The Vampire Diaries’ has cast its latest bad guy, the immortal and mysterious Silas. Actor Scott Parks has been cast in the role, which will be pivotal this spring. It was unclear, given the events of the past few episodes – warning, Vampire Diaries spoilers ahead! – if the ancient witch would ever reveal his true self. Silas can take on any form, an ability he’s already put to good use and surely will again as the CW series’ fourth season gears up for its finale May 16. With the casting of Parks, however, we now know he will be seen in his original body at least once, though it’s not clear when or for how long. That’s The Vampire Diaries for you! The Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev made a fan’s life – and fortunately, she’ll have a lot more of it after a successful lung transplant. Nina and Ian, maybe the world’s hottest on-and-off-screen couple, paid a visit to 14-year-old Kayla Miller in the hospital, where they posed for this pic: “Sending congratulations to @kayla_0507 and her family. We all secreted this. Her life has been saved. I’m smiling ear to ear,” Dobrev wrote on WhoSay . The Vampire Diaries fan had her life-saving surgery last weekend. Luckily, no heart attack ensued when Somerhalder leaned in. It’s not clear how the duo linked up with the fan at a Toronto hospital, although the actress hails from the Canadian city. In any case, it’s pretty cool. Nina, 24, and Ian, 34, asked their fans to wish Kayla well, too. “Id like to ask everyone who reads this to send out positive energy to @Kayla_0507 tonight,” Dobrev wrote on Wednesday. “Just take one moment of your time. “Think of her and put it out there in the universe. Think happy thoughts.” “Smile 🙂 The secret … We can make anything happen.” Ian Somerhalder added: “Support @Kayla_0507 & her dream to run w/ the Run aLung – it takes place May 11 in Cambridge on Bob McMullen trail! http://runalung.ca.” Best of all? Kayla’s mother wrote on Facebook that her daughter had received a new left lung and “will be able to function as a normal 14 year old girl.”
Earlier this year, The Vampire Diaries announced a spinoff, The Originals . Now, ABC Family has announced a Pretty Little Liars spinoff of its own. It’ll be called Ravenswood! The spinoff will premiere this October on ABC Family and its main characters will be introduced via the PLL Halloween special, according to reports. Ann Curry feels betrayed by NBC and Matt Lauer and just wishes her former Today colleague would shut his yap, according to a new tabloid report. This week, he admitted the show messed up firing Curry – or at least how it was handled – but he also made other comments that were less flattering. He told the Daily Beast that she wasn’t his first choice to replace Meredith Vieira, and that he lobbied for Katie Couric to rejoin the show instead. The two were even prepared to team up on a syndicated daytime show, but negotiations broke down and Katie went to ABC, while Matt stayed put. Caught in the crossfire – as she was back then – is Ann. “Ann just wants to move on from her departure from Today, and she has,” says a source. “However, she isn’t allowed to give any media interviews.” “Ann was infuriated by Matt’s comments. The network has said from the onset of Ann’s demotion from the show that Matt had no power over the decision.” “Yet, in the same interview he admits to talking to Katie Couric for over a year. Clearly, Matt has a lot of clout to be engaged in high level talks of a potential hire!” “It’s just another slap in Ann’s face.” How involved is he? Lauer was solely responsible for Curry’s ouster, according to some sources, while others describe his role as less substantive. Today , after a 16-year lead over Good Morning America , fell to #2 behind ABC’s morning show last year, and the gap only widened after Ann Curry’s firing . Particularly bothersome to Curry, allegedly, “is the outpouring of public support being given to Matt Lauer from the network brass at NBC.” “She just hasn’t had that at all. Ann was fired from the show and essentially sent off to Siberia. Ann’s on-air time has been drastically slashed.” “She knows that NBC has no plans to let her out of her contract, and so she will just try and make the best of a bad situation,” the insider added. Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are getting married soon … according to a tabloid report. Sources close to the couple are singing a different electro-pop tune. Rumors of a possible wedding surfaced after a close friend of Gaga’s, DJ Starlight, was quoted by the Sun (UK) saying the actor and model is “the one.” “From all I’ve heard, I don’t think I’m dropping a secret by saying they are ready to get hitched this year,” her pal said, hinting that it was going down this summer. Not so fast. Consider that nothing more than hearsay, says an E! source, who says they are “absolutely not” getting married in the next few months. Well okay then. They are going strong, at least. The couple got together back in the summer of 2011 after the 31-year-old Taylor appeared in her “You and I” music video. He was on a break from The Vampire Diaries at the time, and they’ve been an adorable and stable item – however unlikely it seems – ever since. Now I don’t watch The Vampire Diaries , because I’m not a 14-year-old girl, but I’m told this Grace Phipps chick is on the show. Which I guess makes sense, because she does look like she could use some sun. I’ve never done a post on her before, but between the see-through shirt, the nipple-itis and the leggings, she’s making a great first impression.
