Pen a 10-Word Review To Win a Signed Copy of Stephenie Meyer’s The Host

After introducing the world to Bella Swan and Edward Cullen in her 2005 global hit novel Twilight (thus launching a multi-billion-dollar franchise, which draws to an end in November’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 ), author Stephenie Meyer wrote the sci-fi best-seller The Host , about human heroine Melanie Stryder, the alien “soul” who comes to inhabit her, and the dual lives and loves they have while sharing the same body. With a Saoirse Ronan -starring adaptation set for 2013, now’s the perfect chance to give The Host a read. Get your shot at winning a signed copy of the book by entering Movieline’s latest 10-word review contest! Contest ends Monday, June 25 at 5pm ET/2pm PT — so get to reviewing! About The Host : Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed. When Melanie, one of the few remaining “wild” humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Wanderer probes Melanie’s thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer’s mind with visions of the man Melanie loves—Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body’s desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love. The Host , directed by Andrew Niccol and co-starring Diane Kruger, William Hurt, Jake Abel, and Max Irons, hits theaters on March 29, 2013.

WonderCon Preview: Aliens And Spiders And Zombies, Oh My!

Annual convention welcomes talent from ‘Prometheus,’ ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ and more. By Kara Warner Kristen Stewart in “Snow White and the Huntsman” Photo: Universal Pictures Although summer blockbuster season is still a few months away, the lucky fans making the trek to WonderCon this weekend in Anaheim, California, will be getting a very special sneak preview of a few of the summer’s most-anticipated films. The annual comic book, sci-fi and fantasy fest kicked off Friday (March 16) and continues through the weekend with an action-packed schedule of events that include panel discussions, artist meet-and-greets, costume competitions and, of course, movie previews. MTV News will be making the trek down to the Con for a full day of preview presentations and interviews with some very special guests. Here’s a quick preview of what to expect from the studios and films scheduled to appear at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday: 20th Century Fox : “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” and “Prometheus” Fox will debut exclusive new footage and the stars and filmmakers from two of the most buzzed-about films this year at the Con. “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” is the tale of one of America’s most beloved historical figures reinvented as a vampire-killer, and star Benjamin Walker, director Timur Bekmambetov and writer Seth Grahame-Smith will be on hand to discuss it. “Prometheus” marks the highly anticipated return of director Ridley Scott to his “Aliens” origins, although the extent of which we are unsure because the film is shrouded in secrecy. Sir Scott will be joined by screenwriter Damon Lindelof and stars Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron. Universal : “Snow White and the Huntsman” and “Battleship” First-time feature director Rupert Sanders will present a never-before-seen reel of footage from “Huntsman” alongside star Charlize Theron. “I’m going to present a piece that I’ve cut specifically for WonderCon, a five-minute piece that is very different from anything else that’s been seen,” Sanders told MTV News recently. “We made our announcements at Comic-Con and just over a year later, it’s been a quick turnaround on this project, so it’s going to be nice to go back to WonderCon this time and show them an original piece, tailored specifically for them.” Fans will also get an exclusive look at new footage from “Battleship,” presented by director Peter Berg, Brooklyn Decker and Alexander Skarsgard. Sony : “The Amazing Spider-Man,” “Looper,” and “Resident Evil: Retribution” Sony is set to get your Spidey sense tingling with a sneak peek at new footage from director Marc Webb’s interpretation of the web slinger’s origins as portrayed by Andrew Garfield. Webb will be joined by star and current “it” girl Emma Stone. Fans will also receive a first look at the intriguing sci-fi thriller “Looper,” in which time travel is utilized by hired killers. Writer/director Rian Johnson will make an appearance with star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays a young version of Bruce Willis’ character in the film. Sony is also sending up a sneak peek of the latest installment in the “Resident Evil” franchise, “Resident Evil: Retribution,” with director Paul W.S. Anderson and star Milla Jovovich. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Trailer Released

Brace yourselves: The trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has arrived! Yes, this is a real movie. The subject matter of which is explained by the title. The absurd movie mash-up of historical drama and vampire horror stars Benjamin Walker as our nation’s greatest president, haunted by the death of his mother at a young age, a horrific tragedy blamed on the blood suckers … fictionally of course. We think. He devotes his life, and ends up President of the United States, as part of an all-out quest to eradicate vampires from the world. The Vampire Diaries should really consider an Abe Lincoln plot line at some point. Watch the trailer below … Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Trailer

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Trailer: History Lessen

Here’s a trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter , the forthcoming Timur Bekmambetov film featuring our 16th president as an axe-wielding killer of the undead. There’s not much more to say that you can’t derive from the super slo-mo, mega-loud hyperviolence promised herein. America’s youth has got to get its history from somewhere, I guess. The film opens June 22.
