Following a hiatus that lasted way too long, Scandal Season 6 will finally kick off on ABC on Thursday, January 26. The series took an extended break between the spring and this winter due to star Kerry Washington's real-life pregnancy. So Ellen DeGeneres figured that Washington needed some practice prior to reprising her beloved role as Olivia Pope on this addictive new drama, inviting the actress on her talk show for a game of “Speak Out.” This basically involved Washington putting a piece of plastic inside her mouth and trying to … well… speak out. In coherent fashion. And it involved Ellen having to guess what the heck Washington is saying. Before asking readers to hit PLAY on the following video in order to see this hilarious back-and-forth in action, we had to get at least try to give fans a few Scandal spoilers prior to the show's big return. “It's worth the wait,” Washington told Ellen during their taping, referring to the election that happens on the show. “In the first 10 minutes you will find out who won and who lost.” We can't wait! On the season premiere of TLC’s Counting On last night, Jinger Duggar’s epic quest to procure the perfect wedding dress was chronicled. And that was no easy feat, let us tell you. After months of hype, Counting On Season 3 Episode 1 introduced viewers to the long list of requirements for Jinger’s wedding dress: A seriously long train , three-quarter or longer sleeves, lace detailing and a modest neckline were just the beginning. This was serious. (Why they were debuting with this storyline when they already aired a Jinger wedding special is news to us, but that’s TLC for you.) The bride-to-be had naturally thought a lot about her bridesmaids, even if she hadn’t told anyone yet. The obvious picks for the job? “Jana, Jill, Jessa, Joy, Anna, Johanna,” Jinger said, adding there would be 10 in total, including childhood friends and Jeremy’s sister. Jessa Duggar was named Jinger’s maid of honor, but also hadn’t been informed before Jinger casually mentioned while dress shopping. Not that she was that surprised, as she’s closest in age to (and basically best friends in the world) with the future Mrs. Jeremy Vuolo. “I guess I kind of figured that would be the case,” Jessa said. But, at the same time, “I didn’t want to expect it.” At the dress store, Jinger could not wait to start trying them on, but the first two did not get it done. It’s a process, remember. Patience. While this was going on, Derick Dillard and Ben Seewald met up with Jeremy Vuolo’s dad to discuss parenting multiple kids at once. This not-at-all-staged conversation came as they were caring for Spurgeon and Israel solo so that the women could focus on shopping. Both Derick and Ben, of course, recently got Jill Duggar pregnant and Jessa Duggar pregnant, respectively, and are expecting a second. Mr. Vuolo said that the guys will be alright, as raising two young ones at the same time isn’t so bad … you can still divide and conquer. Three or more? That’s another story indeed. Once you get to that number of kids, or 19 for that matter, then you basically need another adult (cough, Jana Duggar ) to help you out. Who do you think will have more kids when all is said and done, Jill or Jessa? When you factor in their interest in adoption, it’ll be a lot! Jeremy’s dad also told Ben not to compare one child to another because people are all different and children are all special as individuals. Sound advice all of us could learn from. Back at the bridal salon, Jinger fell in love with a gown that featured a huge 12-foot train, which met her specifications and then some. That’s too much for one person to manage alone, especially for pregnant Jessa, but fortunately, Jinger has plenty of sibling bridesmaids. Later, after their successful shopping excursion, everyone reconvened at the local craft store to paint pictures for Jinger and Jeremy. Wild and crazy times in Tontitown. Turns out Jessa’s not much of a painter, so she used taking care of Izzy and Spurge as an excuse – and a cute one – to get out of painting. Jessa noted that it was “good preparation” to watch the two little ones at once since soon she was going to have two kids of her own. 2 and Counting, you could say. Rob Schneider is an expert as many things: Making bad movies. Making terrible movies. Making historically unfunny and pathetic excuses for movies. But Schneider does not appear to be a Civil Rights expert, as evidenced by a Tweet that has landed the “actor” in scalding hot water. On Monday, Schneider felt a need to lecture Georgia Congressman John Lewis on some American history, most notably the way Martin Luther King Jr. lived his legendary life. Lewis, of course, has been in the news of late because he has said he will NOT attend Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20. The politician said last week that he doesn’t consider Trump to be a “legitimate president,” based on intelligence reports that confirm Russia hacked into this year’s election, with the intention of helping Trump defeat Hillary Clinton. In response to that decision and assessment, Trump went off on Lews via Twitter. “Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results,” the President-Elect wrote, adding: “All talk, talk, talk – no action or results. Sad!” This Tweet is racist, misguided and ridiculous. Lewis literally marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and was arrested on many occasions while fighting for civil rights in the 1960s. You’d be hard-pressed to find a politician who has accomplished more or taken more action than John Lewis. But such lack of logic, intelligence and sympathy is to be expected from Trump. We guess it should have been expected from the actor best known for having portrayed Deuce Bigalow, too. This is what Schneider wrote yesterday on social media: “Rep. Lewis. You are a great person. But Dr. King didn’t give in to his anger or his hurt. That is how he accomplished & won Civil Rights.” Lewis – who has served as the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 5th congressional district since 1987 – was with King on the day of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963. He also famously marched with King during the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery. And yet Rob Schneider ( Rob Schneider !) somehow felt qualified to lecture Lewis on what King did and thought. Fortunately, Twitter users also saw the irony and felt the anger as a result of this Tweet. “Rob Scheider [sic] lecturing anyone on anything is offensive, much less John Lewis on MLK Day. #facepalm,” one person wrote online, while another added: “As if rob schneider and his entire shtick as a sidekick to Adam Sandler career wasn’t embarrassing enough.” There was also this amazing takedown, which pointed to all the times Schneider played characters that were nothing but ethnic and racial stereotypes: Schneider is yet to respond to this onslaught of criticism. We’d say it would be good for his career if he did so, but let’s be honest: Rob Scheider has not had any kind of career in a very long time. If this was his attempt to simply make some news and to see his name in a headline for the first time in years, then well done, Rob! Mission accomplished!
