Source: Rodin Eckenroth / Getty Billy Ray Cyrus Was Forced To Change One Of His Lines On “Old Town Road” Billy Ray Cyrus is known for being a legend in the world of country music–but more recently, he’s been making headlines for everything surrounding his contributions to Lil Nas X’s smash hit, “Old Town Road.” Last week, the legendary musician did an interview with Taste Of Country , where he talked about how he discovered Lil Nas X, what he thought of “Old Town Road” the first time he heard it, why he decided to jump on the song, and more. Beside the usual discussion surrounding the record breaking song, Billy Ray Cyrus also revealed some brand new information about his process when making his contribution. According to the Kentucky native, the writing process for his verse took only about “eight to ten minutes” for him to do in its entirety. Once he was finished putting pen to paper, the record label was mostly happy with it, except for one line. “For some reason I thought it would be funny to say, ‘Baby’s got a habit: diamond rings and marijuana,’” the country singer revealed to Taste Of Country . “See? I thought it was funny. That song could’ve DONE something,” he continued as the hosts laughed. The label ended up coming back to Billy with some simple notes about his verse: “everything but the marijuana.” In the end, after establishing that putting a line about weed in the song probably wouldn’t be their best move, somebody suggested that Billy say “Fendi sports bras” instead of “marijuana.” “And I thought, well, it’s probably good, because I don’t know what that is,” Cyrus explained to the hosts. Here’s how that section of Cyrus’ verse sounds today: “Hat down, cross town, livin’ like a rockstar/ Spent a lot of money on my brand new guitar/ Baby’s got a habit: diamond rings and Fendi sports bras/ Ridin’ down Rodeo in my Maserati sports car” And that’s how we ended up with the “Old Town Road” verse we know and love today. As we all already know by now, Lil Nas X’s single has been breaking non-stop records, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for the 18th week in a row, beating out “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee , featuring Justin Bieber , and “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men , which ruled for 16 weeks each, in 2017 and 1995-96, respectively. Would the song still be just as successful if Billy kept that line about marijuana in there? Who knows. But right now, it’s unstoppable.

Parker Mustian, 16, posted a video last month filled with hateful rhetoric while threatening gun violence against Black men. Local outlet WOLO-TV reports : A local 16-year-old has been charged with ‘Student Threats,’ after videos were shared of him making racial and violent threats. The teen was a student of Cardinal Newman School, but is now banned from the property. Although these events transpired last month, school parents were just made aware of the investigation this past weekend, and now one of the racially-charged videos is going viral on social media. According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, the teen was taken to the juvenile wing of Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on July 17. The 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office said it cannot release any update on the status of the case because it involves a minor. Cardinal Newman Principal Robert Loia says in a letter sent to families Sunday, that it’s important to clarify the timeline surrounding the threatening videos. On July 13, Cardinal Newman School leaders were contacted by a parent of a student that had received a graphic and racist video made by the 16-year-old male student. In the video, the teen is shown shooting a box of Jordan’s, which he says ‘is the favorite pair of shoes for a black man.’ Right. Initially, the sheriff’s department didn’t view Mustian’s video as a criminal act but when Mustian threatened to shoot up the school after being withdrawn by his parents instead of facing expulsion while accepting a ban from its property, only then did police decide to arrest the boy on July 17. The entire world loves photos of Britney Spears. Not bizarrely edited paparazzi photos , but happy, consenting snaps from her life. Now, Britney’s sharing pics of her trip to Disneyland with her two sons. And fans are losing their entire minds about how quickly these boys are growing up. Take a look: “Great time at Disneyland today,” Britney gushed in a captions alongside a series of sweet family snaps. “But,” she confessed. “I don’t remember ever getting that wet on splash mountain.” Britney exclaimed: “!!! Geeez.” Seeing Britney’s sons — and how much they have grown — really drove home for a lot of fans and followers how long it’s been since they saw them. But Britney has a very good explanation for that. “Anyhow my boys are older now,” Britney acknowledged. “So they don’t like their picture taken ever…” We can all remember reaching an age where we suddenly became camera-shy. Some of us never left it. “So,” she continued. “I was thrilled today when they said SURE !!!!!” “Such a great place !!!!!” Britney gushed about Disneyland. Any place where the Britney Spears can go with her sons and have a good time despite her fame and recognizability deserves at least a little praise. What’s nuts about the photos that Britney shared is that it’s a great reminder of how quickly kids grow up. Sean Preston is 13. Jayden James is 12. It’s one thing to know, intellectually, that Britney’s sons are growing up. It’s another thing altogether to see Sean overtaking his mother in height. Both boys are hitting that age where they’re about to shoot up in height. For comparison, here’s a photo of Britney and her boys just a little over a year ago. Their father, Kevin Federline, is 6 feet tall. (See, who says he didn’t bring anything to the table when it comes to the kids — he has height) It’s probably a solid bet that both Sean and Jayden will end up at least that tall, if not taller. Already, they’re changing before our very eyes. Whether it’s a month or six months or a year before they give Britney the go-ahead to share another snap, they’ll both certainly look different. Our favorite thing about these photos isn’t actually Sean or Jayden, precious though they both are. We are always gushing about Britney’s dedication to being a first-rate mom, and this is a great example. So many parents treat their children as objects with no agency of their own. In contrast, Britney cares about consent. If her boys don’t want their photos taken, they aren’t taken. It’s no surprise — because Britney’s more than just a supermom. She knows, maybe better than anyone else on Earth, exactly what a hell it is to go through life with her photo constantly taken without permission. Britney has faced a lot of drama this year. Some of it was rumors stirred up by people claiming to have insider knowledge about her life. Some of it was stirred up by family. Some of it was stirred up by fans. You can say many things about the Kardashians, along with nearly everyone in close proximity to this family. Really. You can. Go right ahead and do so right now. In a new promo for Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 17, which premieres some time this fall, Scott Disick speaks up and out at one point and says the following: “There’s a chance I would’ve had to go to prison.” Wait, what?!? For what possible reason? We have no idea and the preview does not say — and this is likely much ado about nothing at all. But it has still drawn out attention. Elsewhere in this footage, we see how tensions between Tristan Thompson and the Kardashians-Jenners are still lingering after he cheated on Khloé Kardashian with Jordyn Woods, Kylie Jenner‘s longtime best friend forever.
