Was it really that fawking serious lady?!?! Mom Rips Out Daughter’s Hair For Not Being Able To Count A Pennsylvania, woman is in custody after authorities say she became so irate that her 6-year-old couldn’t count to 12 that she ripped a chunk of hair from her scalp. WPXI reports: A beaver county mother is facing charges after authorities said she abused her daughter by violently pulling her hair. According to the complaint, officers were first alerted to the case on Aug. 31 when hospital officials reported they were treating a 6-year-old for an injury to her head. The complaint said the injury was described as a separation of the victim’s scalp from her skull, also known as traction. This caused a void between the skull and scalp that filled with blood. “The doctors told us there was a separation of the victim from her skull,” Conway police Officer Mike Priolo said. Doctors who treated the girl told police her injuries were most consistent with violent hair pulling, as well as an impact to her left ear. Once officers interviewed the girl’s mother, identified as Brittany Ruck, the complaint states she admitted to pulling her daughter’s hair to get her attention. The complaint said the child told police that her mother wanted her to count to 12, but she couldn’t. “The little girl told us she could only count to 10 because she had 10 fingers, but she couldn’t count any higher. That’s when the mother grabbed her by her hair,” Priolo said. According to the complaint, the girl told police that on a separate occasion, her mother pulled her across the floor into a corner by a hair. “It’s just sad because she didn’t do anything wrong and she had to bear the brunt of pain,” Priolo said. Channel 11 News had learned Ruck has three children, and they’ve been placed with other family members. SMH…@ the mom previously pulling the daughter across the floor by her hair, she clearly has a history of abuse. What do YOU think about this story BOSSIP fam????
Study Finds White People More In Support Of Voter Suppression Laws After Seeing Black People Vote via Kulture Kritic Researchers from the University of Delaware’s Center for Political Communication have released a new study suggesting that photographs of black Americans using voting machines affect white respondents’ support of voter-ID laws. According to the study (pdf), when white survey respondents saw an image of black Americans using ballot machines, they had stronger support for voter ID than those who did not see the image. Furthermore, seeing white Americans using ballot machines had no impact on respondents’ support of the controversial laws. “Our findings suggest that public opinion about voter-ID laws can be racialized by simply showing images of African-American people,” David C. Wilson, who helped supervise the nationwide study, said. For the survey, which was conducted online in 2012, respondents were divided into three groups, one of which saw an image of black voters, one that saw an image of white voters and one that saw no image at all. In the first group, which saw a picture of black voters, 73 percent of white respondents said that they favored voter-ID laws. This is in comparison with the white respondentsin the remaining two groups, who were 67 percent in favor. The 6-percentage-point difference is big enough to be statistically significant, researchers say. “Majorities in all three groups favored voter-ID laws, but the margin was wider when white respondents saw a black person using a voting machine,” Wilson said.
Scientists Say Germ-Blasting Robot Can Fight Ebola We might not need to order protective gear or walk around in plastic bubbles quite yet. Texas scientists say many hospitals already have the key to zapping away the deadly Ebola virus before it reaches pandemic status. Via WTSP : A local invention may turn out to be a key piece of technology in the fight against Ebola. It’s a robot used by hospitals to disinfect and destroy bacteria and viruses. Meet “Little Moe” the germ-zapping robot. “What’s inside here is a xenon bulb,” said Mark Stibich, PH.D. That bulb emits powerful UV light, which fuses the DNA of a virus and kills it. This powerful technology is now being used in 250 hospitals across the U.S. Little Moe was developed in the Alamo City by Xenex. Its customers include the University Health System in San Antonio and the Dallas hospital where doctors are treating the first man ever diagnosed with Ebola in America. Dr. Mark Stibich with Xenex said these robots can rid a hospital room of germs in 5 minutes and destroy Ebola on any surface in 2 minutes. Dr. Stibich said while the Ebola virus is causing a lot of concern right now, he said, it’s not as big as a threat here as it is in Africa because of our superior health care and advanced medical technology. That’s comforting and all…but how many hospitals actually have this??
Move them stamps ! Ohio Man Arrested For Selling Food Stamps On Facebook A man trying to sell his girlfriend’s food stamp card on Facebook now faces a felony charge. Via Journal News reports: Police said Derron Chamberlain posted on the social media site that he was selling his girlfriend’s food stamp card for $100. He also included his phone number for potential buyers to contact him, police said. “He did put his real information while he was doing this illegal act for everybody to see,” said Middletown Police Lt. Scott Reeve. Chamberlain, 35, of Plymouth Avenue, was excited, police said, when officers from the police department’s Special Operations Unit contacted him acting as potential buyers. “He kept calling back to the detectives to a point where they thought it was humorous how much he was calling back trying to make a deal happen,” Reeve said. About six hours after detectives called Chamberlain, they met him at Goldman Park, 1400 Highland St. Police said Chamberlain did not resist arrest and is charged with trafficking food stamps, a fifth-degree felony. “He didn’t realize he had done anything wrong,” Reeve said. “Even when they brought him into the police department and talked to him he was still surprised to find out it was illegal for him to sell his girlfriend’s food stamp card.” About $6.6 million is distributed monthly in Butler County via the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps. While benefits fraud is not a new crime, the lingering dismal economy and drug abuse, particularly heroin, has turned it into an epidemic, Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones told the Journal-News in January. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has said that food stamp fraud totals $750 million each year. An investigation launched from suspicion that Butler County’s skyrocketing food assistance dollars may be attributed in part to fraud, abuse and misuse has resulted in the arrest of hundreds and a taxpayer savings of $5.2 million since July 2012, the Journal-News reported earlier this year. The operation, manned by two Butler County sheriff’s detectives with help of state and federal agencies including the Secret Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, netted 116 violators between July 2012 and June 2013 and 100 from July to December 2013. Why the hell would you be dumb enough to use your real name and number to sell food stamps on Facebook??????!
