Shannon Beador: Meet My Handsome New Man!

Shannon Beador has officially moved on from one of the messier divorces in recent Hollywood history . And not only that, but the Real Housewives of Orange County cast member has moved right into the arms of a very attractive new suitor. According to People Magazine, Beador is now dating a fellow California native named John Janssen. He’s a divorced father of three who graduated years ago from the University of Southern California. Janssen is 56 years old, met Beador through a mutual friend and he works as a partner at an insurance firm. “Shannon’s really happy,” a source close to the couple tells this publication , adding of her new lover: “He’s a great guy, and really adores her. And she is equally smitten. They make a great couple together and have been having a lot of fun.” Just how serious is this romance? It’s a bit too early to say for certain, but both sides have met the other’s kids — which is obviously a pretty huge deal in the world of dating and relationships. “The girls really like him,” the insider says of Shannon’s three daughters: Sophie, 18, and twins Stella and Adeline, 15. This past Tuesday, as you can see above, Shannon posed on Instagram with Janssen, sharing a smiling photo of the two during a night out in Newport Beach.  It’s been quite a journey for Beador to arrive at this happy place in her personal life. Shannon and ex-husband David Beador broke up in September 2017 after over 17 years of marriage; she then filed to end their marriage in December of this same year. Accusations of infidelity were subsequently hurled back and forth by both Shannon and David, with the former admitting she gained forty pounds due to stress from the marriage and then the split. She said many times that David checked out of the relationship as soon as her body started to change. Finally, after a year and a half of ugly allegations, the reality stars settled their divorce in April — he agreed to pay her $1.4 million . They also agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their daughters. The Real Housewives of Orange County kicks off season 14 on in August 6 at 9/8c on Bravo. Beador has already said that she’s back to her original weight and focused on the return of “Fun Shannon,” to use her own words. Check out the crazy trailer here: The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 14 Trailer: “I’m Not a F-cking Whore!”

Jackson State University Student Creates Straw That Filters Lead

F or Jackson State University graduate student LaMonté Pierce what started out as a class project focused on addressing an issue faced by communities in Mississippi led to the creation of a product designed to combat lead poisoning in water, WJTV reported. The JSU graduate student has received impressive offers from big retailers like Walmart which offered to sell CleanStraww in nearly 4,000 stores. https://t.co/0R8Zxwu4Tj — Lanaya Lewis (@LanayaLewis) June 20, 2019 Pierce and other students that he collaborated with decided to use the assignment as an avenue to address water contamination impacting the City of Jackson. They designed a straw that could be used to filter water. Pierce and his classmate Andrew Willis decided to go beyond the project and continue to do research and testing to turn the straw into a product that would be a catalyst in addressing water contamination in communities across the globe. Pierce’s efforts led to the creation of Cleanstraww . The straws are made of non-toxic materials and has a three-step filtering process which divides sediment and particles from water. He utilized a 3-D printer for the creation of the straw. “I saw somewhere they were drinking out of toilets, they were drinking from the river, different things like that. They use simple filters that you can find in everyday filters, but the thing was they did not filter out lead. If we can filter out lead, we can pretty much filter out anything,” he told the news outlet. “Take the responsibility of clean water directly out of the government, state and city officials hands and put it in the hands of the consumers. If you want clean water, here you go.” Several national retailers have expressed interest in selling his product, including Walmart. Pierce hopes that he can find investors for his product to grow his business and create more jobs in Mississippi. Products like Cleanstraww are needed. According to CBS News , lead in America’s water systems has become a growing national crisis. Summa Cum LOUD-e: Black Woman Named Marijuana Pepsi Takes High Road Over Lifelong Haters, Earns PhD At 46

Black Woman Named Marijuana Pepsi Vandyck Earns PhD Yes, you read all of that correctly . According to the Journal Sentinel , a Black woman with an unusual name has overcome a lifetime of haters and downtalkers to earn her doctorate degree. 46-year-old Marijuana Pepsi Vandyck, DOCTOR Marijuana Pepsi Vandyck, graduated from Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin last month. She says she absolutely refused to change her given name in order to show people that you can overcome things that people say will hold you back. Teachers, classmates, bosses and even some friends refused to call her by her name and tried to opt-out for “Mary”. She wasn’t having it. Those criticisms even inspired Marijuana to title her dissertation: “Black names in white classrooms: Teacher behaviors and student perceptions.” Her mother, Maggie (Brandy) Johnson, who still lives in Beloit, picked out her name and proclaimed that it would take her around the world. Her sisters, one older and one younger, got relatively common names, Kimberly and Robin. When asked about her thoughts on the legalization of her namesake she says: “My main concern are the individuals serving time for marijuana-related offenses. I would like to see all their sentences overturned. These people were locked up for making money from the sale of marijuana, and now that the government has figured out ways to make the money themselves, it is ‘legal’ and, further, encouraged.” For the record, Marijuana says she’s never smoked and doesn’t drink Pepsi. “I feel great. I party with drunk people; you can’t tell us apart.” She also doesn’t drink Pepsi or other soda except for an occasional fruity soft drink in an ice cream float. God bless the good sis. Put some respect on her name, not a Swisher Sweet!

High School Graduate Who Received 139 College Acceptance Letters Is Headed To Xavier University Of Louisiana

The rest is here:

R eceiving over 100 college acceptance letters can be overwhelming for a high school graduate, but for 18-year-old Normandie Cormier , it was clear that she would begin her next chapter at a historically Black college and university. According to USA Today , after being accepted to 139 colleges through the Common App and the Common Black College App, the Louisiana native has decided to further her education at Xavier University in New Orleans. Most parents and guidance counselors advise high school seniors to apply to more than one college — to have at least one “backup school.” Well, Normandie Cormier of Lafayette had more than 100 backups. https://t.co/JFTxju45Cc — azcentral (@azcentral) May 29, 2019 Cormier has always displayed excellence when it came to academics. Early on she decided that she wanted to enter a program that allowed her to simultaneously earn her high school diploma and a college degree. With the support of her family, she enrolled in Early College Academy which is a part of South Louisiana Community College’s campus. Outside of school, she was very involved in her local community, often mentoring young girls who want to pursue careers in STEM, tutoring youngsters and adults, and volunteering at a nursing home. The journey hasn’t been easy for Cormier. She’s dealt with several immune system issues which have caused many hospital visits. Despite her health ailments, she prevailed. She ended up graduating with a high school diploma and an associate’s degree. Her dedication to her education and making a positive impact in her community caught the attention of higher education institutions across the globe and earned her $8.7 million in scholarships and grants from GE, Burger King and other companies and organizations. Her hospital visits led her to choose a career path in medicine. “Since I was a child, I was always in and out of the hospital,” Cormier told USA Today. “When I was young, it affected my self-esteem. But now I can use it to inspire others.” She said selecting Xavier University of Louisiana was an easy decision because her personal goals are aligned with the school’s values. The aspiring doctor hopes that her journey will inspire others. #BlackBoyJoy: How One Young Man Earned TWO Tuition-Free Master’s Degrees From Columbia University

View this post on Instagram My friends said I should share this article , but yea — debt free! Don’t let anyone tell you can’t or you have to do something the way “they” did it ! A post shared by Maurice “Moe”Wiggins (@profyle_inc) on May 29, 2019 at 1:27pm PDT This Young Man Earned TWO Tuition-Free Master’s Degrees From Columbia Congratulations are in order for one young man who earned not one, but TWO, master’s degrees from Columbia University at NO COST to him . Yep, you read that right. “When Maurice Wiggins moved to New York from Florida, he knew he wanted to get an advanced degree and he knew that he wanted to earn it from Columbia University. But he would have to get in. And he would have to figure out how to pay for it,” the Columbia University Irving Medical Center website states . “As luck would have it, Wiggins was recruited in 2011 for an HR position at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). Most regular, full-time salaried University employees who have completed two years of continuous service may take advantage of a benefit that pays full tuition for their undergraduate and graduate courses at Columbia University, Barnard College, and Teachers College . The children of eligible employees also may qualify for a 100% tuition exemption for undergraduate degrees at Columbia and Barnard College.” After working for two years, Wiggins applied to the University’s School of International and Public Affairs, intent on getting his executive master of public administration (EMPA) degree. After earning that one, he went right back to school and got his master of science degree in strategic communications. View this post on Instagram Good morning ! “The Moement” by @regifbaby | new era #themoement #potd #photography #blackexcellence #saintlaurent #alexanderwang #mensfashion #menwithstyle #newyork A post shared by Maurice “Moe”Wiggins (@profyle_inc) on May 7, 2019 at 5:18am PDT “Where I came from, Columbia and schools like it weren’t within the realm of what we thought we could achieve,” he told CUIMC Today. “It was a personal goal for me to be able to say ‘I can go there, and I can graduate.’” “Time management has been key,” he told the site in reference to how he balanced a full-time job and classes on the weekends and some weeknights. “It was also really helpful that the things I was learning about I could actually practice at work. Some of the projects covered information that I would bring back and implement.” The site states he graduated this month… salute to the Black King.
