again? Via NY Post reports : A Yale fraternity instituted a “white girls only” policy at a weekend rager, a student at the Ivy League university is charging on social media. “I’d just like to take a moment to give a shoutout to the member of Yale’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter who turned away a group of girls from their party last night, explaining that admittance was on a ‘White Girls Only’ basis,” sophomore Neema Githere posted to Facebook on Saturday. The post prompted several comments from other students, alleging that the same Yale fraternity had racially discriminated against them as well. Yale SAE members, including chapter president Grant Mueller, denied the accusations. “Obviously I was shocked and flabbergasted [at the idea] that anyone in SAE would even have these words come from their mouths,” Mueller told the Yale Daily News. “It’s just kind of upsetting for me because we try to be so incredibly accepting and take pride in our diversity.” Mueller said he reached out to two Yale deans, and plans to address the allegations during a forum at the Afro-American Cultural Center on Monday. A chapter of the fraternity made headlines last March after the release of a video showing University of Oklahoma SAE members singing a racist chant. Can A Black-Owned Business Market To All People?

Is a Black business obligated to always cater and market to a Black clientele? It’s an provocative question considering the current dust-up over global cosmetic company Black Opal’s new marketing campaign. As reported by Black Girl Long Hair: Black Opal, a well-established cosmetic line, found themselves in hot water yesterday when they responded to a series of Facebook comments regarding ads which seemed to distance them from their overwhelmingly black customer base. When Black Opal’s Twitter and Facebook followers saw the ads, they asked some valid questions. Most were black women who were under the impression that Black Opal was a brand geared toward black women or brown-skinned women in general… The company does assert emphatically that “our leadership has never issued a ‘non-inclusive’ statements” about its product offerings or sales objectives. [ MadameNoire ] Who’s To Blame For The Decline In Black Media? An October 2014 study released by Nielsen looked at the spending power of affluent African Americans in “African-American Consumers: The Untold Story.” Even though African Americans have an exponentially growing spending power said to soon reach $1.1 trillion this year, mainstream corporations only spend about three percent of their advertising and marketing budgets in African American markets. To find out why that is, we spoke with iconic Black newspapers, magazines and radio station executives as well as major multicultural advertising agencies on the resounding importance of Black media, why advertisers must not ignore our market, and how you, the reader, can flex your spending power to empower your community… [ MadameNoire ] College Student Posts 5,000 Flyers Claiming Football Player Gave Her Chlamydia…Twice University of Michigan football player Jabrill Peppers is being slandered all over campus for being a “despicable piece of sh*t,” allegedly. A fellow college student put up 5,000 flyers around campus accusing Peppers of giving her chlamydia twice in one year. Last time you were checked and found to be infected… in February. I’m not a math major, but 2+ 6 = 8. You got checked in August but don’t say anything? Wow.”… “And now after I found out that you were having relations with a Caucasian young broad while you were still having sex with me raw. Wow. Don’t Drink & Drive: Slizzed Man Injures 7 After Plowing Through Crowd At Delaware State University Homecoming

First OSU , now this?! Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes Through Delaware State University Homecoming A man believed to be under the influence of alcohol was arrested this weekend after he injured 7 people, one critically, at Delaware State University’s homecoming festivities. Police report that Gregory Ligon drove a Mercedes Benz through the school’s yard and pinned a woman against a tree after trying to stop it from going into reverse. Delaware State News reports: A woman was critically injured and six others injured when a car crashed into a crowd of people gathered on the Delaware State University campus Saturday evening, according to Dover Police. The remaining homecoming activities planned for the evening were canceled, police said in a Sunday morning news release. Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Dover Police public information officer, said the incident occurred at approximately 7:28 p.m., when Gregory Ligon, 28, of Mitchellville, Maryland, was driving a Mercedes Benz sedan in the area of the fraternity picnic area. Police said Mr. Ligon attempted to park his vehicle in the area and exited it once he did so, forgetting the vehicle was still in reverse. According to police, Mr. Ligon returned to the driver’s seat to stop the vehicle, but allegedly pushed the gas pedal instead of the brake. The vehicle accelerated over a curb and across a grassy area full of people. Police said the driver side door was open. Police said the vehicle struck seven people. The most serious of the injuries occurred when the driver door hit a 21-year-old female and pinned her against a tree. This victim was later flown to Christiana Hospital with major injuries. Police said the vehicle then continued as the driver door broke off, until it struck another tree and came to a stop. At that time Mr. Ligon was removed from the vehicle by several bystanders. Police said Mr. Ligon was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and will be charged with the following crimes:first-degree vehicular assault, six charges of second-degree vehicular assault, DU, and no proof of insurance. This is so scary. Don’t drink and drive folks, it’s just not worth it.
