Malia Brooks – a 32-year old teacher at Garden Grove Elementary School in Simi Valley, California – was arrested this week on charges that she conducted multiple sex act with a minor. The identity of the victim is being withheld, but he is reportedly a sixth grader under the age of 14. Brooks, meanwhile, is divorced with two children and her defense attorney has already claimed she suffers from some kind of mental illness. According to KTLA, authorities were notified of Brooks’ alleged conduct by the Simi Valley Unified School District in February. Brooks was placed on administrative leave at that time and police have been conducting and investigation ever since. She resigned from her teaching post a few days prior to her June 10 arrest and school district officials are cooperating with Simi Police in the case.
Montia Marie Parker, an 18-year old student at Hopkins High School in Minnesota, is facing felony charges for allegedly pimping out a 16-year girl with developmental issues. The cheerleader is accused of setting up a Backpage.com ad for the younger student; driving this girl to a man’s apartment for oral sex; and pocketing the $60 she made from the act. According to The Minnesota Star Tribune , the victim’s mother called the police after discovering disturbing text messages on her daughter’s phone. Parker posted photos of the girl on Backpage.com, along with her own phone number for anyone who wanted to get in contact about a meeting. Following the aforementioned oral sex incident (in which Parker deposited the $60 into her bank account), the 18-year old reportedly pretended to be the younger girl’s daughter, calling the school to get her excused and taking the girl to have sex with another client. But she refused this time. Parker has admitted to creating the Backpage ad and is fee on $50,000 bond. She is due to appear in court June 12.

Forced Sex Victim Subject Of Documentary According to Mail Online The brave fight of a gang forced sex victim shunned by her rural Pakistani village for accusing her alleged attackers is now the subject of a heartbreaking documentary. Kainat Soomro was labelled a ‘kari’, or ‘black virgin’, and her own family ordered to kill her in order to rid themselves of shame after she said she was attacked by four men as a 13-year-old in 2007. But the teenager’s relatives refused to turn their back on Kainat, and vowed to support her as she took the extraordinary step of fighting for justice in defiance of moral laws that have been in place in Pakistan for centuries. The years that have passed since Kainat’s nightmare ordeal have proved no less difficult, with her family forced out of their village, Dadu, amid threats of violence and murder. Her father and one of her brothers were beaten, while an older brother disappeared for three months before being found murdered. Kainat’s pursuit of the case through a legal system which places the burden of proof on the victim ended with her alleged attackers being acquitted. Kainat and her family, who now live in a cramped two bedroom apartment in Karachi, say they have ‘lost everything’, a report on news.com.au said. A documentary, called Outlawed in Pakistan, tells the story of Kainat’s fight for justice against the odds. The documentary, first unveiled at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, aired for the first time on U.S. television last week. ‘They told me I am not a real man,’ Kainat’s brother, Sabir, tells film-makers Habiba Nosheen and Hilke Schellmann. ‘[that] you failed to follow your tradition, you failed to kill your sister.’ Viewers watch as Kainat hires a lawyer, makes television appearances and appeals against court decisions. But despite her persistence, the film’s narrator tells how the judge describes her accusations as ‘a product of her own fantasy’. Following their acquittal, the men she accused wonder why she didn’t just stay home ‘and keep quiet’. An incident that took place in Josephine County, Oregon last August – but only just surfaced in the news late last week – has shed light on just how dangerous local budget cuts can be. With her ex-boyfriend attempting to break into her home, an unidentified victim called 911 and was told by the operator: “I don’t have anybody to send out there… can you ask him to go away? Do you know if he’s intoxicated or anything?” The attacker did eventually make his way into the residence. He then choked and raped the woman before fleeing and being arrested hours later for kidnapping and sexual abuse, among other charges. The Sheriff’s Department has blamed the lack of a response to a lack of public funding, as 80 percent of local deputies lost their jobs last year after cuts went into effect. “There isn’t a day goes by that we don’t have another victim,” said Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilbertson, explaining that the current force can only handle so many emergencies at a time. So what are residents to do? Gilbertson said in a press release after the budget cuts were made that victims of domestic violence should “consider relocating to an area with adequate police services.”

A man believed to be a British soldier was hacked to death in broad daylight by two men with a cleaver in what officials are calling a terrorist attack. As the victim, dressed in what looked to be a T-shirt for Help for Heroes, a charity for military veterans, lay dying, one of the attackers found a camera. “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone,” said a meat-cleaver-wielding man with bloody hands. London Attack “The only reasons we killed this man … is because Muslims are dying daily,” he added. “This British soldier is an eye for an eye , a tooth for tooth.” One witness, Michael Atlee, described the gruesome, frenzied and ultimately fatal sequence of events Wednesday afternoon as “a bloody mess.” British Prime David Cameron called it a terrorist attack. “We will never buckle to terror,” he wrote on Twitter. A witness, who identified himself only as James, said he saw two men standing by the victim, who was on the ground in the UK capital’s Woolwich neighborhood. “They were hacking at this poor guy, literally,” he told the radio station, as if they were trying to remove his organs. “These two guys were crazed.” “They were just not there. They were just animals.” Afterward, the men appeared to want to be filmed, with one going over to a bus and asking people to take photos of him as if he wanted to be on TV. A man who asked not to be identified told police that he was on his way to a job interview when he came up on the scene and started filming it. Father Stabs Future Son-In-Law Nine Times According to DNA Info Chicago A suburban man was arrested and charged after he stabbed his daughter’s fiance with a knife nine times on the Far South Side in November, prosecutors said Sunday. Claude Jones, 50, of the 2000 block of Georgetown Lane in Waukegan, was charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon. Jones got into an argument with his future son-in-law in the 8900 block of South Aberdeen Street in Washington Heights on Nov. 8, 2012, according to court documents. Jones struck his future son-in-law in the head, and they started fighting, Assistant State’s Attorney Christina Brewer said. Prosecutors did not give details in court as to what the two were arguing about. The victim was stabbed nine times, Brewer said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where Brewer said he required 32 stitches for stab wounds to his chest, shoulders and back. His age was not available. Jones was arrested at his home and identified as the attacker by the victim on Friday, six months after the stabbing, according to court documents. Then he looked inside and found what he describes as a “racial slur toward blacks,” written on the inside cover. A total of 16 black residents along North Mulberry and Springmill Streets and Vale Avenue received the marred Bibles on Sunday, according to the Mansfield Police Department. “At first I said good, because I can use another Bible, but when I opened it to see who it came from it just had a nasty statement in there,” Jones said. “I thought someone was saying it to me, but then I saw it on other porches, so I called police.” A few doors down, Lillian Webb had the same initial reaction. “I thought someone was trying to be funny, saying I need to read the Bible,” Webb said. “After I read (the slur), I thought, who would write that in a Bible?” Across the street, the Friendly House received three Bibles, director Terry Conard said. Bibles also showed up at two vacant houses on either side of Webb. Nine of the King James Holy Bibles were recovered Monday morning after Jones called in the complaint. Six more were found by police canvassing the area Wednesday. The same slur was “neatly” written in neon colors, according to victims. SMMFH @ “neatly” Police are classifying the act as ethnic intimidation, meaning the racial slur was meant to threaten and intimidate residents, Capt. Ken Coontz said. Those responsible could face menacing charges, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. If tied to ethnic motivations, the charge could increase the offense to a third-degree misdemeanor, or up to 60 days in jail, he said.
