The Kardashian-Jenner clan has always had trouble staying on message politically. After being hailed as an advocate for the trans community, Caitlyn Jenner stuck by her conservative , Republican views. Kim and Kris supported Hillary in the 2016 presidential election … but then Kanye West met with Donald Trump during the president's shady transition. But no matter where you fall on the Kard clan political spectrum, one thing we can all agree on is that Kendall Jenner's new Pepsi commercial is dumb as hell. The ad seems to be aiming for a tone similar to that of the famous “I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke” commercial of 1971 by acknowledging the current climate of political strife while encouraging unity. But man did it miss the mark by a mile. For an indication of how mind-blowingly tone deaf the spot is, look no further than these side-by-side screengrabs: Yes, that's a bunch of cops recoiling in horror from a black woman while accepting the gift of ice cold Pepsi from Kendall. It's not hard to see why social media responded with a collective WTF? The intention of the ad seems to be to give an approving nod to both protesters and police while … giving Kendall Jenner woke points? We're not really sure. Whatever the intention, having Kenny save the day with with a crispy can of sugar water is just downright confusing. When your ad could've benefited from the social consciousness of Don freakin' Draper, you know you messed up bad.
Shortly after the world learned that Josh Duggar molested five young girls when he was in his teens, the Duggars were beset by yet another scandal involving their eldest son’s sexual impropriety. When the infidelity-facilitating website Ashley Madison was hacked in August of 2015, Josh was revealed to be its most high-profile client. We still don’t know if Josh succeeded in his efforts to cheat on his wife, Anna, but we do know what his intentions were. In the wake of Josh’s second scandal, the Duggars went into damage control mode. Josh was sent to rehab to undergo a “faith-based” course of treatment for his sex addiction, and when he returned home six months later, his family basically kept him hidden from sight. So it would appear that though he avoided jail time for his adolescent sex crimes, Josh learned a hard lesson about fidelity after getting caught cheating on his wife. But as we’ve seen before, the Duggars are in object lesson in the many ways in which appearances can be deceiving. Less than two years after Josh checked into rehab, everything in his life has basically returned to normal. Josh and Anna are expecting their fifth kid ; the rest of the Duggars are back on TV; and while his career as a lobbyist/reality TV star may have come to an end, Josh is reportedly making a fine living for himself as the proprietor of several used car dealerships. Needless to say, fans are growing concerned that any lessons learned might now be forgotten. And their worst fears seem to have been confirmed by recent comments from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar regarding their views on infidelity. The couple frequently speaks at marriage retreats and in a video uploaded yesterday, Colorado-based pastor Kenny Batson recalled an encounter with Jim Bob and Michelle at such an event. Addressing his congregation, Batson recollected: “ At the marriage retreat — Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar helped us do it, and at the end of it, they were getting ready to go home, and Jim Bob caught me out in the hall and says, ‘You know what,’ he says, ‘I have to go back in here and do a little more teaching.’” “What they talked about was this matter right here. Intimacy in marriage. And Michelle said something that I’d never thought, I mean I knew of it but I never thought like she put it. “She said ‘Ladies, your husband can get his laundry done by other women, he can have his meal cooked by other women, he can have all kinds of things done for him by other women, but there’s only one woman who can meet that strong need he has that God put in him, and its you. Only you, lady .’” In the past, the Duggars have been accused of blaming Anna for Josh’s infidelity, and many fans see these latest comments as Michelle’s way of doubling down on those views. Michelle seems to be implying that Josh was simply acting on the “strong need that God put in him” and that Anna wasn’t satisfying his needs in the bedroom. Batson puts an even finer point on it, summing up Michelle’s comments thusly: “It is one of the greatest sins of women today, is a self-centered narcissistic view of how they are to have control of their bodies. The Bible says your body is not your own, sister. It is your husband’s.” They may have figured out a way to present themselves to 21st century television audiences in an inoffensive fashion, but the Duggars views on marriage and a woman’s place in the world remain deeply problematic. The Josh sex scandals briefly brought those views to the surface, and fans were justifiably outraged. But like Jim Bob and Michelle, the Duggars’ most loyal viewers proved very eager to forget. Simply put, however, we've never seen a body transformation before quite like that of June Shannon. And it's clear we aren't alone. In the following clip from this Friday’s Mama June: From Not to Hot , the former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star heads to her ex-home in McIntyre, Georgia to flaunt her new figure for ex-husband Sugar Bear. (The couple split in September of 2014 and share custody of Alana Thompson.) Shannon’s personal trainer, Kenya Crooks, and her daughters come along for support. “Just being back in McIntrye brings back a lot of bad memories. People who haven’t seen me in a couple of years are going to be shocked,” Shannon tells the camera, adding: “Like, what the f-ck am I doing here? “That’s the house that I used to live in with the kids when Alana was little. Yeah, they did a lot of work to the house and it looks better, but it’s still the same damn house. That house doesn’t serve good memories.” Shannon then spots Sugar Bear and says she's “nervous.” How will he react to the woman in front of him? The following clip then depicts Shannon’s legs as she exits the car in a long red dress, along with Sugar Bear’s reaction in a confessional. “Oh, sh-t,” he says. Shannon formerly weighed approximately 460 pounds; then she underwent gastric sleeve surgery and stuck to an intense diet and exercise regimen to slim WAY down. She also endured several plastic surgeries, including excess skin removal on her neck and arms, along with a tummy tuck and a boob job. Paris Jackson has been getting a lot of attention in recent weeks, and that’s no accident. In the past month alone, Paris has covered Rolling Stone and Harper’s Bazaar. She’s sat for dozens of interviews with outlets both big and small. (Ironically, the unique pressures seems to be her favorite topic of conversation.) We seem to be in the midst of a full-blown Paris Jackson media blitz, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be letting up any time soon. The only question is: why? Paris doesn’t appear to have a project to promote; she’s not bringing attention to any particular cause, and she frequently gripes about only being known as Michael Jackson’s daughter despite the fact that she hasn’t done anythin g that would merit this level of attention for some other reason. Like Kim, Kylie and the OG Paris, Ms. Jackson is famous for being famous, which can be enough to build a career on in 2017. The curious thing is that her persistently insists that that’s not the type of career that she wants. For now, at least, Paris’ personal and professional lives are inseparable, and she reportedly has a team of 20 full-time employees working round the clock to keep her in the spotlight. The end game is unclear, but the strategy is apparent: Tidbits about Paris’ “private” life have been surfacing at the rate of about one a day for the past week, and her team is going all in with today’s “leak.” Apparently, Paris has been using a “celebrity dating app” called Raya (might as well score some product placement bucks out of your shameless self-promotion!) to hook up with “VERY hot American girls.” We’re not sure why their nationality is important, but apparently Team Paris would like you to know that she’s both bisexual AND a patriot, dammit! “Paris has made no secret of having crushes on girls in the past and wants to keep her options open,” a source tells Radar Online. But don’t expect an official coming out any time soon. It seems that on the topic of her sexuality, Paris is happy to let the anonymous “insiders” on her payroll do the talking for her: “She’s not interested in making a big statement about her sexuality,” says the source. “She thinks it’s unnecessary in 2017, but she’s having fun chatting to sexy women online.” Paris broke up with Michael Snoddy back in February, and all of her public relationships have been with men, but she’s frequently hinted that she would be open to the idea of dating a woman. Talking about her sexuality with Rolling Stone last month, Paris commented: “My dad raised me in a very open-minded house,” she told Rolling Stone Magazine. “I was eight years old, in love with this female on the cover of a magazine. Instead of yelling at me, like most homophobic parents, he was making fun of me, like, ‘Oh, you got yourself a girlfriend.’” So currently, the plan is not to come out publicly, but based on the subtlety of Paris’ current media campaign, you can expect her to ask Miley Cyrus out on Instagram before the week is out.
