Russell Brand is doing well, thank you. Returning to his roots – bachelorhood, plus standup comedy – is the ideal way to move on from his marriage to Katy Perry , which ended this winter after 14 months. To hear Russell tell it, he has no reason not to be well. Waxing philosophical about life, he says, “You don’t need to brush it off if you don’t get it on you in the first place,” he says, not specifically defining what “it” is. The 36-year-old sounds downright zen in adding, “I don’t have to let anything go. I don’t hold on to anything negative. It’s the same as zero-ness.” Asked if that’s part of his yoga philosophy , Brand notes. “It’s not about letting it go,” he says. “You can’t let go of something you don’t hold, you know. It’s meaningless, [and] much of our world is predicated on meaninglessness. And I just don’t do that anymore.” As for his upcoming late-night show, which is due later this year on FX? “It’s a standup comedy show. We’ll talk about current affairs and analyze and deconstruct the media of the day and approach news from a humanitarian and spiritual angle, whilst keeping it simultaneously and continuously humorous.” It will be Brand’s first major foray into American TV, though he’s done guest spots and hosting gigs such as the MTV Video Music Awards. Two weeks ago, Brand also made news when he was arrested in New Orleans for allegedly grabbing a photographer’s iPhone and tossing it. That, too, he says, is “meaningless to me. It’s like it never happened. It’s meaningless.” And reports that he’s had a “Katy Perry” tattoo removed? “Nope,” he says. “Never had a tattoo removed. Never happened.” This concludes our Russell Brand update. It’s been a good one!
Late singer’s top MTV Moments, from the VMA stage to an all-access interview. By Christina Garibaldi Whitney Houston in MTV News’ “All Access: Whitney Houston” special Photo: MTV Whitney Houston was one of the most iconic stars of all time. She commanded the stage, captivated audiences on the big screen and was celebrated around the world. Now, as her fans continue to mourn her shocking death Saturday and details continue to emerge , MTV News is celebrating the life and legacy of a true icon as we look back at Houston’s top five MTV moments. 1986: Whitney Houston Makes Video Music Awards Debut : She was just 23 years old when she performed and won at the third-ever MTV Video Music Awards in 1986 . Houston took home her first ever Moonman, winning the award for Best Female Video for her hit single “How Will I Know” . She later went on to perform a classic rendition of the song, flowing into a flawless performance of her power ballad “The Greatest Love of All,” which left the crowd in awe and on their feet. 1996: Whitney Houston Performs at the Movie Awards : By 1996, Houston already proved to the world that not only did she have one of the most remarkable voices in music, but that she could make it in Hollywood as well. Houston starred opposite Kevin Costner in box-office smash “The Bodyguard,” which won her the 1993 MTV Movie Award for Best Song from a Movie for “I Will Always Love You.” In 1996 , she returned to the Movie Awards to perform “Why Does it Hurt So Bad,” a single off the soundtrack to her second film, “Waiting to Exhale.” 1998: Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey Face-Off : Rumored rivals Houston and Mariah Carey took the stage at the 1998 Video Music Awards in the same “one-of-a-kind” dress. In a comedic stand-off, the two divas both tore away the hem of their gowns, turning their matching designs into two different stylish looks. Clearly, there was no diva competition between the two, since later that year, Carey and Houston teamed up again, this time in the studio, to record the song “When You Believe,” for the animated feature “The Prince of Egypt.” 1999: All Access: Whitney Houston : In November of 1998, Houston released her first album in eight years, My Love is Your Love. After 14 years in the business, the superstar was making a fresh start, showing off a revitalized sound, and embarking on a 70-day My Love Is Your Love World Tour. During three of those stops, she invited along MTV News’ John Norris, and gave him a rare, up-close look at the diva, in the MTV News special, “All Access: Whitney Houston.” 2000: Whitney Houston Makes Memorable Entrance at the VMAs : Now even though troubles began for Whitney Houston that year, she made an electrifying entrance that year at the 2000 Video Music Awards . After a warm introduction by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera , Houston was given a standing ovation as she belted her way onto the stage, showing off her vocal power with an a capella snippet of “I Will Always Love You,” making it one of the most memorable entrances for a Video of the Year presenter ever. Stick with MTV News all for all the Grammy red-carpet fashion , Grammy winners and Grammy news until the hangover wears off! The women of The Bachelorette? Not unattractive. With a new season of The Bachelor underway, it’s only fitting, sort of, that three well-known cast members who went on to dole out the roses themselves cover In Touch Weekly, baring their bikini bodies and sharing their weight loss plans and tips. Okay, it makes no sense. But who’s complaining? Ashley Hebert , who dispatched current Bachelor Ben Flajnik last summer, is prepping for her wedding to JP Rosenbaum with a low-carb diet. Sounds amazing. Ali Fedotowsky, now single and ready to mingle after calling off her engagement to Roberto Martinez, is targeting thigh and butt jiggle. It looks well targeted. Trista Sutter, the standard bearer for successful relationships spawned by a nonsensical reality show, still looks amazing – yet is contemplating a boob job. Not that she needs it and not that you can believe anything you read in In Touch , but that’s all we’ve got for now. Just sit back and enjoy the bikini photos.
Stop us if you’ve heard this before: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are on the verge of a divorce. While this rumor has been out there for months, and while the famous couple has issued a statement saying it is “still together, and our marriage is intact,” talk of a break-up persists – and In Touch Weekly claims to have found more proof that one is imminent. The tabloid reports this week that Jada recently met with celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented stars such as Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, and Kim Kardashian . She’s also currently working with Vanessa Bryan t. The magazine also quotes an insider who says the Smiths have “finally begun to take steps to dissolve their marriage.” Not exactly hardcore evidence, we know. But the longer the chatter goes on, and the less Will and Jada say, the more we start to wonder if Willow and Jaden will be splitting time between two households in the near future. [Photo: WENN.com]
Watch the throne … Steve Jobs. Kanye West, who has never been accused of thinking small, or having a modest opinion of himself, detailed plans for a new production company on Twitter Wednesday. In a three-hour rant, the 34-year-old rapper / hip-hop mogul outlined his plan for Donda, a brand-new, far-reaching company named after his late mother Donda West. Donda will “pick up where Steve Jobs left off,” West said of the late, visionary Apple CEO / founder. Way to set manageable expectations. How will it do that, exactly, Kanye? With 22 divisions of writers, DJs, publicists, designers, musicians, scientists and SO much more, the company headed by the musician will strive to “make products and experiences that people want and can afford,” West Tweeted . He will “help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel,” and “dream of, create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need… To marry our wants and needs.” Again, no baby steps for Mr. West. West hinted that Donda is releasing a “semi sci-fi” film in 2012 called “2016 OLYMPICS.” And that’s not all. West told fans he may become creative director of a Jetsons film and wants to “design” the MTV Video Music Awards. Beyond the worlds of design, film, music, technology and product development, the “N*ggas in Paris” rapper also wants to fix America’s schools, he wrote.
Yes, Beyonce is pregnant and excited for motherhood, but one thing is certain: this artist’s expecting state isn’t slowing her down. Not one bit. Jay-Z’s prettier half released the official music video for “Countdown” earlier this month and now she’s back with “Love on Top.” It’s the same track she sang in August at the MTV Video Music Awards, immediately after announcing to the world that she was with child. Sit back and enjoy the new video now, as Beyonce makes numerous wardrobe changes as the song goes on: Beyonce – Love on Top (Official Video)

A stunning and glowing Beyonce stepped out in New York on Wednesday to launch her new fragrance, Beyonce Pulse. Typically, the superstar artist is a very private person, but when Access Hollywood guest correspondent Jill Martin sat down with her, Beyonce opened up about her other big news (her pregnancy!) and how she came up with the idea to reveal her baby bump at the MTV Video Music Awards last month. “You know, I dreamt it, actually,” Beyonce told Jill of the inspiration behind her pregnancy announcement. “There were so many rumors about me being pregnant every three months for the past couple of years — I thought the best way and classiest way was to just show it. “And my husband and I have been together for 10 years, so I guess people felt a part of it and it makes me feel really good,” she added.
