The woman who recently organized an awareness campaign that came under heavy scrutiny for featuring two military moms breastfeeding in uniform has been fired. Crystal Scott, an Army veteran, military spouse, and breastfeeding advocate, was axed from her civilian job as an X-ray technician, her lawyer confirms. Also the program director of the Mom2Mom breastfeeding awareness group at Fairchild Air Force Base, Scott was fired by Schryver Medical June 1. Why? According to Crystal’s attorney, the company – a provider of X-rays, EKGs, ultrasounds, and other medical digital imaging services – had a clear agenda: “She was fired due to her passion about the Mom2Mom breastfeeding campaign, gender equality and women’s rights,” Patricia (Pat) K. Buchanan said. The company says it’s nothing like that at all. “This kind of took us by surprise,” Schryver Medical’s president, Jay Schryver, told Yahoo on the phone Friday. He issued a formal statement soon after: “Crystal Scott was terminated by the company on June 1st for various legitimate employment-related reasons,” he wrote in the statement. “Amongst other things, on the day prior to her termination, Ms. Scott had clocked in to the company’s timekeeping system and had been assigned time-sensitive tasks that were wholly ignored.” “Thereafter, Ms. Scott ignored the company’s repeated attempts to contact her to inquire as to her whereabouts and status of her job assignments.” “When the company finally did get a hold of Ms. Scott, she informed them that she was sick and would not be working.” “Based on company records – including GPS data from a company van that had been assigned to her – Ms. Scott was actually at a local media outlet conducting personal business, on company time, using company equipment as transportation.” “Schryver Medical can certainly understand the excitement Ms. Scott experienced in being courted by the media, both on a personal level and as a means to effectively promote her cause,” he continued. “That said, those circumstances simply do not excuse her from violating the reasonable expectations of her employer.”
NFL star Pacman Jones, the poster child for pro athletes behaving badly, must pay $11.6 MILLION in damages to the victims of a Las Vegas strip club shooting. Pacman (real name Adam) had been sued by Aaron Cudworth and Thomas Urbanski, two security guards who were shot outside Minxx strip club in February 2007. The now-famous incident began when Jones “made it rain” with THOUSANDS of $1 bills … then got pissed when a stripper began taking it without his permission. A fight ensued outside the club and three people were shot, including Cudworth and Urbanski. Pacman was sued, even though he was not the actual shooter. A Nevada jury found Pacman Jones responsible and awarded Cudworth $1.3 million in damages. Urbanski, who was paralyzed from the waist down, got $9.6 million. Urbanski’s wife sued for loss of marital relations and won $750,000. At the time Pacman pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct, receiving just a year’s probation and 200 hours of community service. The door-knocking in California might be on hiatus for a little while… Judge Rules That Jehovah’s Witness Group Pay $20 Million To Sexually Abused Woman In what both sides described as a momentous ruling, a jury in Oakland, Calif., has found that Jehovah’s Witnesses was partly responsible for the alleged sexual abuse of a girl by one of its members and must pay her more than $20 million. The Alameda County Superior Court jury on Thursday awarded $21 million in punitive damages to the plaintiff, who is now 26 years old. That was on top of the $7 million in compensatory damages it awarded her on Wednesday. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ legal entity, is responsible for the entire punitive damages amount and 40 percent of the compensatory damages, said Rick Simons, attorney for the plaintiff. Sixty percent of the compensatory damages was assessed against Jonathan Kendrick, the man accused of abusing her. Candace Conti sued Watchtower, the Fremont, Calif., congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and Kendrick in 2011. It’s msnbc.com’s policy not to identify victims of sexual abuse, but Conti agreed to be identified so that any other victims would feel they could come forward too. “The ultimate goal of the lawsuit was to have a change in policy, to be able to ID these people, child molesters, to the congregation to protect children,” Conti told msnbc.com. “Secondarily, to have silent ones come forward and tell their stories and to bring to light that overall issue of violence and the hush-hush policy.” Both her parents were Watchtower congregation members at the time of the abuse, she said. “I was trying to be the best Jehovah’s Witness I could be at that time,” she told msnbc.com. WTF?!? Is NOTHING sacred anymore?? Jim McCabe, attorney for the Fremont congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, said that he was “stunned” by the verdict and would appeal. “This is the first case I know of where a church has been hit with liability involving a rank-and-file member,” he told msnbc.com. “Mr. Simons has his twist on the facts and we will see how a court of appeals views the trial court rulings and the evidence,” McCabe said. The jury found that the elders who managed the Fremont congregation in the 1990s and who were under the supervision of Watchtower knew that Kendrick, a member, had recently been convicted of the sexual abuse of another child, but they kept his past record secret from the congregation, said Simons. Kendrick went on to molest the plaintiff, who was a Jehovah’s Witness member in Fremont, over a two-year period beginning when she was 9 years old, the lawsuit contended. Kendrick was eventually convicted in 2004 of the sexual abuse of another girl, and is now a registered sex offender in California, Simons said. He has not been criminally charged with abusing the plaintiff, but Simons said the case is under investigation by law enforcement. We’re glad that this young woman got SOME restitution for the suffering she has endured for so many years. Details On Deadly Plane Crash In Nigeria Via CNN: The pilot of the Dana Air plane that crashed into a densely populated neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria, radioed that the plane was having trouble just minutes earlier, an airline official told CNN on Monday. The details emerged as search and rescue crews worked to recover bodies from the wreckage, while authorities searched for the flight data recorders to try to piece together what brought down the plane Sunday, killing all 153 people aboard and at least 10 on the ground. The death toll will probably rise as crews search the rubble of a two-story residential building that the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 plane struck. It was unclear how many people were inside the building and on the street outside at the time of the crash, Mohammad Sani Sidi, the emergency management director, told CNN from the crash site. The pilot declared an emergency as the plane was on final approach to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and witnesses said it appeared the plane was having engine trouble, said Oscar Wason, Dana Air’s director of operations. Wason identified the pilot as an American, but did not release his name or hometown. The co-pilot was from India, and the flight engineer from Indonesia, Wason said. Among the dead are six Chinese citizens who were on board the flight, the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria said Monday. According to witnesses, the passenger plane appeared to be coming in high with its nose up when it crashed, hitting the ground tail first, Wason said. The flight, bound from the Nigerian capital of Abuja, crashed at 3:43 p.m. (10:43 a.m. ET) in the neighborhood of Iju Ishaga, just north of the airport, according to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. The crash site was 11 miles from the runway, Wason said. The Nigerian aviation authority has not asked Dana Air to ground its planes, though the airline canceled all its flights Monday as show of respect for the victims of the crash, he said. Dana Air, which is privately owned and based in Lagos, began operations in 2008. Nigeria’s deadliest air disaster came in July 1991, when all 261 on board a Nigerian Airways airliner were killed when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff in Saudi Arabia. On Saturday, a Boeing 727 cargo plane operated by Nigeria-based Allied Air from Lagos overshot the runway in Accra, Ghana, and hit a passenger bus, killing 10 people, officials said. Dana Air set up a 24-hour hotline to provide information about the Sunday crash. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of guests who were involved in the Dana Air mishap,” the airline posted on its website. “May the souls of the deceased rest in peace.” Lagos, with a population of more than 7.9 million people, is one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. 6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Northern Italy A strong earthquake rocked a large swathe of northern Italy early on Sunday, killing at least four people, injuring dozens and seriously damaging historic buildings such as churches, bell towers and a medieval castle. The 6.0-magnitude quake was centered 22 miles north-northwest of Bologna in northern Italy at a relatively shallow depth of 6.3 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey website. It struck at about 4 a.m. local time and was followed about an hour later by one of 5.1 magnitude thet causded more damage and more buildings to collapse, officials and witnesses said. “I ran out in my underwear,” one man told Italian television. The epicenter of the quake, the strongest to hit Italy in three years, was in the plains near Modena in the Emilia-Romagna region of the Po river valley, and the tremor was felt as far west as Liguria, bordering France, and the Friuli region bordering Slovenia. There was serious damage to historic buildings and churches in the provinces of Modena and Ferrara, and the quake also shook major towns such as Bologna, Rovigo, Verona and Mantua. A series of strong aftershocks hit the area, the strongest measuring 5.1, and local mayors ordered residents to stay in the open. The last major quake to hit Italy was a 6.3 magnitude quake in the central city of L’Aquila in 2009, which killed nearly 300 people. After that quake, then Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi moved a G8 meeting that was to have been held in Sardinia to near L’Aquila in a show of solidarity with the victims. Source

Junior’s GF Megan Noderer (below) is so hysterical during the call she can hardly speak — claiming she had just returned from the gym (around 10AM) when she discovered Junior’s bloody body. Megan tells the dispatcher, Junior wasn’t breathing when she arrived and had appeared to have shot himself “in the heart.” Authorities responded and attempted to revive Seau, but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. Guess they didn’t respond well to “Here, Kitty Kitty” . According to RadarOnline.com : British woman was savagely attacked by two cheetahs recently while enjoy “a trip of a lifetime” to a South African wildlife park. But what was probably more painful was the fact that her husband took pictures of the whole ordeal rather than rushing to her aid! Violet D’Mello, 60, went to pet the purportedly tame animals as permitted. But she was left traumatized when she was mauled by the cheetahs, suffering injuries to her head, stomach and legs and nearly losing an eye. One of the guides at the Kragga Kamma game reserve immediately intervened and managed to get one of the felines off of Violet. But then the other one joined in the frightening melee and pinned the Aberdeen woman to the ground. Several of the guests apparently tried to pull the animals off as the quick-thinking woman tried to play dead. While the whole three-minute ordeal was going on, Violet’s 64-year-old husband Archie took photos of the entire attack – rather than run to help his wife. The startling images, which you can see here on RadarOnline.com, show blood pouring from the woman’s head, arms and legs. The cheetahs are also seen staring at the woman like she was a piece of meat that they were going to devour until there was just a carcass left. In a creepy foreshadowing of what is about to occur, Violet is seen petting one of the cheetahs who is laying down licking his lips. Park manager Mike Cantor, who raised the four-year-old cheetah brothers Mark and Monty, said that “everyone has been traumatized by it all.” Eight-year-old Camryn Malan was also caught up in the attack and needed stitches in her leg from the cheetah bites. Astonishingly, Cantor maintains that the cheetahs just wanted to “play.” “I have grown up with these cheetahs and they are not aggressive animals,” Cantor said. “It is almost like they wanted to play with the woman. What happened was that a young girl got a bit uptight and then ran away and the cheetah grabbed her by the leg.” Not surprisingly, Violet told South Africa’s Herald newspaper that the incident was a “nightmare.” “It really came from nowhere and I was totally helpless. The doctor at the hospital said cheetahs usually aim for the stomach area and disembowel their victims, so I was lucky to be alive,” she said. The petting part of the park has been shut down pending an investigation. This gives the term “gut full of human” a whole new meaning. And we can only make that joke because she’s ok! Think about all the various forms of magic cropping up all over the Seven Kingdoms: the crippled Brandon Stark is able to walk again by way of his wolf dreams. North of the Wall, humanoid monsters with voices like crackling ice exist, with the ability to raise their victims from the dead. And across the Narrow Sea, the first dragons to be born in decades are beginning to grow under the love and care of exiled princess Daenerys Targaryen. And now, on top of all of that, we have … a shadow baby?! Needless to say, episode four of the fantasy series’ second season, “Garden of Bones,” was a strange one. Hungry Like the Wolf Robb Stark is a hugely important part of “A Clash of Kings,” the novel upon which season two is based. That’s not the case on “Game of Thrones.” Here, Robb is fully present, as seen in the opening moments of “Garden of Bones.” Robb’s direwolf, Grey Wind, grows stronger with every battle, and Robb’s skills as a tactician and leader of men are improving at the same pace. This latest episode also pulled the curtain back on something not seen in the books, but hugely important to Robb’s character: a little trace of love. But that nurse on the battlefield does not go by the name Jeyne Westerling as she does in the books; indeed, as she presents herself, she’s hardly a noble-born woman at all. Is it just an alias for now, a parlor trick that Jeyne is playing? Or has “Thrones” altered Robb’s love interest in a seriously significant way? The Greatest City in the World Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Qarth! At long last, Dany and her khalasar have reached civilization. Arya, Gendry and Hot Pie found themselves at the mercy of the Tickler and the Mountain in this week’s episode, watching the pair interrogate their prisoners to death with a disturbingly clever combination of a rat, a bucket and a torch. Not pretty stuff. Even the arrival of Tywin Lannister is hardly a mercy; he’s more civilized than their initial captors, sure, but he’s a Lannister all the same. On the bright side, now Arya has a few more names to add to her people-to-kill list alongside Queen Regent Cersei and her wicked son Joffrey. Draining the Poison Speaking of Joffrey, he’s just getting worse and worse with each episode, if you can believe it. From beheading Ned Stark to threatening Sansa’s life with a crossbow held at point-blank range, Joffrey’s wicked ways seem to know no bounds. And that’s not even the worst of it: The way he made the two prostitutes purchased for him by Tyrion torture each other was absolutely sickening to watch. Joffrey is easily one of the most loathsome characters in all of “Ice and Fire” lore, if not the most loathsome — and believe it or not, he’s even more unlikable on the show. Brutal, brutal, brutal. Shadow Baby! While the latest episode of “Thrones” ended the show’s three-week kid-killing streak , it made up for the combo-breaker by having us witness the priestess Melisandre give birth to a shadow baby. A shadow baby. Clearly, it’s a bit more complicated than that, but it’s strange and horrific to behold all the same. If you ever doubted that Melisandre has magic at her disposal, doubt her no longer. Perhaps she hasn’t backed the right horse in the race for the Iron Throne, but she definitely has formidable power on her side, as Davos can attest to firsthand. As for where that shadow baby’s headed next? Readers of the books certainly know — and if you haven’t read the books, well, keep the Kleenex on hand. You’re going to need it.
