Tyrese Shares Picture From The Set Of Sony’s Spider-Man Spinoff Film ‘Morbius’

When Sony announced that they were working on Spider-Man spinoff films for Venom and Morbius without the teenage webslinger even as so much as making an appearance, there was a collective groan from comic book fans around the world. But with the surprising success of the actually entertaining Venom , Sony is now going full steam ahead with production on Morbius which stars Jared Leto as biochemist Michael Morbius who’s turned into the Living Vampire after a failed lab experiment, and Tyrese Gibson as Agent Simon Stroud who’s hot on the trail of the blood sucking antihero. Yesterday (May 2), Black Ty took to IG to post the first on set pic of Morbius which is currently filming in London. Tyrese is draped in a trench coat and bulletproof vest while standing next to Morbius director Daniel Espinoza ( Life ). That being said it’s almost inevitable that Morbius and Venom will at some point crossover but whether or not Spider-Man will ever join the fray remains to be seen. Being that Marvel Studios has Sony’s permission to use Spider-Man in their films for a few more flicks before that deal runs out means that it’s only a matter of time before Sony reboots their Spider-Man franchise and integrates him back into their own Marvel universe. But whether or not they’ll keep fan favorite Spidey Tom Holland in that role or recast it with a new face is anyone’s guess at this point. Either way, we just hope they don’t F-up the Spider-Man franchise now that Marvel’s got it back on steady ground. — Photo:

Raz B is behind bars in Minneapolis for allegedly strangling his girlfriend. Local police took photos of her reported injuries as evidence. See Also: Already? Director John Singleton To Be Taken Off of Life Support

John Singleton will be taken off of life support today (April 29) according to his family. The renowned director’s family issued a statement confirming the decision. “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our beloved son, father and friend, John Daniel Singleton will be taken off of life support today,” reads the family’s statement, per ABC News . “This was an agonizing decision, one that our family made, over a number of days, with the careful counsel of John’s doctors.” It continues, “It is, for us, heartbreaking. We are grateful to his fans, friends and colleagues for the outpouring of love and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.” Seems like all the confusion earlier today about whether or not Singleton was still alive was due to poor communication. He is survived by his mother, Sheila who was also his business manager, his father, Danny and six children. Prayers up to the Singleton family and John Singleton. Kansas City Chiefs Suspend WR Tyreek Hill After Alleged Domestic Violence Audio Surfaces

In the wake of yet another alleged incident, the Kansas City Chiefs, having already been through something similar with Kareem Hunt , suspended wide receiver Tyreek Hill after audio surfaced of the player seemingly threatening his fiancee and mother of their son. TMZ Sports reports : New audio tapes have surfaced purporting to capture NFL star Tyreek Hill threatening his fiancee over an alleged child abuse incident involving their 3-year-old son — where you can hear a man say, “You need to be terrified of me too, bitch.” The audio was reportedly recorded by Hill’s fiancee, Crystal Espinal, as an “insurance policy” — and then passed to a friend who gave it to KCTV in Kansas City. The recording is believed to have been made in early March. As we previously reported, the Kansas City Chiefs superstar WR and Espinal were the subjects of a child abuse investigation involving their 3-year-old. There are reports the boy suffered a broken arm. KCTV has now released the audio — claiming the man you hear on the recording is, in fact, Tyreek Hill. Michael Avenatti Accused Of Stealing Hassan Whiteside’s Settlement Payment To Ex-Girlfriend

BROWN / Getty Michael Avenatti has been dogged with accusations of doing some shady business of late, including trying to put the squeeze onto Nike before the apparel company got the drop on him and countered his moves. Now, a new report is alleging that the attorney embezzled money from NBA player Hassan Whiteside after he intercepted a $2 million settlement in order to buy shares into a private jet. Los Angeles Times reports: When Hassan Whiteside of the Miami Heat wired $2.75 million to Michael Avenatti in January 2017, the pro basketball player intended most of the money to go to his former girlfriend, Alexis Gardner. Avenatti was Gardner’s attorney. An actress and barista, she’d hired him just a few weeks before to negotiate a settlement of a potential lawsuit against Whiteside. It’s unclear what she would have alleged. Avenatti quickly struck a $3-million deal, and the $2.75 million was Whiteside’s first payment. Avenatti, prosecutors say, was entitled to take just over $1 million in legal fees, leaving the rest for Gardner. Instead, they allege, Avenatti hid Whiteside’s payment from her and immediately took $2.5 million to buy a share of a private jet. Flint To Receive Remaining $77.7 Million From 2017 Federal Loan

Source: Detroit Free Press / Getty As news spread that the White House offered to help France rebuild after the Notre Dame Cathedral fire in Paris, Americans were outraged since adequate help had not yet been provided to the community of Flint, Michigan right here at home. Fortunately, on Monday, it was announced Flint is finally set to receive the remaining $77.7 million it was promised, as part of the $120 million loan allocated to the city back in 2017 following their water crisis . “$77.7 million in loan assistance at a zero percent interest rate with 100-percent principal loan forgiveness,” Michigan Department of Environmental Quality announced . “The loan will fund the completion of a secondary water source pipeline, Dort Street and Cedar Street Reservoir and Pump Station improvements, construction of a chemical feed building, replacement of the Northwest transmission main, water main and water meter replacement, water quality monitoring panels, and contingency service line replacement funding. These projects will enhance the water distribution system by ensuring long-term compliance and protection of public health.” Monroe County and the City of East Lansing will also receive funding to improve their respective water distribution systems . “While we are grateful for this funding it’s important to understand it’s not new funding,” Flint’s Director of Public Works Rob Bincsik said, according to MLive . “The federal government awarded this funding and is utilizing the MDEQ’s Drinking Water Revolving Fund as the mechanism to disperse it to the City of Flint.” This is great news and we’ll continue to keep you informed as updates are provided. Chicago Police Caught On Camera Punching Female High School Student

Email Submit On the footage, you can see Dnigma talking to a friend as officers loom in the background. When the friend leaves they immediately run up on Dnigma and push her to the ground. Video from another angle shows the officers dragging Howard down the stairs, and at the bottom one officer is holding her arm while the other is holding her leg. “In the video you can see they pull her by the leg down the stairs, the whole flight of stairs,” Dnigma’s father Laurentio Howard. One cop on the video appears to both punch and kick the teenaged girl while she’s on the ground. Dnigma’s father had been called to the school to pick her up after she was kicked out of class for having her phone out. He was on hand watching Chicago police handle his daughter like this. “I’m standing downstairs by the front door and she said, ‘I’m going to get her to come downstairs. She’s going home right now,’” he said. “I couldn’t believe I seen two sworn police officers of Chicago abusing my daughter like this and I’m standing right there watching them do this and can’t do anything about it,” he recalled of the incident. Students At LeBron James’ I Promise School Show Impressive Academic Improvement

I t’s been nearly a year since NBA star LeBron James opened the I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio and it has proven to be nothing short of impactful in the lives of underserved children. According to CBS Sports , its students are making strides and displaying excellence when it comes to academics. “We are reigniting dreams that were extinguished — already in third and fourth grade,” said Brandi Davis, the principal at LeBron James’s I Promise School https://t.co/mzVUtgtUOY — The New York Times (@nytimes) April 13, 2019 When many of the students started their journey with the school they were at least one grade level behind and now they are outperforming other students in their district. Results from Measures of Academic Progress testing showed that 90 percent of students met or surpassed expectations in math and reading, their test scores increased at a higher rate than nearly 100 other schools, and students who were reading below grade level are now within or above the 25th percentile. Furthermore, fourth-graders went from the second to 30th percentile in math and third-graders made improvement in that area as well going from the first to the 18th percentile. James is happy to witness the progress the students have made and hopes that it brings attention to the need for quality education in underserved communities. “These kids are doing an unbelievable job—better than we all expected,” he said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “When we first started, people knew I was opening a school for kids. Now people are going to really understand the lack of education they had before they came to our school. People are going to finally understand what goes on behind our doors.” The I Promise School has grown to become a staple in the community. Aside from enriching the lives of children through education, it provides resources for low-income families; including everything from a food pantry to career support. The school will launch summer camps surrounding STEM education within the next few months and in 2021 students will have the opportunity to further their education at the University of Akron free of tuition.
