SMH: Lorde Was Almost Destroyed For Something She Said About Whitney Houston

Source: ullstein bild / Getty New Zealand singer Lorde was about to be dragged to Jersey and back for an Instagram post in reference to Whitney Houston.    Here’s what happened: So apparently, this week, Lorde had a day off and she decided to celebrate it with a nice bath. Nice, right?   Only problem is, when she took a picture of her water-filled bath, she captioned it “And iii will always love you.”   Evidence…   As you might know, Whitney’s untimely death was caused by drowning in a bath tub . So yea. After the now deleted pic was posted, folks swarmed in on Lorde, calling her caption insensitive and straight up tone death. Of all the songs by all the singers in the world, Lorde had to caption a picture of her bathtub with Whitney Houston lyrics. pic.twitter.com/u0uN3jgQms — shane telford. (@MrShaneReaction) April 6, 2018 Y'all. Lorde just made a Whitney Houston bathtub joke. I would say cancel her, but canceled folks just end up being more successful in the long run. — tyrese sanders (@tysandsnyc) April 6, 2018 This is disgusting idk how people find it funny. Whitney was a legend. she was amazing. she was a queen. she was a strong black woman. I like lorde but this is truly disgusting pic.twitter.com/B5cR3tolaU — black female (@privsari) April 6, 2018 twitter to lorde after coming for whitney houston pic.twitter.com/QudA2vVnFs — 1942bs (@REGGllE) April 6, 2018 Lorde eventually apologized for her choice of words… Nah Lorde really didn’t realize what she was doing when she posted that Whitney lyric… she stepped into the Shade Room to clarify though and I am SCREAMING! pic.twitter.com/mdfGqF5PPj — Blue Ivy's Au Pair (@MikeyTBH) April 6, 2018 Lorde's apology. pic.twitter.com/mSZmQwwTYt — Lerato N. (@uLelato) April 6, 2018 …and some folks defended her, saying there’s no way she meant any jokes by her post. To all the people saying Lorde is cancelled bc of insta pic of the bath and the Whitney lyrics caption… people do stuff like that ALL THE TIME it was obvs just a very bad coincidence and i genuinely don’t think Lorde would do that purposefully… — Elliott (@ouhoooh) April 6, 2018 Do you REALLY REALLY GENUINELY THINK that Lorde intentionally mocked Whitney's death REALLY — sleepy (@Ornithohalloran) April 6, 2018 Smh. Messy. But it seems there’s folks with forgiveness in their heart. What do you think of the whole debacle? Are you giving Lorde a pass or should she have known better? Let us know on Twitter or Facebook!

‘Empire’ Recap: Cookie’s Health Takes A Plunge

Source: FOX Image Collection / Getty It’s back to business as usual at Empire Records, and there’s always the proverbial snake in the grass lurking too. We start with Lucious popping awake from a bad dream about the night his car blew up, and now his Lyon senses are tingling. In other words, he suspects that Andre might have something to do with trying to kill him so he tells Thirsty to get to investigating. In other news, Eddie (Lucious’ Uncle) and Giselle (Eddie’s ex-wife) are part of Empire’s staff now. They’re exes, but they’re in deep financial trouble so of course, they’re going to try to use Empire for a come up. This is actually a good time for scheming because Empire is making money moves with their streaming service. Eddie and Giselle brought a new investor to the table and Cookie and Lucious are down with the partnership. Unfortunately, said business partner is down to steal Empire right along with Eddie and Giselle and later on in the episode, he mentions that he’s actually going to buy Empire based on the moves they made, but Eddie said he’ll deal with telling Lucious what’s up. The other part to this sneaky takeover is that Eddie has been going around planting divisive bugs in people’s ears. He lowkey convinced Jamal to drop out of the upcoming 20 for 20 Celebration, and while working with Tiana on her music, he tells her that she can’t let Hakeem distract her from her music. Later on, Hakeem proposes to her and she says she needs to think about it because she can’t have any distractions. It was that easy. via GIPHY Speaking of 20 for 20, there’s an old Empire act that they didn’t invite back. It’s one of Empire’s first acts, a girl group called “TBD” (with Tisha Campbell guest starring as the lead), and they are so salty that they’re on TV telling everyone who will listen that they got beef. They plan to release their own anniversary album, which will include a dis track that spills all the tea on Empire. But you know the Lyons ain’t having that. Cookie shows up to a TBD performance at a mall to handle her business. The group is a bunch of has-beens so they need all the money and attention they can get. Cookie offers them a deal with Empire for their anniversary album. They says they’ll be in the studio as long as they get an apology from Lucious for…whatever it is that he knows he did. You know pre-accident Lucious was trash. Later on, Lucious apologizes, but they don’t accept it because they think it’s disingenuous. They start talking about how Lucious sabotaged their last album, they feel some type of way about Cookie running things, etc—basically, they’re returning the petty and just like that, they leave because they say that have another deal on the table anyway. However, Lucious points out that it’s a smaller label with less money. Cookie is obviously annoyed when she learns it didn’t work out, but Lucious says he’s going to show her how to get it done the “Old fashion Empire way.” Uh oh. via GIPHY Surprisingly, the Empire way isn’t violent, but there are chess moves involved. Empire acquires the label TBD decided to sign too so now they’re stuck. The conditions are that they take back their dis track, apologize to Empire now, and perform at the showcase. If all goes well then they get to keep their reunion album. Finally, the episode winds down with a Lyon family dinner. It starts off innocently enough, with Cookie and Lucious telling Dre that he’s still going to be able to take the reigns of the business, not now, but down the line when he’s better. However, what is a Lyon family function without the dysfunction? via GIPHY Fast forward a bit. Dre and Lucious are alone in another room and Dre finally admits to Lucious he called the bomb. He said he tried to call it off if that’s any consolation, then hands Lucious a gun and tells him to do what he has to do. Lucious snaps and pistol whips Jamal. Think about this, Dre almost killed Cookie too. He didn’t anticipate Cookie getting in that car but that’s what happened, and we know how Lucious feels about her so that’s what that rage was really about. Luckily for Jamal, the rest of the Lyons rushed in and break it up. Hakeem and Jamal express how disappointed they are in Dre. They point out all the messed up things Lucious did to them, as well as the fact that they never tried to kill him. Cookie and Lucious are chatting at the same time in another room. Lucious says she doesn’t know what to do but he’s obviously shaken. Cookie tries to get Lucious to be positive by pointing out that Dre wasn’t in his right mind and that he’s getting back to his old self,, but then she collapses and says she can’t feel her right arm. Issa heart attack. Hopefully, we’ll find out Cookie’s fate next week. Father Kills Daughter And Ex To Avoid Child Support Payments

How much is too much to allow a 2-year-old to live?” This was the question asked by Prince George County’s State Attorney Angela D. Alsobrooks (D) asked the jury in her opening statement. “Is it $200? Is it $400? Is $600 the magic number?” she said. It’s hard to believe a father would kill his child, not to mention her mother, because of child support. But on Tuesday, a jury convicted a Maryland man named Daron Boswell-Johnson on two counts of murder in the double killing. Reports say not long after Boswell-Johnson became a father he took to the Internet posting questions that related to child support in hopes that other dad’s who had gone through it could help. According to the  Washington Post , in 2015 Boswell-Johnson’s posts asked, “How can I stop child support?” “How does the court know if child support is not paid?” he typed shortly after. And in January 2016, he asked, “What if I am behind on my child support?” It would only be a few weeks later that his paycheck would start seeing a $600 a month garnish. Soon after, in the early morning of Feb. 2, 2016, his daughter Chloe Davis-Green and her mother, NeShante Davis, were dead. With no gun and no DNA evidence linking Boswell-Johnson to the murder scene, prosecutors relied on his videotaped confession to detectives, cellphone records, surveillance videos and notes he wrote to his loved ones before heading to jail. “I know I failed you as a son,” he told his mother. See a short video where Boswell-Johnson is being interviewed by cop. “I’m not the monster they are making me seem to be,” he wrote to the mother of his other two children.  “I was lying to them until they bring me your picture,” he told his girlfriend. The lie he refers to is when he first told officials that he was sleeping at the time in question. But then he was shown surveillance video of his SUV rolling out of his apartment complex that morning. He acquiesced, and told detectives he simply went to his daughter’s townhouse to see her off to school. WP reports eventually, after hours of denials, Boswell-Johnson confessed, prosecutors said. He woke up in the early hours of Feb. 2 and drove to Fort Washington, parking his car down the street from Davis’s home, then sat on the steps two houses away waiting for Davis to emerge for work, detectives testified, describing Boswell-Johnson’s confession. “I want to talk about child support,” Boswell-Johnson said to her, according to his recorded police interview. When she refused to talk, he pulled a gun from his waistband and fired, he said in his confession. Davis was shot in the back and Chloe suffered two gunshot wounds, with the bullets piercing her car seat, according to expert testimony at trial. The close-range gunfire was so violent, according to prosecutors, it blew Chloe out of her car seat and the beads out of her hair. “He went there to terminate his child support,” Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph Ruddy said after showing jurors the bloodstained pink onesie Chloe was wearing the morning of the shooting. “Chloe was a bill . . . a bill that he wasn’t going to pay.” After the killing, Boswell-Johnson fled and went to work.
