Source: AFP / Getty Folks…Instagram is at again! After coming for Snapchat’s life by creating Insta Stories in 2016 , IG now seems to be coming for YouTube with their new long-form video sharing. At a San Francisco event on Wednesday, Instagram announced IGTV for Instagram creators. It will be a feature within the main Instagram app and it will be it’s own separate app for iOS and Android. As soon as people log into IGTV it will automatically play vertical long-form videos from people you follow. Similar to turning on a TV, but without the big TV networks. At launch, IGTV will not involve any ads and the company has yet to create a revenue sharing agreement with creators. However, IG eventually wants creators to make a living off the service. They’ve already partnered with a few IG personalities to pre-populate the service with content. Brands and media organizations will also be invited to participate. Beauty vlogger Manny Gutierrez , video game streamer Ninja , and fitness personality Katie Austin are just a few of the creators who were invited to test IGTV. The new video service will allow users to upload up to ten minutes of video to Instagram, while people with larger followings can upload up to an hour of video. Eventually, the Facebook-owned company hopes to let users post videos of unlimited length, according to Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom. So yea…like I said, Instagram now seems to be coming for YouTube. That’s not to say YouTube should be severely threatened by IGTV, considering YouTube does non-vertical video content and they have YouTube red. But IG is definitely making the competition stiff! When accepting his award, Boseman called out James Shaw Jr., the hero who averted the Waffle House crisis in Tennessee, and gave him the trophy. CNN reports : “Receiving an award for playing a superhero is amazing, but it’s even greater to acknowledge the heroes that we have in real life,” Boseman said. “So I just want to acknowledge somebody that’s here today. James Shaw Jr. Where are you? Stand. If you don’t know James Shaw Jr., he fought off a gunman in Antioch, Tennessee at a Waffle House. He saved lives. Come on up here.” Shaw then took the stage and Boseman handed him the golden popcorn award, “This is gonna live at your house.” Shaw was grazed by a bullet while grappling with the gunman and burned his right hand grabbing the barrel of the weapon. Source: Chris Polk/VMN18 / Getty Michael B. Jordan could have been nominated for Best Acceptance Speech as well if it was an actual category. After winning the Best Villain award for his portrayal as T’Challa’s wayward revolutionary cousin Erik Killmonger, Jordan used his speech to take a dig at Roseanne Barr. He stated he “shocked” and “thought for sure Roseanne had that in the bag.” The “joke” comes after Roseanne sent out a racist tweet with ABC shocking everyone and canceling her hit reboot show . Barr later blamed her racist tweeting on taking Ambien and was dragged through the social media streets for it. (@PhotosByBeanz) June 19, 2018 Jordan wasn’t finished though after the Roseanne “joke.” He then went to speak on behalf of Chadwick and said “Chadwick Boseman personally asked me to ask y’all to stop asking him to say ‘Wakanda Forever’ out in the streets. Y’all taking the forever thing a little too seriously.” What a Killmonger thing to say, but we totally get it cause Chadwick was out here looking utterly fed up with having to belt the rallying cry and do the salute. We also saw Michael B.Jordan jokingly show his frustration with saying the term during an interview with a white journalist. Despite the Letitia Wright being robbed, Black Panther owned the night taking home Best Movie and with Chadwick taking home two awards one for Best Hero and Best Performance in a movie. Chadwick also put himself in the category of Best Acceptance speech by using his moment to shine a light on real-life hero James Shaw.Jr . . @chadwickboseman you a real one for this. #MTVAwards pic.twitter.com/diUURUwrWx — B E A N Z | Thanos’ Personal Photographer . Source: kali9 / Getty The summertime can definitely be nostalgic, especially when school lets out for the kids. From beach trips, to cookouts, to hanging outside, there was no one who could rain on your parade as a kid… …except your parents. And if they weren’t giving you stress, a trip to your grandparents’ house could definitely get ugly. Don’t let it be a week-long stay either. Grandma might treat you every now and then, but you better believe some work will get done too. Comedian Davy Ruffin portrays the feeling perfectly, from having to clean grandma’s property… To being put in time-out… To an impromptu school session… And don’t let your cousins come over to complicate the situation… The struggle. If there’s a summertime moment that takes you back to the old days, let us know on Twitter and Facebook!
Cardi B pulls A Jerry on Jerry Seinfeld . If you remember a few years back Jerry infamously ignored Kesha’s request for a hug during an interview. Well on the latest episode of Between Two Ferns with Zack Galifianakis , Jerry stops by the show only to be replaced for a better guest, Cardi B. Two thirds through the interview the Bodak Yellow singer comes out and Zack makes Jerry sit on a milk crate to have some delightful banter with Cardi B event giving her a gift for her new baby. After some small talk they end the interview, Cardi gives Zack a hug, as Jerry waits with his arm out, but Cardi walks right by him without so much as a glance in Jerry’s direction. With perfect comedic timing Jerry says, “That was the opposite of what happened with Kesha,” Seinfeld said, referring to the time the singer asked him for a hug on the red carpet but he declined. Great stuff.
