Movieline Premieres the Poster for 8: The Mormon Proposition

One of the hot button documentaries this year at Sundance was 8: The Mormon Proposition , which examines the Mormon Church’s role in passing the anti-gay Proposition 8 in California and happens to be narrated by the openly gay, prominently ex-Mormon writer/director Dustin Lance Black ( Milk , the upcoming What’s Wrong with Virginia ). The film will be released in theaters, on demand and through digital download channels June 18th, but until then, Movieline has your first look at its poster.

Kate Winslet’s New Role

Kate Winslet is back at work despite recently ending her seven-year marriage. The Oscar winning actress, seen here on set in New York, is currently filming the upcoming HBO mini series, Mildred Pierce where she will play the title role. Set during the great depression, Winslet’s character is a newly divorced single mother who takes a job in a restaurant and soon finds herself caught up in a web of intrigue and murder. It’s the kind of part tailor-made for the 34-year-old, who has made a career of taking roles in period pieces. Mildred Pierce is a remake of the 1945 critically acclaimed film of the same name and earned Joan Crawford an Academy Award for her portrayal. Filming is expected to continue throughout April and will be aired later this year.

Networks Moving Forward With Their Plan to Kill TV Comedy

Get ready to laugh until you don’t. In their increasing effort to parrot trends and kill whatever works with over-saturation — never forget Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? — television networks are stuffing their upcoming schedules with comedy pilots. According to a piece in the New York Times today, 40 comedy pilots are being produced this season, including 10 alone for Fox. Says Fox’s entertainment president Kevin Reilly, “We’re going to recommit.” So, more Brothers ?

Michelle McGee has fightin’ words for her haters. Jesse James’ mistress got a lot more than that for porn star Gina Lynn, her upcoming female boxing adversary in Celebrity Boxing 19 . Ding, ding! There have been conflicting reports on this. McGee was originally supposed to referee the match between Lynn and Hailey Glassman … or Kate Major. One of the two was going to fight Gina. In any case, whichever mediocre Jon Gosselin plaything was supposed to throw down backed down, leaving an opening for another d-list boxer. Luckily, Bombshell stepped in. The fight is ON May 7: Michelle Bombshell (McGee) is famous because of boning Jesse James. Now she is featured on a site called BoneBreakerz.com. Coincidence? We think so. But funny .
