Brooke Rosendale, a fifth grade intervention specialist and volleyball and basketball coach in Ohio, was been sentenced to three years in jail. The ruling came down on Wednesday, after Rosendale pleaded guilty to a sexual relationship with a 13-year old female student. According to an arrest report (obtained by People Magazine), the Riverdale School employee engaged in sexual contact with the unnamed teenager in January and February of last year. The incidents did not happen on school grounds, the document states. Based on this same report, Rosendale (who was convicted on a charge of third-degree felony count of sexual battery) was not the teacher of the girl with whom she slept. Instead, the two met via the school’s extracurricular programs. Rosendale, who resigned her position one months after this inappropriate relationship ended, must now register as a Tier 3 sex offender going forward. She also must pay $225 in restitution to the family of her former student. In court, Rosendale’s attorney, Peter Halleck, said his client has accepted responsibility for her actions and has expressed remorse to him on multiple occasions. However, Hancock County Common Pleas Judge Reginald Routson, the judge who oversaw the case, came across as skeptical that Rosendale truly understood her actions. “You stepped across a line, a taboo that cannot be violated,” Routson said, according to court records. He added: “There cannot be any sort of relationships between teachers and students and you betrayed a very important trust.” Rosendale apologized Wednesday to the parents of the student, who appeared in court but did not wish to make a statement in public. “I want to apologize to the family,” she said. “I know I hurt them and I apologize.” Rosendale got engaged in July of 2016 and was scheduled to get married on November 4, 2017, per a section on TheKnot.com. It’s unclear at this time whether or not Rosendale went through with the wedding. In March of 2017, the teenager’s parents reported these sexual incidents to the school district. After the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office launched a criminal investigation, Rosendale resigned from her position. She has also relinquished her teaching certificate. We knew it didn't end well for them (Matt fled for Vegas before filming was finished, and Amber got pregnant by Andrew Glennon , a producer on the show.), but until today, we didn't know just how ugly things got. In a preview clip released this morning, we see Amber absolutely lose it on rapper Jim Jones, who had the audacity to state that maybe “reality TV star” isn't the most promising career path. “Especially when you look at the whole overall scheme of reality TV, it’s pretty much bullsh-t to make some money,” Jones said in a conversation that had nothing to do with Portwood. This simple and 100 percent true statement was enough to make Amber fly off the handle: “Get the f-ck out of her. Let me tell you something right now,” Portwood interrupted. “I've been on reality television for 10 f-cking years. I've been real since day one. That's not true. Not all reality television stars are like that.” She went to attack Jones' fiancee, Chrissy Lampkin, as well as pretty much the entire cast. It's anyone's guess as to why Amber was even more temperamental than usual, but this may serve as confirmation of Brandi Glanville's claims. A video that depicts an orangutan smoking a cigarette discarded by a zoo patron has gone viral … … and not in the positive sense, either, according to many animal rights activists. Indeed, the following footage has sparked international anger toward this zoo's alleged mistreatment of animals. The video was shot by a visitor last Sunday at Indonesia's Bandung Zoo, which is approximately 90 miles southeast of the capital, Jakarta. As you're about to see, it captures a young man taking a few puffs from a cigarette and then tossing the still-lit item to the ground of an open-air enclosure. It's at this point that a 22-year old orangutan named Odon actually picks up the cigarette and begins to inhale it, drawing immense laughter from the crowd. But many folks out there do not find this incident to be funny. A handful of animal rights organizations have condemned the visitor’s carelessness and the zoo’s apparent lack of supervision and education against such acts. However… “There's actually a sign at the location which says visitors are not allowed to give food and cigarettes to the animals,” said a zoo spokesperson in response to this scandal. Still, though, Marison Guciano, founder of the Indonesia Animal Welfare Society, went after the zoo's management for “weak control”and generally criticized the place for a lack of welfare standards. Elsewhere, about one million people have signed a Change.org petition to “Shut down the Bandung Zoo now!” following the orangutan incident. It reminds us, to some extent, of the extreme outcry that took place in May of 2016 after a gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo had to be shot to death because a toddler climbed into its enclosure.
