All Of The Music Videos Off Kanye West’s ‘Graduation’ Ranked

Source: Taylor Hill / Getty Kanye West ‘s album rollout for Graduation is something that should be taught in every music history class. The Chicago native dropped his third studio album on September 11, 2007, in an event that is still talked about pretty often for something that happened eleven years ago. Though he wasn’t exactly a small-time rapper at the time, Kanye was the underdog in his highly publicized competition with 50 Cent , who both released their albums on the same day. 50 didn’t retire afterward as advertised, but Mr. West ended up raking in a whopping 960K in first week sales and beating out Curtis ‘ 690K. This solidified Ye’s spot at the top of the hip-hop game and skyrocketed his whole career–every album that followed for Kanye, to this day, has reached #1 on Billboard charts. While it’s nearly impossible to say one thing that Kanye West is known for or best at, his visuals as a whole are a pretty good start. From fashion, to design, to music videos, Ye is always thinking about how things look just as much as he’s considering how they sound. With that being said, the music videos from Graduation are some of Kanye’s most iconic, most viewed, and most talked about. In honor of the project’s eleven year anniversary, let’s take a walk down memory lane and remember how all 6 of the music videos off of Graduation fare today. 6. “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” is arguably one of the best songs on the album–and one of the best tracks in Ye’s entire discography–but the same can’t really be said for the video. While it’s a good example of the always beautiful and deliberate display of colors that the rapper is known for throughout his work, it’s a very simple video as far as Kanye visuals go–not a bad thing, just not as memorable as a lot of his visual concepts are.   5. “Homecoming” The video for “Homecoming” was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. A tribute to his hometown Chicago, the all black-and-white Hype Williams -directed visual is a pretty straight forward look at the people, landmarks, and monuments of the windy city. Though the music video does it’s job paying homage to the Chi, a song with such heavy visualization and allusions could have benefitted from a colorful, illustrative video.   4. “Stronger” Another gift from Hype Williams, “Stronger” gives us a visual initially shot over 9 days in Tokyo, Japan. The guerrilla-style visual is futuristic, which fits the theme of Graduation as a whole, but specifically the sounds of Kanye and Daft Punk on the track. The original storyline for the video features West playing a man in a motorcycle gang, who gets into a bar fight with Japanese rivals. West ended up not liking the video, abandoned the storyline, and edited the visual to obtain “the hottest shots possible,” adding more footage in New York City.   3.  “Flashing Lights (feat. Dwele)” In “Flashing Lights,” a  Playboy  model drives out to the desert, strips down, and pops open the trunk of her car to reveal a bound-and-gagged Kanye West before pounding him with a shovel. This video is some incredible foreshadowing for the genius to come from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy ‘s visuals, and it’s most definitely a bright highlight in Ye’s catalogue of impressive music videos.   2. “Good Life (feat T-Pain)” The music video for “Good Life” is something special. It was directed by Jonas & François with animation by So-Me, and is jam packed with colorful writing, creativity, and fun. This visual is the perfect representation of living the good life and evokes the same feeling the song itself does, watching Kanye and T-Pain happily sing along to their smash hit. 1. “Good Morning” Those who hold Graduation– or any Kanye album for that matter–close to their heart are bound to disagree on which visuals come out on top, but there’s no denying how iconic the music video for “Good Morning” is. Starring the famous Dropout Bear, the video was directed by Japanese contemporary artist  Takashi Murakami , who also designed the album artwork   and the cover art for its singles.

Thomas Ravenel and Ashley Jacobs: Actually Engaged?!?

Thomas Ravenel and Ashley Jacobs cannot quit each other. This much is evident. The Southern Charm stars break up and make up more often than the sun rises and sets each weeks. Or so it seems, at least. But we now have reason to believe the roller coaster relationship may actually have calmed down. We have reason to believe the back-and-forth nature of this romance may be over. We have reason to believe that – GASP ! – Jacobs and Ravenel are engaged. Seriously, folks! Yes, it was just a couple weeks ago that Ravenel was accusing Jacobs of cheating and that the future for these annoying stars seemed murkier than ever. Follow along below, however, and you’ll see why at least some observers believe the pair has now decided to get married… On Sunday, Jacobs and Ravenel were tagged in a photo (above) that appeared to suggest a significant development in their relationship. “Great to be with this couple on their special day! Congrats and best wishes!” wrote a friend named Jason Jolly, who shared this image… … and then later deleted the snapshot amidst chatter that he had broken Ashley and Thomas’ engagement news without their permission. Granted, the words  special day are really all we have to go on here — but you tell us: to what could this pal be referencing via this caption if not an engagement? Adding fuel to the engagement fire? This picture of Jacobs? Ashley also posted it over the weekend, after Jason posted his image, and it simply includes the word happy . That would be the emotion one would expect Jacobs to express after an accepted proposal, right? Again, this is all speculation at the moment. The Bravo personalities, whose relationship was front and center throughout Southern Charm Season 5, seemingly split for good in mid-August . At that time, Jacobs explained in a tear-filled Instagram video that “I love Thomas and I’ll always love Thomas. I’ll always care about him.” She added: “I’m still trying to work it out. Not work out getting back together, but I’m still trying to figure it out… “I think everyone’s been through breakups before. But it’s hard.” Sure, absolutely. We get that. You’d think it might be made easier by the fact that Ravenel has been accused of rape by two women, however, and that he comes across like an abhorrent human being. In response to these charges and to the negative coverage that has been following him around, Ravenel quit Southern Charm this summer, explaining his decision thusly: I’m not doing the show anymore. In the contract they have the right to fictionalize your story. They took advantage of me. I decided I’ve got too much to lose and informed them I’m not coming back. The guy sucks so very much. Chris Lopez Gushes About Kailyn Lowry: She’s the Best Mom EVER!

In the months before baby Lux was born, things had seemed to fall apart between Kailyn Lowry and her newest baby daddy, Chris Lopez. Now, however, Kailyn and Chris are spending time together with their son. They’ve come a lon way from Chris burning Kail’s book . In fact, Chris is taking to social media to gush about Kailyn’s parenting skills. Take a look: Chris Lopez shared a sweet photo of baby Lux toddling across the grass, and had a lot to say about Kail. “Sitting back,” Chris writes. “I got a lot of respect for his mother.” That is such a welcome change to their co-parenting dynamic! He says that he is impressed by how she manages “raising not only my son but her other boys as well.” “I don’t know how she does it,” he admits. “Lol.” Chris continued, confessing that people who see children in photos and videos on social media are not getting the whole story. “Bruh this lil’ man is a handful,” Chris admits. “He not as sweet and innocent as y’all think,” he claims. To be clear, Lux is definitely innocent. But babies and toddlers are still developing, which means that their emotions are out of control and their impulse control is almost non-existant. “If anybody think parenting is easy is trippin,” Chris adds. Chris affirms that he is not planning on fathering any additional children. “No more for me,” Chris vows. Chris then jokes: “He my birth control.” Just to be clear, actual birth control is a pretty effective tool, also. Perhaps thoughts of Lux will prompt him to “bundle up’ during future dalliances. (And, not for nothing, but vasectomies are reversible and have relatively short recovery times) It’s wonderful to see that Chris Lopez and Kailyn Lowry are getting along well enough to co-parent. In fact, based upon her social media activity,  fans suspect that she’s banging Chris Lopez again . (She teased fans with the implication that they’re banging again, while Chris, who is more privacy-oriented, was dismissive of the rumor) But whether or not they’re  flicking the light switch  or whichever ridiculous euphemism for sex you prefer, even getting along as friends who share a son is a huge improvement. We all remember how bad things were last year. … Chris burned Kailyn’s book in an alarming display of anger on social media, claiming that she was keeping Lux from him. She accused him of effectively ghosting her during her pregnancy and then being a deadbeat dad after Lux was born. Oh, and she accused him of cheating on her. Overall, it did not paint a pretty picture and it didn’t seem like the two were ever going to make up. This would have been sad for baby Lux. Having two parents whose relationship is deeply toxic is absolutely worse than having one parent. Children need stability and love. We’re glad that they’re managing to get along and we hope that it lasts. It’s also nice to see Chris posting very realistically about parenting. Kailyn recently bashed Kylie for making young motherhood look easy . Being a good parent, at any age, is the hardest job in the world. ‘LHHHS5’ Recap: Ray J’s Fake Brotherly Behavior Almost Gets Him Faded By A1

Source: Jesse Grant / Getty Tonight’s episode of Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood is all about sexcapades. We pick up the episode from the ambush dinner Ray J alleges to have organized to get to the bottom of things, but we get to the bottom of nothing. Pregnant Lyrica goes is going all the way off. Ray J continues stirring the pot. He says that this is an important talk to have since Lyrica is pregnant because now we need to know who’s baby it is. via GIPHY Y’all. via GIPHY Anyway, Ray J’s comment is all it takes for A1 to lunge at Safaree. Security breaks it up because that’s what they do. A1 stands down but he also mentions that he’s mad at Ray too, as he should be. As far as the sex in question, Lyrica is still denying it and Safaree talked in circles. First, it was that he told Ray that he sent Lyrica an eggplant pic and that he smashed. Safaree is just talking in circles and not answering the question. Lyrica asks A1 if he wants her to take a lie detector test and A1 says he doesn’t believe in that stuff. That should be enough to end this, but we know what show this is. Hold that thought. via GIPHY Now we’re at the point where Teairra Mari’s sex tape leaked. Here we go… Everyone knows what’s up now and Teairra is on the warpath. She bashes in Akbar’s car windows in as revenge because she believes he leaked the videos. Akbar denies that he leaked it but the circumstances are fishy. He had all her passwords and shortly after she broke up with him he texts her talking about how someone stole his phone with their sex videos on them then coincidentally, her flicks are all over the place shortly after that. via GIPHY Teairra confronts him about this behavior but he really just seems like a disrespectful man who gives no effs. He even tries to flip it and accuses Teairra of leaking her own sex tape. Instead of drinking, though, Teairra fights back by getting the law involved. As we all know she hired Lisa Bloom to represent her. In case you didn’t know, Lisa Bloom is legendary in these streets. Let the games begin. Now back to Ray J’s messy arse. You would have thought he would have learned his lesson about meddling in people’s business but he links up with Roccstar and Roccstar tells Ray J that Lyrica was flirting with him and sent him suggestive text messages yatta yatta and the insinuation is that Roccstar smashed Ray J too. via GIPHY But then Ray J reveals that Lyrica is pregnant and of course the Maury jokes fly and now Ray J thinks they have to tell A1. via GIPHY Let’s fast forward to the episode’s conclusion. Ray holds a “gentlemen’s night.” Basically, it’s Solo Lucci, Marcus and A1 having a fake card game. Ray J allegedly feels bad about what happened with A1 and wants to make amends. via GIPHY A1 is the last to show up. He greets everyone but Ray because like we established earlier, he’s pissed off at Ray. Ray feigns indignation, they try to have a “civil” conversation but A1 is irritated and you know where this leads… via GIPHY They don’t fight because you know how tight security is. But then Ray J’s simple self-tells A1 to holla at Roccstar because he said he slept with Lyrica too and that the streets are saying Lyrica smashed mad dudes. And then Marcus jumps in talking about he heard the same thing (via gossip from Lyrica’s so-called friend Brooke) and Solo Lucci is chiming in with his little tidbits. Basically, A1’s thing is, he already patched things up with Lyrica so why are they still in his business? No lies detected. The end of the Hollywood Amigos is official.
