Rice has made efforts to atone for his horrific act, but it seems that the incident may have effectively ended his career. Now, Rice is making what seems to be a last-ditch effort to get signed by an NFL team in time for the 2016 season. In an interview with USA Today , the 29-year-old pledged to donate his entire salary to charity if he lands a new contract: “All the scrutiny that I’ve got, it was deserved, because domestic violence is a horrible thing,” Rice says. “Me donating my salary is something that’ll be from the heart for me. I only want to play football so I can end it the right way for my kids and for the people that really believed in me.” He added that the pledge is not being offered as an incentive, but rather as proof to the league and its fans of how much he’s changed: “I’m not saying I’d be [donating the salary] to get on the field, but it’s something that will show where my heart is. My heart is about finishing the right way and helping people along the way.” As a seventh-year veteran, Rice’s minimum salary would be $885,000. Having not set foot on an NFL field for the past two seasons, Rice stated in a recent interview that he’s aware of the fact that his window of opportunity for a comeback is closing rapidly. So this may not be Rice’s attempt to bribe his way back into the league, as some detractors have claimed, but it’s certainly an act of desperation from a man who knows he has few options left.

Back in April, Paris Jackson got a tattoo to pay tribute to her late, legendary father. The 18-year-old followed that up with more ink, and today she revealed why she’s been so eager to complete her sleeves: As you may recall, it wasn’t that long ago that Jackson struggled with severe depression in the wake of her father’s death. Paris attempted suicide in 2013, and she recently revealed that she engaged in self-harm practices such as cutting for several years. Now, Paris is speaking for the first time about how her painful past inspired her current fondness for tattoos. In a lengthy caption for the above Instagram photo, the 18-year-old revealed that while she likes the look of her ink, her decision to go under the needle was inspired by more than simple aesthetics: “Today I can look at my inner forearms and see art that has meaning for me, I don’t see a dark past anymore,” Paris wrote. “My scars and past of self-hatred have been covered by loving marks, creativity, ingenuity.. and depth. Sure I will always carry my past with me, but I see ink as a way of changing for the better, always improving. “They represent strength for me. I look back at my old self and then i look in the mirror, and i see a fighter looking back at me. I’ll always keep fighting, and encouraging others to stay strong. “We all go through hell every now and then but it makes us the warriors of love we were meant to be. so to anyone struggling, it gets better. At around 9:00 p.m. ET, a Nebraska couple watch their two-year-old son wade in the shallows of Walt Disney World’s Seven Seas Lagoon at the Grand Floridian Hotel. All of a sudden, the boy was snatched up by an alligator and dragged into the water. “The father entered the water, and he tried to grab the child, but was not successful in doing so,” Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings told reporters during a press conference today. The mother also went into the water to try and save her son. The couple, who brought their 4-year-old daughter on the trip, alerted a nearby lifeguard who then called 911. The father suffered only scratches while trying to remove the boy from the alligator’s jaw. “They [alligators] were probably attracted to some motion on the bank,” executive director of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Nick Wiley explained, according to USA Today . “That’s the way they stalk their prey.” Wiley added that the alligator could have mistaken the child for prey, as the reptile was likely feeding. The lake is being searched by wildlife specialists, divers and a trained alligator trapper. Four alligators have been removed, but no traces of the child were found. Demings told reporters this morning that this was still considered a “search and rescue operation,” adding that he and all though involved in looking for the boy were “very hopeful. “Sometimes you get the worst, but we are hoping for the best,” he said. As the search continued, Demings changed his tune. The sad reality of it is it’s been several hours, and we’re not likely going to recover a live body,” he said, according to CNN . No Swimming signs are posted to all beach areas of the land-locked resort, which has never had an accident like this.
