Andrew Koenig Remembered By Alyssa Milano, ‘Star Trek’ Stars

‘My deepest sympathies to Andrew Koenig’s family,’ tweeted William Shatner, who co-starred with Andrew’s dad on ‘Star Trek.’ By Katie Byrne Andrew Koenig Photo: Zuma Red West Photos After more than a week of pleas from his family and friends and exhaustive police searches, “Growing Pains” actor Andrew Koenig was found dead Thursday (February 25) in a Vancouver park. The 41-year-old suffered from depression, and a police spokeswoman confirmed at a news conference that all signs pointed to suicide. Famous friends of the actor, who most notably played Richard “Boner” Stabone on the ’80s sitcom “Growing Pains,” responded to the tragic news online. “RIP Andrew Koenig, missing since Valentine’s Day, was found dead in Vancouver, Canada,” Alyssa Milano tweeted. She also urged her followers to help anyone they know with similar issues to Koenig’s: “If you know someone suffering from depression, please do everything in your power to get them help. R.I.P. Andrew.” With Andrew’s dad, Walter Koenig, part of the original “Star Trek” cast and Andrew himself a guest star on “Deep Space Nine,” many members of the sci-fi show’s family reached out online. Spencer Pratt: Addicted to Crystals, Fame

Stories about Spencer Pratt and his plastic wife keep on getting more ridiculous. The latest? The Hills’ resident villain is addicted to crystal, allegedly. Not crystal meth or Cristal, just … crystals. In an effort to find enlightenment (he’s very spiritual), he’s been seen with his favorite rock recently. Honestly, there are photos. Says Spencer Pratt : “I am so addicted to crystals, it’s a sickness. I’ve spent $500,000 on crystals this year. I checked my bank account last night, and I have $203 left.” Lies. But humorous ones at least. We got nothing. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com] During Valentine’s Day, Speidi “hung out with our puppies and cuddled with our crystal. It’s supposed to bring love. There’s a whole science to this. I’m not crazy.” No, of course not. Although he may be lying. We saw Speidi’s Valentine’s Day pictures , and let’s just say it involved lingerie, chocolates and … we’re gonna puke. As for the new fascination of Spencer Pratt, he might be overpaying at half a million for one crystal, according to an expert hilariously cited by Life & Style … “Certain crystals are associated with different types of energy, yes. But [$500K] doesn’t sound right to me. Most of our crystals range from $1 to $100.” So he’s either full of it or overpaid by about 5,000 times the market value. Somehow we’d bet on the former. Think how much plastic surgery that’d buy.

Missing ‘Growing Pains’ Actor Andrew Koenig Was Suffering From Depression

Vancouver police say the 41-year-old ‘has recently been despondent.’ By MTV News Staff Andrew Koenig Photo: IMDB Andrew Koenig, the 41-year-old former “Growing Pains” actor who has been missing since February 14, has suffered from depression, according to statements from his family and law enforcement officials. “Andrew has recently been despondent, and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being,” Vancouver police said in a statement released Sunday, CNN reports. “Andrew was suffering from depression at the time of his disappearance,” the family said in a statement. Koenig, who played Richard “Boner” Stabone — star Kirk Cameron’s best friend, on “Growing Pains” — was visiting friends in Vancouver and was expected to return home to Venice, California, on February 16. His father, Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the original “Star Trek” TV and film franchise, last spoke with his son on February 9. He received a note troubling note from Andrew, postmarked February 15. Andrew has not been seen since Valentine’s Day. “He sounded despondent,” Walter said of the note. “Nobody has seen this [note] but my wife and I.” While Vancouver police conduct an investigation, Andrew Koenig’s Hollywood peers have begun spreading the news of his disappearance via social-networking sites. Alyssa Milano , Kevin Smith , Alyson Hannigan and Sarah Silverman have all sent out updates from their Twitter accounts about the developing situation. Lance Miccio, a producer and director who worked numerous times with Koenig, told ABC News that Koenig recently turned down an opportunity to collaborate, saying he didn’t want to work anymore. “He’s been my editor on about 15 projects,” Miccio said. “I told him, ‘Look, I have a new gig, are you interested in working?’ And he said, ‘No, I’m not.’ Then I invited him out for drinks to talk and see where his head was at, because I knew he wasn’t feeling great, and he declined on that.” “I think it’s something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time,” Walter told People of his son’s disappearance, which he doesn’t think had anything to do with drug use. “There’s no single trauma. There’s no episode.”

Depressed Growing Pains Star Andrew Koenig Vanishes in Vancouver

The parents of Andrew Koenig —who played Growing Pains neighbor Boner Stabone—say their son was ” suffering from depression ” at the time of his disappearance. Last seen on Valentine’s Day, the star was in Vancouver. Koenig—who hails from a Hollywood family (his father was Chekov in Star Trek )—was last seen February 14, when he stayed at the home of Vancouver burlesque star Jenny Magenta , who has since updated her MySpace status to “anxious” and tweeted about suicidal friends . Koenig was scheduled to return to the U.S. on February 16 . On that day, his phone received a text message (the content of which has not been made public) and has since been turned off. The Associated Press reports that a police statement said Koenig “has recently been despondent and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being.” Previously, Koenig made Olympics-related headlines when he protested China’s human rights violations during the Beijing Summer Olympics. This probably has nothing to do with the current situation, but in the face of frightening uncertainty, clinging to the few facts we do have seldom hurts. Paramore’s ‘Exception’ Video Features Fans’ Valentines

Band solicited homemade cards for clip. By Kyle Anderson Paramore’s Hayley Williams in “The Only Exception” Photo: Warner Music Group Paramore have been steadily evolving since their breakout album Riot! dropped in 2007. On their latest album, Brand New Eyes, their sound grows in multiple directions. The disc even features a rarity for the band: a ballad, called “The Only Exception.” The group’s music videos have grown as well, from the basic performance piece that was “Ignorance” to the more elaborate effects-based “Brick by Boring Brick.” Their latest video — for “The Only Exception,” which premiered on their official Web site on Wednesday — sees the band exploring narrative in a way they never have before. The clip opens with singer Hayley Williams waking up on a couch next to a guy and writing a note that says “I’m sorry.” From there she walks to the next room and hugs a guy who, based on the lyrics, is probably meant to be her father. The video continues with Williams in her room staring into the mirror, singing about how love doesn’t exist. She then moves through a costume closet and into a restaurant set, where a rotating cast of guys pose as her date. In a cool transition, she moves into the next room, where there’s a wedding (everybody is wearing white, but Williams comes dressed in black). She flees the scene when the bride enters. During the chorus, the clip cuts to the coolest scene in the whole video: Williams sings the song’s chorus (“Darling, you are the only exception”) while lying down on a giant pile of homemade Valentine’s Day cards (as opposed to the official Paramore Valentines ). According to Williams’ Twitter , the cards were solicited by the band and sent in by fans. In the video’s final moments, Williams spots her dream guy in the crowd at a rock show (the same dude she woke up next to in the opening scene), fantasizes about them together and makes her way back through the various rooms to the original set. She returns to the couch where dream guy is still asleep. “The Only Exception” is Paramore’s most ambitious and mature video yet, matching its action to the advanced sentiment of the lyrics, which paint Williams as a cynic who doesn’t believe in love but is willing to make an exception for the right person. It’s another win for a band that just keeps coming up victorious. Related Artists Paramore

Now Is the Time to Cheat on Your Spouse: Why February Is Married Sexbomb Crazy Time

The week after Valentine’s Day is boom time for Ashley Madison , the eHarmony of adultery. Spring may be for the birds and the bees, but the barren wasteland of late February is when husbands’n’wives get horny and start busting out. I clicked on Marginalizer’s tip to BroBible’s interview of Ashley Madison founder Noel Biderman expecting a fratty fistbump of the “fuck yeah, I tapped that” variety. (Isn’t that what “Bros” do?) But the fistbumps were minimal and the content was interesting. Especially this part: I read that there is typically a spike in female membership right after Valentine’s Day. Any reason as to why this happens? There’s always a spike after anytime an expectation is set and not met. Valentine’s Day is a great example. Both men and women go into this with a lot of expectation about romance and sex and a lot of times that goes unfulfilled. So that now becomes the catalyst for seeking someone else. Spring is for the nubile, young, and unattached (prom, spring break, the annual shedding of heavy winter layers for skimpier fare) but winter is the season of wedded discontent. It’s cold and boring, which is always conducive to sitting indoors, overthinking things—which is, in turn, conducive to convincing yourself you need change. The holiday season made you cranky; New Year’s forced you to evaluate how you spent the last year of your life. By the time Valentine’s Day rolls around, you’re in full-on “think about our relationship” mode which sometimes leads to renewed love! Other times, it leads to realizing how much he or she sucks. So what do you do? Let us move now to OKCupid’s fantastic blog, OKTrends , where this week’s statistical analysis of the dating site’s population proves why older women are a sexual goldmine . OKTrends also includes a bunch of interactive graphs proving that older women want more and kinkier sex while being safer about it than the youngs. Then, they debunk the myth that younger women being categorically hotter their elders by treating hotness-evaluating polls to various statistical alchemies. Conclusion: The wintertime reentry of married elders (particularly female married elders) to the dating pool means more and wilder times than young unmarrieds like myself can even fathom.
