There have been many losers to come out of the 2016 Presidential Election. Most specifically, Donald Trump and… well… anyone who continues to stand up for Donald Trump. But there’s been one clear winner from the past several months of campaigning; and we’re not even talking about Hillary Clinton, no matter what is likely to transpire on November 8. We’re talking about Megyn Kelly. Kelly called Trump out on his misogyny from the very beginning. All those people who acted shocked and appalled over what Trump said to Billy Bush in that notorious Access Hollywood video? All those politicians who came out and castigated Trump for his demeaning words about women and his implied sexual assault? Please. Literally, the very first question asked of Trump at a Republican Primary Debate was over the way he has treated women and talked about women in the past. And that question was asked by Kelly. From there, of course, Trump slammed Kelly at every turn, even questioning at one point whether or not she was on her period at the debate. Really. He said that. So this brings us to Tuesday night and Kelly having Newt Gingrich on her Fox News program as a guest. The former Speaker of the House took issue with the way Kelly and other members of the media have been covering the campaign, arguing that too much time has been spent focusing on Trump’s sexual harassment allegations. The tension-filled segment started with Kelly explaining why Trump is behind in the polls, citing that 2005 Access Hollywood tape and Trump lashing out at nearly every woman who has made allegations about him. People have a right to hear those charges, she argues in the footage below. Megyn Kelly vs. Newt Gingrich “I’m sick and tired of people like you using language that’s inflammatory that’s not true!” Gingrich blew up, referring to the term sexual predator being applied to Trump. “When you use the words, you took a position. And I think it’s very unfair of you to do that, Megyn!” Gingrich said. To which Kelly calmly replied: “Your defensiveness on this may speak volumes, sir.” At one point, after Kelly acknowledged that Bill Clinton has an unsavory history with women and that her show has covered it in detail, Gingrich snapped as follows: “You wanna go back through the tapes of your show recently? You are fascinated with sex and you don’t care about public policy!” It’s worth watching the video above just to see Kelly’s priceless response to this accusation. After Gingrich continued to sound like a little child, challenging Kelly to say the words “Bill Clinton sexual predator,” the host somehow kept her chill demeanor and ended the segment by politely saying: “You can take your anger issues and spend some time working on them.” It. Jordan Belamire has been sexually assaulted three times in her life, she says. Twice in real life, specifically, and once in virtual reality. Belamire (an alias) says she was playing a game, QuiVr, on her brother-in-law’s HTC Vive VR system when she was sexually assaulted. She’s not saying she was assaulted in the room while playing the game, she’s claiming she was violated in the virtual world of the game. According to Belamire, she was shooting zombies with strangers in QuiVr’s multiplayer mode when another player began to rub her chest. Virtually, but she says it was just as bad as the “real” thing. “I’ve been groped in real life, once in a Starbucks in broad daylight. I know what it’s like to happen in person ,” Belamire, 30, told CNN. “The shock and disgust I felt was not too far off from that.” Another user, BigBro442, had caught on that she was a woman because her mic streamed her voice through to the virtual world. Belamire yelled “Stop!” as BigBro442 grabbed her. That only made the bad situation worse, she said, as “he chased me around, making grabbing and pinching motions near my chest.” “Emboldened, he even shoved his hand toward my virtual crotch and began rubbing,” she wrote in a post that has gone viral online. Not everyone is buying into her claim that this is assault. “Please explain how someone can be assaulted in any form in VR. This seems to be someone whining just to whine,” said one commenter. Belamire temporarily suspended her Twitter as a result. Saying she is “more disturbed by the backlash than the VR incident itself,” she says she rejects the idea that this is someone harmless. Virtual Reality Sexual Assault: Is It a Real Thing? “It’s not real, therefore it’s OK; this is the amoral substructure of gaming culture,” wrote sociologist and gaming critic Katherine Cross. “This, more than anonymity, is the source of much gender and racial harassment on the internet,” she says in her essay, “Ethics for Cyborgs.” Other women have described similar experiences in VR. “I still tensed up and felt uncomfortable, and removing the headset didn’t take that feeling away,” says one gamer of her own harassment. Indeed, Belamire told CNN that the hand that stroked her body felt “very lifelike. You can make the fingers move in really realistic ways.” No, it’s not the same thing as real life, but it has an impact, she says, and one that’s severe enough that it should be taken very seriously. Some industry critics suggest that there needs to be a code of conduct in VR since its psychological effects are still new and unknown. Do you agree that this problem needs real monitoring? No negative Nancy’s please I love to share my ‘secrets’ with you guys. I do it because it works and It makes me feel better about me.” In fairness, it’s not technically plastic surgery. And Kim only claimed that she hadn’t had any work done on her face. Naturally, fans responded by circulating before-and-after photos all over social media, and being all,”Oh, reeeeeeally?” In all likelihood, she’s probably well aware that the average person doesn’t make much of a distinction between plastic surgery and implants/injections/whatever the hell else Kim has had done. So she can claim she’s never had any plastic surgery and we guess she’s technically sort of, kind of telling the truth. But the fact remains cosmetic procedures are still a very big part of Kim’s life. Fortunately for us, she enjoys showing off the results on social media. There’s no denying she looks good. And, hey, even better is the fact that we know this pic is consensual. Unlike when Kim posted a nude photo of Kroy Biermann without his knowledge. Yes, as long as Kim keeps her TMI weirdness to herself it’s all good.
